“Best food and service at a price.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 August 2014

Stayed at the hotel for a couple of days and as mentioned elsewhere, the surroundings are superb. The food is probable the best I have had in any hotel in Scotland with service to match.
The room was comfortable though I did not have one that had the superb view of the loch, these are snapped up early.
As it turned out the cost of the excellent meals were, what I thought, reasonable but the B&B cost is a bit on the expensive side, but you pay your money and take your choice.

Room Tip: A loch view would be preferred.

Super friendly and helpful staff in this high end bed and breakfast place on the shores of a Scottish loch, close to Loch Ness, Fort William and even Isle of Skye (1.5 hours away). Outstanding gourmet breakfast and nice rooms - a lucky find at the last moment.

The Corriegour Lodge was a pleasant surprise, we had a large group (9 of us) from Canada staying, and on arrival we have never had a faster check-in. In fact, they let us choose our rooms which we felt was a very nice touch. Our room had a bit of a musty smell, with a sliding door to the outside - but was clean if a bit small (it is a lodge). The bathroom seemed to have been updated. Unlike other commenters, we found the water pressure fine but our shower was so hot as to be scalding...the manager quickly allowed us into a vacant room to shower - a very nice touch. The restaurant and bar area are fantastic, just what you would expect from a lodge, although the chairs and couches felt like museum pieces, we liked it and settled in. The food was among the best we had in Scotland, bar none - I highly recommend the restaurant experience. We found the views to be delightful - more trees than in the pictures, but who can stop nature? You are immediately across the road from the Loch - an easy toss of a baseball to the water. The comments about wireless internet are fair - they admitted they were using satellite for internet, so we decided to enjoy our vacation and not bother with that! The staff made it for us, with a casual conversational style while still providing great service and were highly attentive to our needs. I'd go back without hesitation.

Room Tip: Each room is different; rooms on the second floor had a less musty smell, but all rooms were very cl...

We really enjoyed our stay here and it didn't matter a jot that there was a road between the hotel and the loch - it meant there were far less mossies! The staff were brilliant - going the extra mile with everything i.e. when I couldn't get a signal to make an important phone call, I was lent a mobile from one of the staff - also when I was too tired to wait for my sweet in the restaurant, it was brought up to my room. The chap who was managing the hotel when we were there was utterly brilliant - professional, efficient and very helpful and friendly. (He will know who he is - he showed me a photo of his dog). Just two small gripes which can be fixed easily. The bedroom window was so small it was essential to have the bathroom window open as it was so hot - alas - there was no catch on the window so you ran the risk of the window slamming and breaking the glass - why?? The mattress was horribly uncomfortabe and had seen better days - lumpy and noisy with groaning springs which gave me backache. Apart from that - lovely hotel with the most magnificent views to treasure.

It has been stated by many that the hotel is across the main road from the loch. This is true, however I believe being across the road is a small price to pay for great service, superb food, and a lovely stay. James was great at reception when we arrived, very helpful and fun, and as a young couple we could relate to him. The house is very clean, and the service was great. Some noise does filter through the walls, but this is to be expected in an old building. One review said the house had no "sound deadening", im unsure how you do that to an entire old building when its not required. The food is absolutely amazing and a highlight of the stay. The lads that own the hotel also run the kitchen, and they source the best local produce, from the same farmers, wine merchants etc. One last thing, being a tad away from the loch means the hotel also has less midges than it would otherwise.

Room Tip: Loch view rooms are worth it, also larger.

What can we say about Corriegour Lodge Hotel that hasn’t already been said...it’s probably one of the best hotels we have had the pleasure to stay in whilst in Scotland. Situated by Loch Lochy it offers amazing views, particularly from the restaurant, and speaking of the restaurant, wow...the food is delicious! If you do choose to stay here then you will be doing yourself a huge disservice if you choose not to dine here too.

We booked three rooms, each of which had fantastic views to the loch and we highly recommend that you choose this option when booking to make the most of the idyllic location.

All three bedrooms were nice and warm, which is more than we can say about a lot of other hotels in Scotland, so this was a huge plus for the older family members.

The bathrooms in all three bedrooms were modern and well equipped but we did have issues with water pressure and would recommend to the hotel owners that this is sorted.

The lounge is a great place to relax, especially when the large open fire is lit.

The Wi-Fi is slow and the signal is weak depending on where you are, our advice: unplug and enjoy the surroundings whilst you are here, as using it will just frustrate you.

Do not expect a new building, this is an old building with creaky floorboards and cracks on some of the walls, some may call this ‘character’ which is not really our thing but in our opinion it adds to the experience and works well here.

All the staff were friendly and helpful, even taking the time to post a jacket for us that one of the family members left in a wardrobe.

We would love to stay here again, and would even drop by just for another fantastic meal in the future!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a loch view when booking.

We booked this as a last minute, as it was one of the only ones with rooms available for that weekend. We booked it through Expedia and was quoted a rate of 140-something pounds, which was a quite a bit more than we ideally would like to pay, but as we were late booking somewhere to stay, we chose this one. It was more like a B&B then a hotel. The room was tiny- almost no room for our luggage. Breakfast was from 8:30, which is quite late if you are going hillwalking as we were, you could arrange for an earlier breakfast, but only 45 minutes earlier, which was still too late for us. Free wifi that got turned off at night. Parking was tight- there was this huge Motorhome that took a lot of space outside and made it tight to pass when you were getting parked. When we checked out, the woman charged us 169 pounds a night saying that they have no rooms for 140-something pounds, 169 pounds was the lowest room rate they have. We are definitely feeling ripped off. 169 pounds is what you pay at the likes of Hilton for a dinner, bed and breakfast suite room- not for a B&B with tiny rooms! Never going back!
