Description: At the Old Station Restaurant & Bar we offer great locally sourced food at reasonable prices. Dine in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, in the unique setting of a converted Victorian railway station on the world famous West Highland Line. We are located at Spean Bridge station where the Commandos began their training during the Second World War. Relax beside the fire in our public bar and enjoy local real ales. We are the only bar in the village serving real ale on draught. We also have a good selection of malt whisky, Scottish gins and wine. We have a gluten-free menu which is available on request. Children are very welcome ... And we even have a special menu for the wee ones! Our Bar is open from 5pm until late in high season. Our Restaurant is open from 5.30pm until 9pm

“Boring food!”
Reviewed 21 July 2009

Our dining experience here seems to be light years away from other reviewers. We found the menu dull & old fashioned & the food arrived so quickly that we were in & out in under 45mins! I had the vegetarion option of the day- risotto - how can anyone make a risotto with long grain rice? The starter portions were small-3 garlic mushrooms-not value for around £5. The best part was the quirky location

“Don't let this one slip by you ...”
Reviewed 5 July 2009

Very pleasant experience. Restaurant has a varied menu and a great bar. Food and service were excellent, probably my best meal in two weeks in Scotland. Atmosphere is delightfully rustic ... perfect for its country setting. Staff seemed genuinely interested in providing a nice experience. And yes, it is a working railway station, you will see trains come and go.

“A hidden gem”
Reviewed 28 February 2009

This unqiue little place is hidden away in the backstreets of Spean Bridge alongside the Station platform and it far exceeded our expectations.

We ate there on a quiet February evening, yet two fires were roaring making it very cosy in the already beautiful surroundings.
I can officially say it is the best service we have ever received in a restaurant EVER. Both the waitress and the chef came to check we were happy with the meals we received and the owners were extremely friendly and welcoming.

The menu is reasonably priced with something to suit every pallet and we enjoyed a delicious meal. The bar area has comfy sofas and is perfect for pre/post evening drinks.

A visit here provided us with one of many wonderful highlights from a perfect and very memorable visit to the Scottish highlights. We hope to be able to return to the Old Station Restaurant very soon!

“Very Good Recommendation”
Reviewed 24 August 2008

Spean Bridge is a smallish town North of Fort William and we did not expect to find a great restaurant like The Old Station. When we visited it had just been taken over by Ben and Vanessa who were great hosts. The meals were very nice, original and of a good size. The dessert that my wife had will make this restaurant very popular I am sure with both visitors and locals, it was the chefs own recipe for Bread and Butter pudding with a scotish twist! Nice cosy bar area to relax in after your meal, with big leather lounge, had a couple of Whiskeys after the meal there.
Prices for the two of us was as expected, and by the end of the night the small dining room was full.
The other unique thing about this restaurant is that as the name suggests it is in the Old Railway Station, however the station is still in use, just not this part of the building, so as we sat and enjoyed the evening we saw the Caledonian Sleeper Train to London pull in to the station.
