“A warm,relaxed and peaceful retreat.”
Reviewed 4 November 2013 for a stay in October 2013

This is a beautiful barn conversion that is well-equipped and warm. It is a great location with the countryside on the doorstep, lots of opportunities for walks and it is so quiet and peaceful. It is also within easy reach of Cardiff which has lots to offer all ages (especially if it is wet!). The whole family enjoyed staying here and the children particularly liked the large trampoline in the garden.

“Hidden gem”

Lovely converted barn, tastefully decorated and includes everything you need for your stay. Bob and Ceri were very friendly and welcoming hosts. It made a great base for exploring Cardiff and the surrounding area.

“Cosy & comfortable”
Reviewed 7 December 2012 for a stay in December 2012

Very warm and cosy, characterful barn convertion opposite owners home. Top of the hill overlooking the valley. You have to navigate a single track road to get there, but worth it for the peace, quiet and view. Two bedrooms, one double and one with a single/roll-out bed. Open plan lounge, kitchen, diner with wood burning stove makes for cosy nights. Wi-fi connection dodgey, but owner provides dongle that will pick up a signal (just). BBQ and play area with trampoline and swing for summer days. Walking distance to pub/restaurant, short drive to another pub.

“Beautiful barn conversion in stunning location”
Reviewed 16 April 2012 for a stay in April 2012

We stayed at Pen Fistla in April. I had a conference in Cardiff and my wife came with our 6 week old daughter and two friends and stayed in the barn. It was a perfect retreat out of the city but easy to get into Cardiff. The barn was clean, comfortable and perfect for friends to get away. The owners had even organised a changing mat for our daughter in our room.

“Lovely stay in great location”
Reviewed 31 January 2012 for a stay in July 2011

Pen Fistla.
We stayed there last summer with my parents in law, and our daughter (aged 15 months).

Owners
Ceri and Rob are fantastic. Very Helpful and friendly. They live on site.

Equipment
The barn is well equipped, and the childrens toys in the barn and in the garden were a great bonus. My daughter had loads of fund with the tractors, footballs and toys in the house.

The barn
Very comfy, rooms are well kept and pretty spacious (for the budget). It warms up very well and was a good size for 4 adults and 1 small child. We put the travel cot in a doorway off our room.

The only tiny negative is the floors are creaky, so you could wake people up at night if you walked around... but this is an old building so should be expected really.

Location
Beautiful. Surrounded by rolling hills. The next door field had sheep in it and again my daughter loved seeing them run in and run around. You get to it by driving up lovely single track lanes. Very peaceful, and you can walk in about 10 mins to a local pub (which is good too)

Cowbridge
A nice little town that near by

Local Pubs
Generally a very good standard of pubs. My wife had one of her best every veggie meals in a pub. The Plough and Harrow in Monknash

Local Sites
There are plenty of things within 30 mins drive.

Overall. A very nice place to stay
Plus - Ocado deliver here!
