“Great Place to Stay!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 November 2013

My Wife and I stayed for our honeymoon Monday through Friday 11/18-11/22 and were extremely pleased with our stay (Villa #5) The look and feel of the place is stellar. Loved the bar/dining room area and the infinity pool. Great place to relax and get some sun and drink their signature Banana Colada drink. The actual Villa we stayed in was awesome. Great view, very comfy and had all the little things needed to feel comfortable throughout the week (mini fridge, hot plates, kitchen supplies, free coffee/pot). We had dinner there the first night and it was really tasty, and their free breakfast was consistently great. They are still developing the bar and dinner menus but they are definitely on the right track. Very well priced! Hands down though, the staff was GREAT. All were very accommodating and very nice (special shout out to Gary who ended up waiting on us quite a bit Que Mai!) The only drawback with our stay was that they were doing some loud construction during the first couple of days right next to our Villa (which is hard to accept on a dream honeymoon vacation), but that was quickly taken care of and compensated for, which shows how responsive the management and staff are. Highly recommended! Would definitely return, maybe for an anniversary. :0)

Dear Matt D!
Thank you very much for your review and choosing TikiVillas as part of your special honeymoon stay! We are pleased you enjoyed our service, staff and installations. We are also glad to hear the feedback on our Jungle Blue restaurant dinner. We have been refining our menu to locally sourced fresh products and a tropical Latin – Costarican gourmet food. Unfortunately we were doing the last touches to our new parking that were not supposed to take more than 3 hours… Builders… Anyway, all upgrades are now done and we do not foresee any further disturbances to our future guests. We wish you all the best and look forward to welcoming you again maybe your anniversary! Pura Vida! Cindy & Thomas

We went to Tiki Villas for two nights and ended up staying four...On arrival, my husband, daughter and I were welcomed with a delicious cocktail and taken to our villa (No 1). The villa consists of an open space with a king size and a single bed, a kitchenette and a bathroom with walk-in wardrobe. Despite us being three persons, we never felt cramped as the space is very generous and concertina doors opened to a large balcony with a spectacular view of the ocean and the immediate jungle. From here we spotted monkeys, toucans, hawks and other wildlife. The place was spotlessly clean. We had delicious breakfasts every morning in the reception/restaurant area, where the beautiful infinity swimming pool is located. Richard, the manager, couldn't have been more helpful or kinder: he helped us with our choice of restaurants, recommended safe ocean swimming areas, booked tours for us and many other things. We had the best holiday and fully recommend this place to anybody travelling to Uvita. A couple of considerations are that the place doesn't cater for children and that a four-wheel drive vehicle is required for the access road to the property.

Dear Travellingtoucanette!
Thank you very much for your wonderful review! We are so pleased to hear feedback from our guests, and know we are on the correct path to making a unique and special experience in the Costa Rican Rainforest! We have now installed a new parking and access that will no longer require 4x4 (though always recommended for the area) as well as excited with new guest services recently launched like the Rainforest SPA and wellness center as well as our signature restaurant Jungle Blue! We look forward to welcoming you again to TikiVillas on your next visit to the area! Pura Vida! Cindy & Thomas

I stayed in Tiki Villas in March of 2013 and, while I was initially skeptical about the open-air aspect of being in the jungle, it could not have worked out better. The rooms were awesome and private to where you could sleep with the doors open and experience the sunrise and sunset. The staff was great and Gary and Edgar were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about the area and recommended a lot of great restaurants, adventures, and beaches. We were able to go on adventures in the morning, relax by the pool in the afternoon, and watch the sunset with probably too many of their delicious banana coladas (which I also recommend getting like 12 of). If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Uvita, you have to stay here.

My review comes a little late but, as they say, better late than never! My boyfriend and I stayed in villa No 4 at TikiVillas twice during our Costa Rican trip in July 2013 and we loved it. It was a welcome break after ‘roughing it’ a little in Osa and makes for a great stopover on your way from Osa to SJO or Manuel Antonio or the Caribbean coast. The Uvita area itself is certainly worth exploring by itself as well.

The hotel is excellent by any standards. It is set on a serene hill overlooking the coastline below. It provides an incredibly relaxing experience in an intimate atmosphere. The villas are beautifully appointed and have private kitchenette areas. Each villa comes with its own balcony and sea view. In addition to an indoor bathroom one might also enjoy an outdoor shower surrounded and protected from view by lush greenery. Everything is spotlessly clean. There’s AC and free wi-fi and free, secure parking. On top of that, the guest can have a dip in a beautiful infinity pool located in the breakfast/bar/reception area, which is a lot of fun especially if the weather gets bad.

The room price includes a delicious breakfast a la carte. I highly recommend opting for the traditional Costa Rican breakfast – it’s great! Regardless of your preference, the service starts with a fresh fruit salad and a glass of juice as well as tea/coffee/cocoa.

Finally, a good part of what makes the hotel so good is definitely its staff! Everyone there, but especially Richard and Jesus are super professional, helpful, and very friendly! They made us feel welcome and were full of helpful advice. They are a great bunch.

While visiting you should visit Marino Ballena National Park and take a long walk along the gorgeous beach at low tide. I also loved visiting the nearby Baru Reserve – it’s excellent for wildlife watching.

You’ll need to rent a car to get to the hotel, and you will also need a car to go get some dinner, but there are plenty of restaurants within a very short ride.

The only problem I can think of is that sometimes the Internet connection fades away inside the villas, but it’s always strong and fast at the reception were you can be seated comfortably and serve the Web all you want.

Overall, everything from the staff and the setting to the premises themselves was perfect and I would definitely return.

I have been traveling to Costa Rica for over 20 years and had heard that this Lodge had changed hands. Although it was the rainy season the staff was very professional and the breakfast that was included with the casita was excellent. I must same I am a snob when it comes to atmosphere and this property does an excellent job with their lighting both on the property and their rooms. Would definitely plan on staying there again soon. One minor complaint which they cannot control was there was a little road noise.

Room Tip: Room 4 had a beautiful ocean view

This was our last stop in Costa Rica before heading home. Wish we could have stayed longer. Clean, gorgeous views, welcoming staff, beautiful pool and amazing service. Couldn't recommend it more. Breakfast was great and delicious. The waterfall nearby was also fun and cheap! Highly recommended from both my fiancé and I.

We had the great fortune to discover TikiVillas as a wedding reception venue. Most importantly our new son in law’s family booked all the rooms and were happy that we chose this place to have them stay during the 4 days of the Indian wedding celebration. We had 140 guests come from all over the world. They all were asking us “how did you discover this awesome place! It couldn’t have turned out any better. Our new in laws loved the accommodations and found them well designed and beautifully appointed in a style fitting for the location. The owners, Thomas and his wife Cindy, were extremely helpful in setting up the reception at the hotel´s beautiful bar and lounge area. Thomas helped tend the bar for us and even did the honor of lighting the fire works off at midnight since it was a New Years eve wedding.
The villas are surrounded by jungle but you still have a breathtaking over the top view of the ocean, since all building were build up on pillars or on the highest area on the hill. The only problem was that the driveway up to it is very steep and may require 4 wheel drive to reach if you’re an inexperienced driver. I made it up fine in our Toyota without ever needing to put it into 4 wheel drive. I understand they are working on remedying this issue by the construction of an additional parking lot.
Great place to get way into the jungle in style.
