Our second visit to Letterfinlay and I'm always worried going back to somewhere where I've had a really good time that it will never be as good as the first time. THIS IS NOT THE CASE with Letterfinlay Lodge Hotel. Everything was as good, if not better than our first visit in 2009. Its hard to choose which aspect of the hotel is best because the catering, the hospitality of the staff and the standard of the accommodation are fabulous. I would urge anybody travelling through Scotland to stop here and experience the warmth of a Letterfinlay welcome.

My wife and I went up north for our 5th wedding anniversary to Letterfinlay Lodge. We stayed in the adjacent new building, Letterfinlay House, in the Golden Eagle Suite. The room was very comfortable and spacious with a beautiful en-suite bathroom with a very nice soaking tub. The view of the loch and surrounding snow-covered mountains was incredible, especially on a clear, moonlit night.

The staff at the hotel were superb - friendly and accomodating, our thanks again to Jamie and Sam, for making our visit and our anniversary dinner one to remember. The food was superb at both breakfast and dinner. We will definitely be back to visit.

We stayed here for 3 nights just prior to Xmas at a very reasonable rate booked directly through the hotel's website. Having been kindly offered several rooms to choose from, we ended up staying in the Golden Eagle suite. It was a very decent size, nicely furnished and had a beautiful view of the Loch.

The food in the restaurant was excellent with plenty of choice and a particularly good gourmet cheese burger. Jamie, Jackie and all their staff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome.

The location is easily accesible by car, at about a 20 min drive from Fort William. The Nevis Range cable car is just 10 mins away and well worth a trip to walk/bike/ski.

As part of an anniversary trip to Scotland, we had high hopes for the accommodation we had chosen. Despite the Hotel being very welcoming - and the food well presented and cooked - we were somewhat disappointed with our room (though nothing like as bad as where we went on to...!). No bedside lamps and very poorly lit...it was not what we were expecting and not really an accurate reflection of the Hotel's own description of its accommodation. (The manager did find me an extra light (with a 40w bulb). Though the food was very well cooked and presented...we did feel it to be a bit pricey for what it was. In summer especially (I should imagine!) the location is lovely...and a good base for walking or whatever locally.
