“Very peaceful”
Reviewed 15 December 2013

The Sea View Lodge is a very relaxing place to stay. The atmosphere is very honeymooney, and the clientele seemed to all be couples. It's very quiet. The lodge looks out directly over the beach, which was deserted. There are plenty of sun loungers The rooms are of a good size and have decent bathrooms. The food at the restaurant was reasonable (try the seafood pizza) but the restaurant next door serves better though more expensive food.

Three slight issues that took the shine off the experience. Zanzibar suffers from regular power outages, and the hotel does not have a generator. This meant the air con would go off, and the restaurant was limited in what it could serve. Also, the wifi was down for the entireity of our stay (5 days). We were promised every morning it would be fixed tomorrow, but this never happened. Finally, the price quoted for a taxi from the hotel back to the airport, or to other destinations, was twice as much as you could negotiate with local taxi drivers directly.

Overall, I really enjoyed my stay here.

Hi Miserableinkhartoum,

Thank you for your review we really appreciate it. We are glad you enjoyed your stay, but are sorry you experienced some inconveniences which have now been fully rectified. Sea View Lodge Boutique Hotel now has a brand new generator, so power issues will be a thing of the past. Also we recently changed providers for our WiFi which now runs continually and with good bandwidth. We have also reviewed processes and prices for transfers and can confirm that they are more expensive when booking through the hotel, but we guarantee you are collected on time from the airport or ferry terminal and you have safe transfer. Customers are welcome to negotiate their own transfers, but they must be very wary of potential issues with taking rides from uncertified 'taxis' which is currently a big issue in Tanzania. However, we are glad it worked out for you positively on this occasion. You are welcome to stay again on your next visit to Zanzibar and we will do our utmost to ensure your next stay is perfect. Karibu tena!

Normally I don't write reviews but feel that my stay at Sea View Lodge more than deserved a review. After a long hectic journey we did arrived at this peace of Paradise – I mean Sea View Lodge Boutique hotel.
I and My friend we had a very perfect warm welcome to the hotel on arrival with a very nice mixed fruits juice as welcome drink – love it.
The manager gives as a lot of information about hotel, village and Zanzibar as well, he is well informative. He offered as tours to different places, but I’m sorry we didn’t take his offer – it was far expensive. He is nice man though – very helpful and always ready to listen.
We booked a sea view room expecting to have 2 beds – but we had one big bed, no problem it was really nice, the beach view was lovely.
The food at the hotel was also delicious – Thank you Chef Daud, we will be back “promise”. We went for bed and breakfast option, every morning we were greeted by Mr. Yussuf (The Manager) just to see how we are doing, he is always there to help – thank you.

In general, the hotel staff went above and beyond in order to ensure that we had the perfect stay and of course we did. The place is very quiet 
All in all, we had a very pleasant stay and unforgettable time at Sea View Lodge and there were no faults with our stay. The Manager (Mr. Yussuf) please make sure you have the same team, we will visit you again. Big up to Daud and Rose. Thanks to all staff that made our stay to be so special.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view room, if you need 2 beds then you have to choose pool view.

Fantastic value for your money. This is my third trip to Zanzibar, living in the region and this time, I had to travel solo as the husband had to travel elsewhere. Although I thought the transfer charge from the port was a bit pricey, nothing else is! They have a fantastic breakfast, included in the accommodation price. Awesome rooms, (great big showers), right on the beach (great views on a CLEAN beach) and a swimming pool on the property. The staff really see to your every need in a very relaxed way. I had to cancel the last night of my planned five night stay because of the Fashion Week in Stone Town I wanted to attend. From the start on email, Yussuf and Anthony was very courteous and accommodating. When I mentioned I have trouble securing the ticket, they just took care of that too. Thanks guys. This was a great stay

Room Tip: Definitely ask for one of the four rooms facing the ocean. All the other rooms (four) face the swimm...

