I've visited Goa alone, so I tried to find a hotel located in a crowded area. The Mayflower has likely the best possible location: it's on the main local clubber's street (Tito's lane), but the building is still some 100 meters from the lane itself, making even a Saturday evening in a room unexpectedly calm! In addition, there's a scooter rental just in front of the hotel gate.

The hotel fully worth its three stars. Hotel area is a green garden that's taken good care of. Rooms are clean and nice. Some tricky service points were fully compensated by hospitality of hotel owner who really makes his best to solve visitors' issues that crop up.

Some things that might be better:

- Room keys can be replaced with RDIF cards, making it unnecessary to leave a key on reception desk when room cleaning is requested

- In addition to some harsh internal rules posted in every room (which are OK on their own since mostly resulted from specifics of Goa resorting), it would be great to have an instruction saying that an aircon power is enabled after a few minutes after a room key is inserted into a room power activator. I spent my first (and hottest) several minutes trying to understand why is the aircon off despite I'm clicking all buttons on the remote and the unit itself. The porter boy also didn't say a word on this peculiarity.

- Despite breakfast is very limited, it was still not included into my booking, but I wasn't informed about that upon arrival and I even managed to take it twice since no one is checking who comes for it. After that I was suddenly told it's paid, but, honestly, the guy did not insist on that and the issue was hushed up.

Pros of the hotel:

- Strict internal security rules, perimeter fence, and in-room safe boxes ensure no theft fears

- Two minute walking from Baga beach

- Tens of restoraunts, bars and clubs within five minute walking

- Hotel owners really care about that's going on (despite administrative stuff is also not bad in that), hence most high rankings

Very beautiful property at an excellent location. Simple elite furniture, clean comfortable beds with good room size and clean room and hygenic washroom. Good greenery in the hotel, one can just laze around in the hotel too( pool and garden). Near Baga beach and titoo's , happening street, staff very courteous.Owner was very helpful and polite. Though, service was bit slow and the staff wasn't very aggressive in cleaning (need to be more quick) the rooms or might be they wanted the guests to laze and enjoy.

Was disappointed on arrival to be given a ground floor room after I had emailed in advance for a high floor, although not guaranteed, I was however moved to the 1st floor the next day which was better.
Pillows on arrival had to be changed as they were stained & dirty, apart from this the rooms are new, clean & with very good bathroom, decent tv & fridge also.
Staff were indifferent, some friendly & some not, one of the cleaner was extremely rude to me when I was told to go & look at another room & was told by him to GET OUT.!! he was aggressive & very unpleasant.
In summary : Good rooms, nice pool, good & quiet location I didn't eat there so can't comment, staff could have been better.

Goa was a wonderfull place to start with :-) the hotel was clean and hygenic. I was initially fearfull as this was the first trip for me and my wife together and the place did not dissapoint us nor was it over the top as I would have liked it to be. The location is what makes me give the hotel an above average rating.

There are typically 3 types of categories you'd want to stay in Goa

1. Stay in a luxurious resort with adjoining beach like Taj.
2. Stay on Baga and enjoy night life, Like Mayflower, Ronil
3. Stay away from crowed and commute in goa to Baga.

[1] is good for honeymooners and people with very small kids
[2] is suitable for bachelors and families with manageable kids
[3] is suitable for experienced tourists, or for those who want to stay near a particular beach.

Mayflower is a decent hotel, with large and clean rooms and friendly staff. Taxis are available just at 100m from mayflower (outside Keys resort Ronil) and 2 wheelers for rent are just outside.

Titos is very close and just cross Tito's to reach the beach. Good market on the Titos lane and on the main road.

Swimming pool is clean and small, though water was cold in last week of December. Can't blame hotel for the weather :-)

Breakfast is minimal and reasonably priced for the menu. Don't expect a 5 star breakfast. Room service is good.

Service is a bit slow, but given the number of shacks on the beach, we mostly had the meals outside.

Room Tip: Airtel signal inside rooms was low, so ask for a room that has better signal.
