The setting for Weddings is really delightful in this enchanting old Hotel - the elegance of where the ceremony took place was delightful and the beautiful room where the Wedding dinner was served was stunning, the chandlers sparkled and it was a perfect setting.

The food was really lovely and importantly it was piping hot when served - all in all wonderful value.

Recently attended The Bear for my daughter's wedding, initially there was a mix up over the bar facilities but this was quickly corrected and the rest of the day went like clockwork. Canapes were excellent as was the meal although drinks were pricey. Excellent selection of ales in the hotel bar but unfortunately not in the function suite. Some of our parties rooms were great with four poster beds but other rooms had no heating at all. Breakfast was ok but not great and it was difficult to find any staff to top up tea and coffee. Overall quite a good experience.

The Bear goes on and on and seems to become more popular and busier all the time. Good busy atmosphere full of locals. A very old building dating back hundreds of years.Food good. The best toast anywhere in Britain and I speak as someone who sent toast back at the Savoy last year. Their own car park at the rear of the building. I'm a frequent visitor and have never been disappointed. I am a visitor for food and drinks only.

We visited The Bear hotel for a second time and were there during the town's drinks and food festival... It was heaving with people and The Bear was no exception, with a large marquee selling drinks and playing live music... It was great...! Somehow, the staff managed to check us in amid the chaos and we were soon joining in the fun.... We had an excellent stay. Rooms very comfortable. We ate in the restaurant and this was very good too. Overall, a very good hotel and recommended...
