We stayed at Schaefer's Halt on the way to the Kruger, wanted to explore Dullstroom en-route. What an unexpected gem.

We have two VERY busy boys who ran, played and explored - falling into bed at night exhausted and happy. Schaefer's Halt has three beautiful dams, easily accessible for the kids and fishing rods to throw in a line. Well geared for children, there are swings, little forest walks and some awesome trees to climb.

It gets very cold at night so bring warm clothes. Trevor and Sharon brought us more firewood and kids Monoploy and we had a cosy evening in front of the fire.

Well worth the stop - we will definitely return on the way back!

You know you are in heaven when there is a hot-water bottle in your bed and sherry on the kitchen table. What a blissful two days @ Schaefer’s Halt. Cost stone cottage over looking the mountains and the veggie garden. The owners were delightful and I got a free painting lesson in the studio! I’ll be back!

Unpleasant stay. Sharon was sadly disrespectful. She had other visitors at the time and appeared to be so consumed with being there for them, and impressing them, that she snubbed, ignored and was even rude and dismissive as a result.

We were 6 adults and a 3 year old who stayed in Cloud cottage for the weekend to attend a nearby wedding. The accommodation was perfect, so comfortable and furnished with everything we needed. Amazing views with the added bonus of an
Impala grazing on our lawn early one morning. Sharon and Trevor were wonderful
hosts happily assisting us with an emergency iron situation just before the wedding.
Nothing was too much trouble. We can highly recommend Schaefer's Halt. Our only
regret we couldn't have stayed longer.

Wow wow wow..... my friend and I were looking for a place to stay in Dullstroom while our husbands were away hunting. We enquired at one or two places and got referred to Schaefer's Halt by their neighbours. We didn't have a look at the place on the net and just booked - so we had no idea what to expect. Well - we were extremely surprised when we arrived. Trevor and Sharon are the sweetest most wonderful couple and hosts we have come across. Such interesting stories and their cottages are filled with so much history. The cottages were beautifully laid out with ample fire wood, heaters, fresh towels, warm blankets and even a sherry on arrival. The dams were fully stocked and the welcoming committee (cutest dogs) were too cute. We will definitely return for a longer stay and refer Schaefer's Halt to everyone wanting to visit Dullstroom.
