Have been to The Old Station Restaurant several times now and have enjoyed every visit! The atmosphere is very relaxed and you can have a drink in the bar first before you are seated through in the restaurant. Recommended are the 'pot tails' or a nice refreshing gin from the extensive list of scottish gins!
The menu is varied with lots of choice to suit all tastes, there is a vegetarian option. Portions are a good size but not too big so you can manage 3 courses!
The staff are friendly and helpful.
I would highly recommend The Old Station Restaurant for an enjoyable night out whatever your occasion....girls night out, work night out, boys night out, family occasion or even a romantic dinner for 2!
You can catch the train from Fort William, get of at Spean Bridge....the restaurant is on the platform, then catch the later train back to Fort William so you don't have to worry about driving.
Would recommend booking a table in advance!

The Old station is a slightly odd place. Half locals pub - the barmaid was lovely and recommend different gins (extensive list) and had a great in house ale; half restaurant which serves average burgers next to fettuccine with smoke salmon and venison pate. I had Jacobean chicken stuffed with haggis which whilst tasty was overwhelmed by a soup bowls worth of very strong peppercorn sauce which was the same as the steak sauce. Good portions but microwaved veg was very poor and soggy. My partner had a burger which looked average but was actually quite nice and fat though overdone. Being used to london prices I was pretty surprised to see a sirloin for £22(!!!) and whilst the burger was under £10 with excellent chips, my average chicken was £14.50. With drinks it was 20 quid each for one course nd two drinks.

All in all, not too bad but don't go with hopes of a restaurant cuisine, it's pub grub and not even gastro type quality. Staff seemed very overworked though there weren't too many customers, average service except the nice barmaid.
It's caught in two minds - are we a pub? Possibly. Are we a restaurant? Sorry guys but you need to up your game.

We were told that this restaurant was one of a few good ones at the area we stayed at. We were turned away as we had no reservations. Managed to get a table the next day. The manager noticed us, and we were told to wait at the bar and were given menus to decide what to have. The inside of the restaurant is nice, the choice of selection in the menu was really good as well. I had the vegetarian option. Both my husband and I was very pleased with our meal. However the service was quite poor we thought. The waitress took our order when we were at the bar and seemed quite miserable. When we were sat at our table they didn't bother with asking if we wanted another drink. I had to ask for one and she got it wrong. It was very slow that we got up and paid at the bar and to see the staff were chit chatting away in the kitchen. Otherwise the food is superb. Just the service was a but disappointing.

The food was good, the service excellent and the train was on time. Yes the platform is still used for train passengers. While we dined in the old Station.

My wife & I first visited this restaurant in 2009, followed up in 2010 and more recently in May of this year.

In all three years we found the food to be excellent and the staff to be most helpful and the whole experience shows why it has such consistent high ratings.

Moreover, we hope to be back, even if we did that we motor 500 miles to get there
