We booked a 2 night stay and were sorry that we could not have stayed there a little longer. We were upgraded to a suite which was really nice. We had a small sitting room as well as a large bedroom. The bed was very comfortable and had delightful views of the gardens.
The host was very friendly and made us feel quite at home. The food was delicious and we had dinner there both nights.
Ty Mawr is in a great position to visit the coast and we took advantage of this.
I would certainly recommend this lovely house to anyone wanting a relaxing break with good food in this part of the Welsh Countryside.

Room Tip: I am sure any one of the rooms would be comfortable .

Once we had decided to visit Aberaeron & New Quay over the May Bank Holiday weekend, I set about finding a hotel for the night. I first tried the well known hotel in Aberaeron harbour, which was full, and then tried hotels in New Quay without success.
I stumbled upon Ty Mawr by accident & quickly snapped up the 'Matthew Rhys' suite (the cast of 'Edge of Love' stayed here during filming).
Come the weekend, we spent a pleasant Saturday in Aberaeron, including a drink in the local harbour hotel, which was very busy and chaotic.
In the early evening we got back in the car and drove inland to Ty Mawr. After a short drive into the beautiful Welsh countryside we arrived at the gates to Ty Mawr mansion. As we drove up to the house and parked the car the owner, Martin, came out to greet us and took our bags into the house. We were shown around the reception rooms & dining room before Martin took us to our 'room', a beautiful suite in an annexe attached to the main house.
After some R & R in our room, and a freshen up in the huge bathroom, we went back to the main house for dinner. Drinks were served in the reception room whilst we made our selection from the small but perfect menu of locally sourced produce. I chose lamb (we were in Wales after all) and my husband selected pork. We both had scallops to start. The food was well presented and tasted wonderful.
We retired to the reception room for our after dinner drinks and then returned to our room so my husband could watch 'Match of the Day', kindly facilitated by Martin who showed us how to use the Sky system (thanks Martin, I think!). A pint of lager was also duly delivered to enhance my husband's enjoyment!
After a good night's sleep in a very comfortable bed, we returned to the main house for breakfast, where I was reminded how much better local eggs & bacon taste than mass produced.
As we drove away my overriding thought was how glad I was that I'd discovered Ty Mawr and escaped the hustle & bustle of the main tourist haunts.
I hope we will return one day.

Room Tip: The Matthew Rhys suite was a wonderful blend of traditional & modern, set away from the main hou...

From the owner meeting us, helping us with bags and giving us a tour, we couldn't have been made more welcome. The staff were very friendly. The food sublime (dinner & breakfast). Room comfort outstanding. Husband has mobility issues and suite was perfect for us. Owner- Martin - helped is with taxis and gave plenty of local knowledge. From the chicken coop on the grounds to the local wildlife nosing at our door (pheasants and squirrels), it was a total relax zone! Need to go back....

Room Tip: Choose a suite for added luxury. Matthew Rhys suite is in an annexe and suitable for wheelchair use...

We spent some time looking for the perfect weekend getaway for our first anniversary, and Ty Mawr Mansion was recommended to us by one of my work colleagues. We were not disappointed! On arrival we received a warm welcome from the owner who helped us with our bags up to our room. He then took the time to show us around the hotel and chat to us about it's history. We booked to stay in the Keira Knightly suite for two nights, which was fantastic. The whole suite was very large, the bed very comfy and the bathroom was amazing and included a jacuzzi bath, rain shower & lovely white, fluffy towels and bathrobes. We had a meal in the restaurant on the Friday night which we would highly recommend....the food was delicious & the whole dining experience felt really special. We also had breakfast on both mornings, there was plenty of choice as to what to have, but we opted for the cooked breakfast which was gorgeous. They used locally sourced produce and the eggs were beautiful and from the chickens that lived outside!
The whole place was so peaceful and was totally perfect for a country getaway! The owner and staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. Nothing was too much trouble, and the owner went out of his way to make our stay really special and relaxing.
We will definately be back, and have already recommended Ty Mawr to our friends & family!

My husband and I have just come back from an overnight stay at Ty Mawr Mansion. We had stayed once before back in 2010 and had such a fantastic time that we knew we had to return for our anniversary.
We decided to book in for dinner, bed and breakfast staying in Room 7 (which is the room that we had stayed in the previous time we had been).
When we arrived the owner was waiting to greet us at the door and offered to carry our bags for us. We were taken upstairs to our room and as we went up the owner said that if we liked we could have the Keira Knightly suite for the night as a free upgrade. We were thrilled with this as we had only booked a regular double bedroom. The Keira Knightly suite is exquisite, it is beautifully decorated and very spacious with two settees, a desk (with a computer), a television (with satellite) and a DVD player as well as a huge bed all decorated in opulent reds and golds. The bathroom has a large jacuzzi bath with a rain shower overhead and the use of lovely fluffy bath robes and towels. We had also ordered a bottle of Prosecco to the room which was waiting for us on ice with two glasses.
The owner explained that a table had been reserved for 19:00 in the restaurant and if we would like to come downstairs around 18:45 we could have pre-dinner drinks in the lounge whilst looking at the menu.
We went downstairs for our pre-dinner drinks and were greeted by a waitress and the owner. We were given the menu to look at and whilst waiting for our table the waitress brought our drinks along with some marinated olives.
The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere there is plenty of space between each table so you don't feel like you are crammed in but it still has a cosy feel about it.
My husbands favourite dish was the pork belly which he said was the best he had ever had. My favourite course was the starter which was grilled mackerel served with mango salsa and pickled cucumber, it was delicious.
After dinner we went back up to our room and had an excellent nights sleep in the very comfortable bed.
In the morning we came down to breakfast, again there was a waitress waiting to greet us and take us to our table. There was an assortment of cereals, jams, croissants, yoghurt, fruit and fruit juice on the buffet table but we both decided to go for the cooked breakfast which was very good. The eggs had a lovely flavour to them, I guess because they came from the free-range hens that were outside the Manor.
We weren't ready to leave as we had such a special stay with all the boxes being ticked for us. The owner and staff could not have been more friendly and the food and room were exceptional.
We will definitely be back and urge anyone thinking of staying here to do so, you won't be disappointed.

Mr and Mrs Evans

Room Tip: We have stayed in both Room 7 and The Keira Knightly suite and would recommend them both.

Beautiful setting and lovely rooms but the poor attitude of the owner (ie it was clearly an inconvenience to have a 07:30 b'fast and 'confusion' over the rate) ensured that I will not return. It is a service industry!

My partner and I went here for our tenth anniversary . We were recommended by good friends to go and try it . On arrival we were met by the door and taken into a warm lounge with a lovely fire. We ordered wine and were given menus to look at. We then gave our order and were taken into the dinning room. We were brought little cups filled with a swede soup ( I can't remember the fancy name) well this was like heaven in a cup with amazing little bread rolls . I had the beetroot and goats cheese to start which was lovely and fresh and my partner had the scallops and risotto which was divine!!! For mains I had the steak and my partner had the duck both of the meals exceptional ! We had the chocolate brownie and the sticky toffee pud for dessert which were out of this world. After dinner we were taken into another lounge for tea and coffee and this was an area to relax. As if the dinning experience was not enough the lovely owner then came and had a chat with us and then asked if we wanted to have a
