The hotel is new, and not bad at all, we had a VIP room, we have booked by Agoda and it was not expensive. It is like an average 3 stars hotel by the European standards (this is hard to find in Semporna City!). To be honest, the city is ugly, dirty, smelling bad. The staff is young and friendly, the rooms are clean.
In the hotel there is some bad smell, but not so bad as in the nearby market! It is close to the jetty so it is good place to stay if you go for diving in the islands near Semporna.

My friends and I spent 10 nights staying in this hotel while on a diving expedition last month.

Paying RM100 per room (which is only RM50 each for two people sharing), this is indeed a value for money accomodation as it only cost approximately SGD$20 per person per night. You will definitely can't find any budget hotel like this price anywhere in Singapore!!!

Amenities may be simple and basic in this hotel, but at least the rooms are clean and hot showers are provided with 24hrs air-conditioning.

The room may be a bit small, but no complaints there since we are out most of our time doing dives in surrounding islands and are completely exhausted whenever we come back to the hotel.

What this hotel lack of, or in fact what Semporna town lack of, is a place for us to have a good body and feet massage!

The service staffs are also helpful, patient and friendly when we asked them for location of the ATMs, reccomendation of restaurants for dinner every night and also shops where we can get our mineral water and tidbits.

Definitely, a good place to stay with reasonable pricing in such a new, clean and good hotel!!!

Room Tip: Rooms facing sea are nicer but more expensive than a standard room.

I booked two rooms. They upgraded one to VIP because of a mistake/overbooking due to the Lepa Regatta Festival. The ordinary room has no view; i.e. windows facing interior. but the VIP one has balcony facing dragon inn and the sea. The view from here was superb, and I think the actual rate is not expensive. As we were in Semporna partly to watch Lepa Regatta (kind of festival of traditional boats), we could watch the event easily from our room. Breakfast is not served.

Snorkeling at Mabul and Kapalai island can be done as a day trip. Not quite for Sipadan as it has a limit of visitors and thus early booking is required; and expensive too.

Room Tip: Go for the VIP Room during Lepa Regatta. Even at other time, I think the scenery from the balcony is...

We spent one night here, booked on Agoda the night before. The cost of a double room was 20 british pounds (including taxes). Situated close enough to the jetty, shops and restaurants in Semporna. Hotel is spotless and of a very good standard. A/C, TV, powerful heated shower and free WiFi. Two free computers in the foyer for those without laptops. No breakfast, but that's not a problem with a good selection of restaurants closeby offering cheap breakfast. Our room was in the middle of the hotel with no window, which didn't concern us as we only slept there prior to heading to Pom Pom Island (see Celebes Beach Resort review). Discovered the next morning, some rooms at Sipadan Inn 2 have balconies. I would consider staying in one of these rooms next time and travel daily to dive sites.

For those who cannot afford or are simply not willing to spend hundreds of dollars per night for a room on Pom Pom Island or Mabul, this hotel is a very good and extremely affordable alternative. You can still travel daily to your favourite destination with e.g. Scuba Junkie, as we did (office and boat a mere 100 metres away from the hotel) and save hundreds of dollars per day.

The hotel is very nice, new and extremely clean. It is located in the best possible area in Semporna and right next to the hotel you will find several restaurants with tables outside along the waterfront. The rooms are tiny and the bed is 190 cm long, which might be a problem if you are very tall, but it is furnished with taste, has a very silent and powerful air conditioner, a big flat screen TV and a nice bathroom. The young receptionists are very, very nice and helpful. For the price we paid, I believe this was not just by far the cheapest, but also the best bargain we found during our 18-day long trip in Sabah!

If you are coming by bus and have only a backpack, make sure you have a map with you and you will be able to walk to the hotel in less than 10 minutes. Sidewalks are not in good shape in Semporna, so If you arrive at night and have luggages to carry, even if with wheels, I suggest you to take a private car (no taxi service in Semporna) from one of the young guys that will be waiting for you at the bus station. They will charge you 10 RM for a very, very short ride (I felt kind of stupid!), but it really makes your life a lot easier.

The downside of staying in Semporna, compared to the islands, is that you end up walking in the evening in a small and very unattractive city, although not as run-down and filthy as the Sandakan city centre, but still you won't be able to escape from the bad smell of fish and sewage, a common problem in all cities of Sabah.
