“Two Bays Villa - a hidden gem”
Reviewed 9 April 2011

We had a wonderful stay at Cabier for our second week in Grenada which enabled us to explore the south of the island. Two Bays Villa is really great accommodation in a wonderful setting with beautiful views on all sides and is fully equipped for a self catering holiday. The lodge is run by Bruno and Iris who are always friendly and helpful. It is very relaxing at Cabier but isolated, so you do need a 4 x 4 to get around and also to shop for food if you want to self cater at all (we did our own breakfast after the first couple of days). The food at the lodge is very good - there is a set meal each evening cooked by Bruno who is an excellent chef. All in all, a great stay in a wonderful setting.

This guesthouse, is set on unspolit coast, off the beaten track. A great clean, safe (even for small children) bathing beach right there. This is part of the 'real' carribean, not the synthetic package hotel world. Friendly helpful local staff. Efficient Austrian management and French chef. I will definitely be back.

While I do agree with the other reviews in regards to the wonderful view from the rooms and the peaceful surroundings I have to say that there were a few uncomfortable elements as well. I am not sure if we got the crap room or what but there were no closets/shelves to put our clothing, there was a hanging rack but no hangers. We requested a room w/ a kitchen so we can cook our meals, however, the lighting in the kitchen area was very poor and made it difficult to cook in the evenings. Additionally, the utensils and other appliances in the kitchen were very worn down and it wasn't nice cooking/eating w/ that quality of utensils. Soap was not provided in the bathroom which was very odd. No dish soap in the kitchen either or paper towels. Bathroom looked very worn as well. There was WIFI at the hotel but not in all rooms including our room, was not happy with that.

A good thing is that the lodge is very close to the beach. But I've been to Grenada at least 4x before this stay and I wouldn't say it's the nicest beach on the island. You definitely should have a rental car and it's really for people who want to have no contact with what else is going on since it's very quiet and no Internet, no TV, poor cell reception, poor lighting to read in the evenings, etc...

I have to say that the staff (maids, gardeners, restaurant workers) were very kind people.

Lastly, make sure your trip to Grenada is confirmed with no possible changes since they take a percentage of room payment if there are any changes/cancellations. I booked the rooms and had some changes and tried to cancel 3hours after phoning in reservation and was notified that they will keep part of my payment.

I am sorry that most of my comments are negative but I wished it wasn't since the location is a lovely place, just not the rooms. I noticed that the other comments were very positive ones and they stayed in the Studio rooms which are the larger ones w/ 2 bedrooms. Maybe those rooms are the ones to go for. We just stayed in the standard ocean front room.

After this guests had booked and payed a deposit - they wanted to cancel their reservation.
We told the guests that in this case we would keep the deposit - which they did not like.
So they decided to come and not loose their deposit - but they told us already before the came that they will write a bad commend in TripAdvisior (without knowing our Lodge).
During their stay they did not complain - but after they left they wrote a bad comment - as promised before.
When you look at our other comments you will see that most guests really like our place.

We stayed in the Two Bays Studio where the view was breathtaking, our room was very functional, with adequate facilities, the bed is very comfortable. The verandah was well furnished and once again that view wow.

Although we mainly self catered, when we ate at the lodge restaurant the food was very well presented and tasty.

The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

We would definately recommend Cabier for a truly peaceful and natural slice of the Caribbean.

The room (Beachstar Appartment with nice sea view) was very clean and we had more then enough space. The kingsize bed was very good and luxury, too. The whole Cabier Lodge areal is in a good condition and our hosts (Iris and Bruno) did everything to make our holidays a pleasure. All the stuff was very friendly and we soon felt like part of the “Cabier-Familiy”!

The food cooked by the French chef Bruno was outstanding good and really pricy. We had dinner every evening and it was always delicious and full of variety – local Caribbean dishes and European style, too.

We would also recommend you to take a tour to the seven sister falls with Bruno, including the rainforest tour with Rastafarian Joseph. The falls are awesome and it was very interesting to learn about the plants, crops and fruits of the rainforest. Try to do the tour on a day without cruiseships to be nearly alone at the falls – just ask Bruno about it.

You should consider to rent a 4x4 car– the public road to the lodge isn’t in a good condition. If you don’t have a car, Iris and Bruno will arrange a taxi for you.

All in all: We had a very good time there and everything was fine! We’d recommend this place to everyone who likes to be far away from mass tourism and who wants to find a really nice place to rest & relax!

I stayed a wonderful long weekend at the studio at Cabier Ocean Lodge, and loved it. The room is nicely fitted out with an efficiency kitchen, but I took breakfast and dinner at the nearby lodge, where the food and service is great. My favorite features of the room were the long veranda (perfect for reading and staring philosophically at the ocean), and the charming bed decked out with a romantic mosquito net. Never saw a mosquito, but loved the cozy feeling of sleeping enclosed within the white netting. Grendada is a beautiful island, and worth exploring.

We found an idyllic looking villa on the internet and booked a 2 week holiday. The photographs were absolutely true to life and we soon relaxed under the ' Cabier' experience. Our villa was about 100-yards from the main Cabier Lodge so while we self-catered most days for breakfast and lunch, every evening we dined at the Lodge with a delicious 3-course meal in their sea front restaurant, where Bruno introduced us to many local fish, vegetables and fruit. He and his German wife Iris were the perfect hosts; we watched as other guests arrived tired and weary before departing a few days later totally refreshed. Bruno is an experienced guide and takes those who want to hidden gems of Grenada often unknown by the average tourist. We cannot write a word against this wonderful place - apart from the rather bumpy drive - and strongly recommend it to any seeking a warm rest away from the razzmatazz of life.
