“Great place for visiting ruins, reasonable price, clean”
Reviewed 25 February 2010

Great place for close accomodations for ruin hopping. Room was small but clean, A/C, TV, bathroom with good shower. Parking area with an attendant 24 hours. Restaurant is great for breakfast - they made pancakes for use even though they weren't on the menu. Dinner was average. Went down the street to Mirador Maya for a great dinner - Tostados were wonderful! Great enchiladas.

We stay at Rest y Hotel Calakmul in Friday Oct. 9, We did like this place a lot, we rent 2 rooms with AC-TV-Hot water for 550.00 Pesos each. It has a parking lot, Senora Manuela is very nice, I had talk to her 1 week before. The Restaurante is clean and the food was very deliciuos, the rooms are ok to me, the only thing is they are dark.

It is close to downtown, which beats the Mirador Maya, but it is not right down by the bus station and a noisy disco, like the Hotel Victoria and another one are.

This place has three tiers of room prices. All rooms have two beds, but the most expensive at 600 pesos, has TV, AC and ensuite bath. The next at 450 just has no TV. The cheapest at 250 has a ceiling fan and shared bath, which I shared with another fellow and found to be adequate over three days. The hotel has an okay restaurant, but we generally headed off east to the next one just past it where the food and beer was cheaper.

Much earlier I had called to make reservations for the seven of us, but they lost any record of it, so don't bother. The days seem to be long gone when when there could be a lack of rooms in Xpujil.

We could not reserve this hotel on internet in andvance because they do not have got webside. But it was not really necessary, they had got enough free rooms. The hotel has got also a restaurant with pretty good food. The room is small, but it has got satellite tv. The ruins are just the other side of the main road. So if you would like to explorer the ruins in Xpujil and in the neighborhood this is a good place to stay 1-2 nights.

Restaurant y Hotel Calakmul is a good choice if you are going to visit Xpujil or Kalakmul. Rooms were quite small for our five person family but for two they are perfect. Rooms have AC, TV, shower, hot water. Rooms and all facilities were very clean. Service was ok, we managed with our poor Spanish. Place is also near center (just on the border of the village) so services and restaurants are just near. Price - quality is excellent if compared to other places of the center which we checked. We can recommend.

The Hotel Calakmul is a great choice for travelers visiting the archaelogical sites in the Rio Bec region: Chicanna, Becan, Hormiguero, etc. It's about 45 minutes from the entrance to the Calakmul biosphere, but it's probably the best value in the region. The rooms are clean and modern. Outside of each room there's a covered area with a table and chairs, which greatly expands your living area. The owners and all the staff were very hospitable to all the foreign visitors, too.
