We walked out the door, into the surrounding orchards, picked a few black currents, available to all who stay here, and walked over to our out-of-door breakfast to be treated to expert cooking including a French omelette and plenty of tea, coffee, decaf and lovely potatoes and classic tomatoes. Bliss. We were informed that tomorrow's breakfast would be French toast! Bliss number two.
The crickets, pet cats (trained not to kill animals they capture), birds, neighbour's dogs, and the general orchard ambience are irresistible. I wanted to stay all day at the property, but the great book store in Penticton and the wineries all around Oliver and surrounding municipalities were calling.
Jim and Gudrun are a couple who have lived several lifetime's full of adventures and their B&B is a crowing achievement. They love people, so this is a treat to anyone who stays here. AND if you don't like a lot of chat, they get the idea and do not bother your country revery. Plus, they price your stay on the low side to always keep the B&B full.
Green surrounds us as we walk all morning. The only man-made sound is a tractor now and then.
Hardly any cars. Table grapes, peaches ripening, plums, apples, and black currents which are so delicious that it breaks my culinary heart to be leaving after three days. While staying here we are planning our return.
Off to another joyful breakfast in the garden . . . . and a few laughs and warming to the morning sun.
