“Humbling”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 July 2014

A plaque on the statue monument explains the history of the Commandos who trained in the area.

A memorial garden is situated close to the monument, which is very moving & emotional because it contains additions from recent conflicts.

Beautiful views surround the Memorial area.

“Very moving tribute”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 July 2014

I am always awe struck by cenotaphs in communities I visit, and this one was no different. It highlights vets from the early 20th century right up to the present time.

Take 10 minutes out of your day, visit this memorial, and take in the beauty of the landscape around you.

“Well worth stopping to look at”

Between Fort Williams and Skye, you will drive past this imposing monument - or should I say three monuments. The view alone is worth pausing to take in. But the monuments are very moving. The original one marks the area in which commandos trained during the Second World War and has a brief history to explain how Churchill invented this elite squad. There is also a "living" monument, which is particularly moving as it contains photos of those who have recently given their lives in the service of Great Britain and to protect our freedoms.

A very moving memorial with spectacular views of the area. Lots of private memorials to individuals written for everyone to read. Interesting and emotional.

“A stunning location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 July 2014

Situated about 2 miles outside Spean Bridge in a stunning location, the memorial is dedicated to the Commandos, as their training bases were situated close by. Unveiled in 1952, it features three commandos looking towards the Nevis range of mountains..
