We have just returned home from a 5 day break at at Letterfinlay Lodge. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. The food is excellent, beautifully presented and served by lovely friendly staff. Nothing is too much trouble. The view from our bedroom was breathtaking. Very
comfortable lounge with roaring log fire. Gavin,Sharon,Grant & Derek made this break very enjoyable. We will be back, hopefully very soon.

We arrived at Letterfinlay Lodge Hotel on Friday 16th November 2012 and within the small reception felt the heat from a welcoming roaring log fire in the drawing room. We were welcomed expertly to the hotel and its facilities and enquiries were made about our dinner arrangements. It was such a warm and friendly welcome that we knew right away we'd come to the right place for a relaxing 'long weekend' break.

And so it proved, in the evening we came down from our room to a spotlessly clean restaurant and met a very pleasant, friendly young lady who asked us where we would prefer to sit and explained what was on the menu and what was part of the DBB package we had taken.

The food was of a very good standard and the wine priced at normal hotel prices. The excellent service and attention continued throughout the meal, this regardless that the restaurant was getting ever busier. As it did we met our third member of staff and lo and behold he was, just like the first gentleman and young lady we'd already met, absolutely welcoming and thoroughly professional.

Saturday breakfast was a feast, and all freshly cooked to order, we didn't get to meet Chef, however I'm convinced he'd have been of the same standard of service as the others, excellent!

Saturday was a foul day outside, we went for a hike and returned soaked through, no drying room, however our host took our wet clothes to the boiler room for drying out, all part of the service! Another excellent meal on Saturday night and another excellent breakfast on Sunday.

This hotel has unbelievable views over Loch Lochy, it is an imaculately clean hotel, it's not new, but it is well cared for. Without a doubt even with the spectacular views and glorious surroundings, the biggest asset this hotel has is its genuinely caring staff. What a wonderful welcome and it never let up from the minute we arrived until after we left.

Great effort and if the team were mine I'd be very proud of them.

I'll certainly return to this excellent establishment.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for Superior Room 2, it's very spacious and the views along the loch are awesome.

We stayed at the hotel as a weekend break. The position of the hotel (over looking loch) was stunning, really a picture post-card outlook. It was a shame the weather was not that good, but that is Scotland!!!
The food in the restaurant is very good and full marks to the chefs.
On the downside, bedrooms could do with upgrading and maybe a heated towel-rail in the bathroom would take the chill off it. More hot water would be welcomed.

Dear Jambo9

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel.

Due to our Special Winter Dinner, Bed and Breakfast offers we have been exceptionally busy, I am glad you found it good value and enjoyed your meals.

The room you were in is the last of our rooms to be refurbished and is scheduled to be finished before Xmas. I hope you can return sooner rather than later to see the improvements we have made.

I hope you guys made it back home in time for your appointment, I remember you had a very early start.

We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Best Regards

We booked a dinner bed & breakfast package which was great value. The room we had was nothing special but the view of the Loch was great. The service was good, albeit a couple of the public rooms were a bit chilly (it was January!). Evening meals were very good even when the restaurant was quiet. Recommended.

Dear JB30,
We are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us last January. You will find our lounge area to be a lot warmer than last year as we now have an open log fire of which creates fantastic heat and the best ambiance whilst relaxing.

We have also refurbished the bedroom you stayed in last year of which is now beautifully decorated with panoramic loch views.

You should come back and stay with us and enjoy some of the new features at the Letterfinlay Lodge Hotel.

Best regards

The staff are young, friendly and yes, happy! They seem to have stepped back to make a study of what works and what guests are looking for - and got it right.

Other high point of our short break was the wonderful food, full marks to the chef and well done, you got the lighting right in the dining room creating an intimate, cosy atmosphere.

Our room (new, stylish furniture and décor and immaculate en-suite) overlooked the loch, we sleep with the window open a wee bit so in the morning I woke to the gentle lapping of the water at the edge of the loch and lay in my bed watching the early mist rolling off the hills - bliss.

Be aware that there's not much going on around the hotel (free pool table though!), apart from strolling down to the loch-side to practise our stone-skimming skills, we were happy to relax in the hotel, managed to wrap up and sit outside on the sun-deck until the sun went behind the hill and the temperature plummeted. Found the public rooms a wee bit on the chilly side for us during the day but once the open fire was lit (spectacularly with a gas torch!) we were fine.

Another one for the 'short break' short list - get a great deal through easy-breaks.com (am I allowed to do that?). We usually shy away from 3-star hotels, but better this great wee place, than an indifferent 4-star hotel.

Room Tip: Try for a loch view.

What a gem this is! We stayed 4 days/3 nights - from Friday until Monday, and enjoyed every single moment in the hotel. The setting is wonderful - lochside, with icecapped mountains all around, and the superior room we had upgraded to had two large windows to take full advantage of the scenery. The staff were just wonderful - so pleasant and friendly, and so attentive too. Sharon and Cat really did seem to tuen their hands to every task required, and seemed to put in 18 hour days too. Food was just incredible, and way above the standard we had been expecting - the chef was outstanding. The owners will have to watch he is not poached for somewhere more high profle, as he is clearly exceptional. This was the first time I have ever seen such a choice of breakfasts - as well as the full scottish and all the cereals etc, etc, there were Eggs Benedict, Smoked Haddock and Poached Eggs, Scrambled Eggs wiht Salmon, French Toast..... Dinners were divine, and an amazing choice of around 6/7 startres, 20+ mains, and about 6/7 desserts - spoilt for choice indeed. Our large room was really well kitted out and decorated beautifully, and snuggy warm, thanks to an additional heater as well as the radiator. There are several public areas to lounge around in, and a super roaring fire, pool table, dart board, large TVs - all just perfect for relaxing after such wonderful dinners. Outside there is a massive decking area, which I can imagine would be truly lovely to sit on - but perhaps not in November! The hotel are promoting excellent Wedding packages, and they really deserve to be successful with thse, judging by the wonderful welcome we received and the attention to detail which was made by everyone there. I will be booking to return again for sure.

Room Tip: A room with a view is a must - as the scenery is spectacular!
