Stayed just one night in this hotel but the family room we booked was excellent. Location is out of this world and if you get the weather the view from the deck is amazing - unfortunately it rained while we were there. Ate in the hotel restaurant and the meal was great - good choice for both adults and children. Was quite expensive but overall worth it.

Ended up here very last minute, but still got a room overlooking the loch. Excellent food in the restaurant, in relaxed spacious surroundings with views over the loch, and served by pleasant local staff. Nice grounds with access down to a private secluded area at the loch side. It may not have the most modern of deco, but it was clean, very comfortable and characterful.

The Letterfinlay is located right on Loch Lochy in the Scottish Highlands. The lake view off the main deck is wonderful. The surrounding Highlands are spectacular. However, the hotel itself was a little old and somewhat run-down for our taste. Food at the hotel was good, but not great. You would definitely need a car to stay at this hotel, as it is relatively far from any town.

After reading the reviews we booked a room at this hotel. The rooms were really dated and the place was worn. This was the worst hotel on my vacation, thank goodness we only stayed one night. Hated it.

Im sorry that the general manager asked you to leave the hotel after only one night but your strange behaviour was upsetting other guests and hotel staff

Stayed in the Letterfinlay for one night during our trip through the Highlands, and as it was my wife's birthday I booked the Golden Eagle suite (would have liked to get the big Osprey, but it was taken).

The suites are in a separate building next to the hotel and have their own veranda with loch view. The entire floors are carpeted so you are asked to leave your outdoor shoes on a shelf in the entrance. The GE suite itself is large enough, with big bed, flatscreen TV and sitting area (see pictures). The bathroom has a bath / shower combo.

The restaurant was busy when we went there and the staff a bit stressed, but the quality of the food left nothing to be desired (do try the local salmon!) The lounge area is pleasant.

So, overall a very pleasant and nice experience. I do have some remarks / suggestions though:

I do not know if this is a common occurrence, but during our stay the RAF thought it fun to make several low-altitude passes over the loch with their *@#$ jets. Not the fault of the hotel of course, but very annoying. This should be forbidden! Go practice somewhere else!

The entrance door of the suite building could use some grease. It squeaks and creaks. A lot.

When you're in the GE, you can hear the people upstairs move around (it's a wood floor I guess).

There's a door behind the shoe shelves in the entrance hall that connects to the bathroom of the GE suite. It should really be removed and replaced by a wall. Also, the full-length mirror on the bathroom side of that door directly faces the toilet and some people find this disturbing.
