My boyfriend booked this place for us to stay while visiting the Uvita area. I loved it when I saw the pictures online before we traveled and really looked forward to staying there. Actually being there surpassed my expectations. The casitas are very livable - airy, bright, plenty of space, nice kitchen area to cook (or not), big window and porch that face Rio Morete. The grounds, including the pool, are beautiful. I walked around every morning and drank a coffee on the porch. We spotted many types of birds and could hear the howlers off in the tall trees. The hosts, Rachel and Steve, are lovely. They are personable and friendly, and good sources of information, without being intrusive. I recommend walking the river to the nearby falls. I did not want to leave and would go back in a hearbeat! I highly recommend the location for a peaceful and beautiful stay.
The stylish and comfortable casitas are set in some of the most beautiful tropical gardens imaginable. They're private and very quiet with easy access to the river. On the opposite bank is a large area of protected forest with a huge variety of birds, monkeys, butterflies etc giving the whole experience a wild and remote feeling. And yet the site is really handy for the main coast road and the nearby beaches should you want them. The owners, Rachel and Steve were friendly and very helpful (especially when our hire-car's battery let us down!) and yet never intrusive, despite always being on hand. A real slice of tropical paradise with a sizable pool in what has to be one of the most gorgeous settings for a relaxing swim.
Photos and words simply cannot do justice to this property, or these hosts. Rachel and Steve's casitas are absolutely magical. The gardens are immaculate and surprisingly private given that there are three casitas on the property. All 3 casitas were occupied while we were there but we never ended up sharing the pool or the gardens with anyone else, so we were able to get some real R&R. One of our favorite aspects of their property was the river that runs through their backyard. It leads up to a beautiful, secluded, virtually unknown waterfall and swimming hole. We took advantage of the opportunity and made the trek - well worth it. Rachel and Steve gave us several recommendations for activities and dining - all were spot on. Mangrove tours, amazing food, lots of waterfalls, and breathtaking nature are all within reach from their Casitas. The casitas are just off the main road. Rachel will send very explicit directions before you arrive. If you follow them, you'll have absolutely no problem finding their home. Don't hesitate to book with Rachel and Steve. You won't regret it.
This place is just beautiful! My wife and I have always stayed on/near the beach, but wanted to try something different. This property is that- right on the Rio Morete! Our 1st day we walked up (in) the river to the 3 tiered cascata (waterfall). Just fantastic. The garden is spectacular, so beautiful! We sat on our porch and the beautiful birds came to us! Howler monkeys singing in the background. Our daily ritual became a busy day doing all the great activities in the area and coming back to swim in the wonderful pool. The only thing equally great to the above is Rachel and Steve; the owners. Pleasant to socialize with and extremely helpful with everything we enquired about. Take a chance get on the river!!
Casitas Del Rio is an absolutely stunning and perfect location to see Uvita.
The Location on the river is superb with a real feeling of being in the jungle and with all that this offers. The Casistas are well equipped and with a choice of dipping your toes or more In either the river or the elegant pool, you really spoilt for choice.
The views are spectacular the showers powerful and an easy car ride to get to all the local amenities. The garden is an abundance of flora and fauna coupled with seeing amazing wildlife from beautiful butterfly's and birds to possibly a wild pig or sloth!
The owners Rachel and Steve are extremely courteous and helpful. A lovely couple who greet you and can't do enough to make sure your stay is one that is comfortable and knowledgable, so you know where to go and what to do during your stay. Perfect hosts!
This was one of the best holidays I have ever been on and i would highly recommend staying at Casitas Del Rio when you visit Uvita.
The days we lived at Casitas del Rio were by far the best of the three weeks we spent in Costa Rica. Wonderful, comfortable and spotless clean cabins (with proper mosquito nets) surrounded by a lavish gardens in the middle of nowhere, just in front of a creek, with plenty of open air space to have breakfast with the hummingbirds or just lay down under a sky full of stars, surrounded by the noise of the forest and the fireflies, or to read under the cover of the fantastic cabin's porch meanwhile a majestic storm thunders outside. As awesome as it sounds. The area is also beautiful, with great beaches around (not just Marino Ballena) and quiet good life, but honestly, you can spend the whole day at Casitas del Rio with no regrets.

Casitas del Rio is located in a beautiful and quiet place next to a river.
The apartment where we stayed was comfortable, big enough and perfectly clean. It also has a kitchen for basic cooking.
The British couple who owns Casitas del Rio were really nice. They helped us to find restaurants and places whereto go.
The only inconvenient is that meals are not available. In any case, you have your own kitchen to cook and Uvita area is plenty of restaurants and supermarkets.
From Casitas del Rio you can walk up to the river and after 20-25 minutes you can find a waterfall which is awe-inspiring.
Casitas del Rio is a really good place to go, you won't regret!