We came across sea view lodge while looking for somewhere to stay in Jambiani. We were so pleased to stumble across this place - it had everything we needed. Beautiful rooms, gorgeous pool and beach views. The price as well was very reasonable. There are a lot of places to stay in Jambiani but sea view lodge had a very luxurious modern feel while retaining the bungalow/lodge beachside appearance and not being commercial in any way. The owner and staff were so friendly to us and made sure we were looked after throughout our whole visit. There are 8 lodges in total so the place would never feel too busy. I would recommend to anyone. It was the perfect end to our holiday :)

We have been volunteering in Tanzania for 3 months and came to Zanzibar for a couple of days relaxing. We didn't book anything on beforehand and stayed at different places on all sides of the island. When we were in Jambiani, we stayed in a hotel we didn't like. After a nice beach walk we passed by Sea View Lodge and decided to have a drink at the nice restaurant with a stunning view over the Indian ocean. We had a very warm welcome by the lovely owners of this place.

They showed us around and we immediately fell in love with this little paradise called Sea View Lodge. They just finished the hard work of making a whole new accommodation, so everything is completely new with a great eye for little details. We decided to stay here 4 days and had the time of our lives.

The rooms are very spacious and all have a wonderful view at the Indian ocean or at the relaxing pool with jacuzzi. The bathrooms all have very nice big showers and the beds are perfect for a good rest after day in the sun. The staff is more then fantastic, all they want is to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

Besides the perfect breakfast they happily serve every morning, Sea Views restaurant is by far the BEST restaurant on the entire island. The young chef cook will make you fresh, perfectly spiced dishes and there's always room for special orders. Also the menu is very low priced, specially when you taste the great flavors.

The beautician near the pool is great as well. A pretty girl gives GREAT massages for a good price. She offers a lot more then massages and even though we only had a massage, we're sure everything she offers is great. After a day lying in the sun getting a massage here is the ultimate way of relaxing.

Jambiani is a very small and peaceful place and staying at Sea View will make you feel most relaxing and let you forget about the busy Western life for a while. Even though there are more than enough excursions Sea View Lodge can arrange for you. Tell them what you would like to do and they will make sure you'll have a great time. Spice tours, a day at Stone Town, boat excursions, rent a bike or Vespa, they can always offer you a nice excursion, that's perfectly arranged and good priced as well. If you're not in to these excursions, it's also possible to walk over the beach for hours.

After all, we have had more than an amazing time at this paradise and the owners of this wonderful place have a special place in our heart. They took care of us as the most warm and friendly people you can imagine. So if you are looking for a nice, small and quiet paradise to relax, don't hesitate and go to Sea View Lodge.

Room Tip: If you are with 4 persons and prefer to share a room, they have a great big room with 2 double beds...

Comfort, style and fabulous service with a smile...... At the end of a brilliant, if hectic, holiday in Ethiopia and Stone Town we chose this small lodge on the beach at Jambiani as the place to kick back and relax for a few days. What a great decision that was!
Our chalets were scrupulously clean, well designed and well furnished, with a really comfortable bed and great bathroom and shower. They overlooked a beautiful stretch of the beach, where local residents actively pursue their daily business of fishing, farming seaweed and tourism. The sandy beach made swimming and paddling in the sea an easy option at high tide. At other times we made good use of the hotel pool for gentle swims and for cooling down after the not-so-strenuous activities of strolling up and down the beach, reading and sleeping. I enjoyed a very relaxing massage in the pool-side salon and a fabulous snorkelling / dive trip booked with a local diving team at the recommendation of the hotel manager.
The talented cook served up delicious, fresh food and, largely because of this and unusually for us with plenty of other options available, we ate in the restaurant every night. Also, having sampled the excellent cocktails on the first evening, we just had to keep going back for more! However it was the fun, smiling, friendly and helpful staff, who made our holiday on the beautiful island of Zanzibar a very special one. Without exception, they went the extra mile to make sure that we enjoyed our stay to the full. I booked in an extra night, would have stayed longer if possible. I have no hesitation in recommending this beautiful resort to others.

WOW - you cannot beat the view. Our rooms were right on the beach and were clean and well equipped. The only problem I had was the shower - I was unable to get any hot water. However, as soon as I brought this to the manager's attention, the situation was attended to and fixed. One of the best part of our stay was the staff. Everyone one who worked there went out of their way to make sure we were enjoying ourselves and we were happy with the service. We had dinner at the Lodge one night and also at a more upscale lodge down the road (Spice Lodge?). We absolutely loved our dinner at Sea View and thought it was an excellent Value. By far, Sea View dining far exceeded the more expensive dinner at Spice Lodge. Everyone who works at Sea View is proud of their property and it shows thru to their Guests. I would absolutely recommend this property
