We came for lunch as non residents. A nice relaxing atmosphere, allowing you to relax and chat whilst waiting for your food to be cooked. All food is prepared to order but it was certainly worth the wait. The menu was varied and reasonably priced. Definitely worth a second (or even third or fourth!) visit. Plenty of space too so even though it was busy, it didn't feel crammed.

Room Tip: If you dine in the dining room, you get waitress service, otherwise you need to order yourself at th...

The above title basically sums the place up. Good ambience, comfortable seating and reasonably priced drinks on tap made for a very relaxing evening. Lots of different types of seating areas both indoor and out. A varied menu and pricing that doesn't hurt the pocket. We had lasagne, chips salad etc and a salmon dish with new potatoes. Both meals were absolutely delicious and we would highly recommend the food. It's great when a plate of food both looks good and tastes good, makes you wonder how other places fail so miserably. Attentive waiting staff and all in all hard to find fault, well done the Bear! However, we went mid week and found that the brief wait period for service and later food service was not a problem but perhaps could have been on a busier evening.

had a 1 night stay here while attending an evening wedding party at llantrithyd.the bedroom and bathroom were quite small but very clean ,well equipped .comfortable and tastefully decorated.staff were friendly and helpful. breakfast offered a good selection of locally sourced foods and bacon etc. was piping hot.we did ask for an 8am wake up call which did not happen-could have been important if heading for cardiff airport and we ordered a taxi from reception(the firm was AJD) to and from the party-it arrived to take us but not to pick us up at 11pm-when i rang them i got an answer machine. fortunately we did get a lift back.overall tho an enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: ask for a room away from the courtyard if there is a function-when we went out someone was singing...

Popped into the bear when finished work for a drink lovely courtyard area in the back making the most of the sun whilst we have it. Then decided to have some food, the place was very busy disappointed that there was only one person serving in the grill bar as the poor lad was rushed off his feet. However friendly and laughing with us we did eventually order some food. Was not advised that there was a wait but when seeing how busy it was expected it.

Lovely food when recieved, waitresses where very attentive after dropping off the food. however an hour after finishing food we still had dirty plates on our table. And left feeling like lovely place but needs a few more staff.

We called in at The Bear Hotel at about 7.00pm and as soon as we got there you could see that this is a very popular place for all age groups. The restaurant staff found us a cosy table for four and seeing that we had two elderly relatives with us immediately offered to get some drinks brought to the table. The char grilled chicken with blue cheese sauce was very good and we would have liked to have stayed longer. The young staff they employ are very attentive and, despite being fairly busy, were in control at all times.

We will definitely be visiting The Bear again.

We attended our friends wedding Anniversary at the Bear Hotel Cowbridge and the whole day was very enjoyable.

The food for the function was first class as was the sandwiches we had in the evening and the cooked breakfast the next morning and a credit to the Chef and his staff.

Our room in the main building was spotlessly clean and had tea and coffee if you required.

The outside areas and grounds are very well kept and the gardener has done a great job.

Thanks to all the staff for a great day out with friends and we would recommend the hotel and it facilities.
