My fiancee and I had the most wonderful vacation! Everything was perfect from our visiting gecko grande, to the glass airconditioned villa, to the beautiful ocean view from the pool, to the impeccable service. We went for a tropical getaway for my birthday, and we got engaged on playa Hermosa under a sma,, shady tree. It was a magaical trip, and we hope to return next year. We were very sad to leave! I also recommend the sea kayak and snorkel tour. We hope to do the all day Cano Island snorkel tour on our next trip. Again, the staff is amazing! We felt welcome in our home away from home, and extremely well cared for.

We stayed at Oxygen for two nights following a four night stay at nearby Hotel Cuna De Angel. Oxygen was definitely a step up and was perfect for relaxing our last few days on the coast.

Pros:
Amazing views, epic pool, friendly service, easy to get poolside drinks, delicious food, fantastic rooms, saw lots of wildlife just around the hotel grounds.

Cons:
Less accessible to get to town and other activities, have to drive up and down a 15 minute dirt road. We didn't mind because we had already seen most of the coast and done our day trips while staying at Cuna. We were content just to stay put and enjoy our time at Oxygen when we arrived.
Dinner service is slow because there is not really enough kitchen or wait staff.

Beautiful, tranquil, professional & luxury are just a few of the many positive things I have to say about Oxygen Jungle Villas. My girlefriend and me stayed there for 12 days a couple of weeks ago and were blown away with how stunning the whole place is and how friendly and helpful every member of staff was for our entire stay.

I can't recommend it enough for couples who are looking to immerse themselves in pure natural bauty, luxury, romance and peace. It's a perfect mix of adventure and relaxation as the stunning infinity pool and bar provide a lovely base to chill out at, while it also being a great base from which to do many breath taking excursions up and down the coast and inland. We loved the Corcovado national park day trip where the volume and diversity of wildlife will amaze you, and also the horse riding treck through the Rainforest to the Nauyaca Falls which again was so much fun. It's also bird watching heaven being up on the hill - we dedicated a pair of binoculars to the hotel for future guests to use when lying on the sun beds by the pool.

The staff deserve a metion as we were humbled on a daily basis by the politeness and professionalism of every member. Victor, Rayner, Dariel, Harrold & Lena in particular who looked after us so well every day (also Donald the chef!).

I could go on for ages about more positive things but all you really need to know on reading this is that you wont be dissapointed - the villas/rooms are amazing, the staff are brilliant, the whole place is spectacular (we also recommend going on morning walks through the forest at the hotel to the waterfalls for a wake up swim before breakfast each day!). The food at the resturant is great (as are local resturarants like Citrus & Exotic in Ojachal). And all in all it was good value.

one piece of advice though - rent a 4x4. The location of the resort up the hill is all part of it's charm and I wouldnt change that, but you do need a 4x4 to give you freedom.

Good luck & enjoy the adventure!

Will & Michelle

Room Tip: Room 3 (Ocean view and very private was perfect for us). All of them are great though.

It was my impression based on website photos that it's near the beach when in reality it is very far from the beach. We had planned on doing excursions when we were there however their book of excursions was pretty limited and none of them provided pick up/ drop off - I have been on countless excursions in other countries and I have never run into this problem. It's only annoying because my boyfriend called ahead and they said no big deal and that people come without a car all the time and we wouldn't need one. That, combined with the long (3k +) walk to town made us sitting ducks for about 5 days. With that being said, it's great place to be stuck. The hotel is beautiful, the food and drinks are fantastic, and Victor is absolutely top notch! Drinking your morning coffee while sitting by the pool is heaven. If you're expecting to be in a lively beach community with activities and bars and restaurants within a reasonable walking distance, this isn't for you. If you're looking for a gorgeous and very secluded hotel to unwind at for a few days, this is it!

It may be called Oxygen for a reason… the air is touch fresher up there, the view will take your breath away and daily toucan show is a treat. Savour a drink in the infinity pool - perhaps Victor and Dariel will shake up a killer margarita for you :)
The cabinas are nothing short of spectacular, as long as you love modern glass

We were so excited for this stop on our vacation and we were not disappointed! We drove from San Jose to this hotel and stayed December 8 to December 11 to finish off our 10 day vacation in Costa Rica.
We rented an 4x4 SUV and really that's all you need, the drive up was not as bad as we expected having read all of the reviews we were truly prepared for the worst! They were even fixing the road during our vacation which is something i believe they do regularly after each rainy season.
When we arrived we were greeted by friendly staff and gifted a welcome drink with alcohol as I think many people may need it after the ride up. We were shown to our room by the staff member who carried both mine and my wife's luggage (heavy)! Being a same sex couple we are always a bit nervous of how we will be received but here we were truly treated like queens.
The staff: Amazing! Victor was our favourite as I'm sure you will experience. Helpful, fun, chatty and quick. Ask for an exotic mojito, this guy certainly knows his way around the bar and had a hand in crafting the drink menu. On my wife's birthday the staff presented her with a brownie and sang happy birthday to her, totally their idea and on the house. Very sweet!
The room: it takes a while for the room to cool off once you arrive, I'm sure it would be difficult for them to time but perhaps the day of check-in they could turn on the air conditioning in the morning so it would be cool upon arrival? Small thing really just a suggestion. The room itself was beautiful, luxurious and totally private. The bed was comfy, the shower was amazing! It truly felt like you were sleeping in the middle of the jungle. One other thought I had was that robes would be nice to have in the room. I'm sure they will have them the next time we are there as the new management listens and asked us to fill out a comment card on ways to improve upon checkout.
The food: the chef was awesome (I believe he is new as there are previous complaints about the food) we tried many different things and even enjoyed room service one evening as suggested by victor, at no extra cost. We ate a number of meals here and drank quite a bit, our bill was not astronomical and I think is in line with what one should expect with this type of boutique hotel.
We're Canadian which means we're big tippers! Each staff member was surprised and thankful when we tipped the, very refreshing! We will definitely be back and will certainly send our friends who are looking for a relaxing vacation in beautiful Costa Rica!
