“The best vacations!!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 December 2010

My fiancée and I were looking for a very special place to enjoy a pre-Holiday private retreat. Being from Costa Rica, we did not know about Rancho Pacifico until we saw it mentioned on one of our most popular TV features called 7 Stars – as one of Costa Rica’s 7 best hotels. They said it had the most spectacular view in our country and that it was the most exclusive hotel in Costa Rica - that attracts many celebrity guests. It all sounded fabulous so we decided to go.

We were amazed at every aspect of Rancho Pacifico from the moment we arrived. We even loved the access road that takes you through the most breath-taking primary rainforest you can imagine. We have both traveled extensively in Costa Rica and thought we had seen everything. But when we were at Rancho Pacifico we realized that what we saw on TV was 100% right – everything we experienced was in a whole new class.

When we arrived there was a famous European entertainer there and we heard that some very prominent figures from the U.S. had recently left. I have to admit I was excited that those kind of people come to my country and love Rancho Pacifico – it just adds to the atmosphere.

But at the same time, RP is completely relaxed and not pretentious. All guests are treated equally – we felt like we were the most important people who have ever been there!

Our days at RP passed much too quickly and it was hard to say good-bye to the magic you find there. The spectacular environment, the sense of privacy, and the interaction with other interesting guests make it absolutely unique. And the staff, as so many guests have said, is without doubt, second to none. Everyone who works there is Costa Rican – and are dedicated to your complete satisfaction. You can feel how proud they are to be part of what they call the RP family.

RP has everything going for it – the location, the staff, the food (unbelievable!) and the spa (there is really nothing like it – it’s like a dream). It certainly isn’t a budget hotel – but with all you get we found it to be like a bargain. It’s impossible to imagine anyone not being satisfied beyond their highest expectations at Rancho Pacifico.

I feel very fortunate to have found Rancho Pacifico. I helped plan a Costa Rican vacation with my girlfriend, sister, and brother in law over the course of a few weeks and we eventually decided on RP. Not knowing anything at all about where we were headed, we decided to once again trust the Tripadvisor members' reviews. Anyone reading the reviews of Rancho Pacifico can already tell that the place has made many people very happy with their vacations. After being home now for almost a week, I found all of the positive reviews to be very true and I was having a hard time putting my finger on why I felt better than I had expected even knowing that this place was highly regarded. Yes, the food was terrific, the views and surroundings breathtaking, the two bedroom villa perfect, and the spa was so unique and relaxing one could imagine staying for the rest of their life. However, that would not have captured what I want to share with all of you. When we were at Rancho Pacifico, it felt like staying with old friends. The resort is already very small and private, but it had the extra feeling of it being your very own. Silvia and Garrison were the most gracious and friendly hosts, we spent a lot of time sharing stories with them every day. I could also list off something special about each one of their wonderful staff(that is how friendly and memorable they are) and they are the best staff I have ever met; they made us feel at home. We all feel like we have made new friends and our trip was as perfect as could be. I would go out of my way to recommend Rancho Pacifico to anyone.

Tips if you are going:
1. I would definitely fly into Quepos from San Jose next time, we took RPs ground transpo.
2. Go on the Sierpe River tour.
3. Take an ATV adventure.
4. Plan on eating at Rancho every night for dinner, it is a new meal every night and the quality and value are exceptional.
5. Enjoy the "Drink of the Day" with Vionay the Barman, they are delicious!
6. Check out their website for some helpful tips before booking and before your arrival

Especially when expectations are high, we are always pleased when our guests have a memorable experience with us. Clearly, these guests understood and appreciated the personal service and one-of-a-kind location that has allowed Rancho Pacifico to earn its publicly recognized and award-winning reputation.

And yes, we are blessed to have made many guests "happy" over the years. Despite our history of hosting vacations for many well-known Celebrities and Public figures - our philosophy remains that the most important guest is our current one. We are all glad that they felt the sincerity of this commitment.

We want to thank them for passing along their suggestions to future guests, which based on their own experiences make them very valuable.

We stayed at Rancho Pacifico in the one-bedroom villa at the end of August, 2010. First, I wanted to address the weather because that was a concern of ours. The weather is unpredictable and many say August is the rainy season. However, we had great weather during our stay. Most days remained sunny until mid-afternoon, at which point we would experience some clouds, usually followed by an evening rain shower. There were only a few longer nighttime showers and one day we went completely without rain. Obviously none of this reflects at all on the resort, but I hope it may encourage more summer travels.
The staff at RP is amazing. Our flights were delayed and thus our plans to take the puddle jumper from San Jose to Quepos fell apart. We called RP while delayed in Atlanta and whoever we spoke with (Alex?) said "no problem," and sent a taxi to meet us upon our much-delayed midnight arrival in San Jose. We arrived at RP at 2 or 3 in the morning--exhausted--and were met by Alex, who showed us to our fabulous villa. After the most horrible day of airport shenanigans, everything at RP was so easy--such a relief!
We woke up the next morning and realized we were in paradise. The view was amazing and the resort was so peaceful. We did leave to do various activities many days--surfing, four-wheeling, deep sea fishing--but some of our favorite times were spent at the resort or hiking down to the waterfall on RP property (so beautiful, a definite must!). You absolutely cannot lose with this place. We adored it--the perfect honeymoon or vacation spot without a doubt.
Our last day can probably best summarize our trip. It was my birthday and the last day of our honeymoon. Garrison arranged for us to go deep sea fishing, along with 2 other couples who we met while at RP and with whom we became fast friends. (The reviews about the social cocktail hours are true--we spent an hour or two every night at the bar before dinner and really enjoyed getting to know the other guests.) We caught 11 tuna and had a fantastic day out on the water. We brought the tuna back to RP and the kitchen staff created the most delicious tuna carpaccio for the cocktail hour snack. SO good. Then the staff put on the nicest birthday surprise for me--they made me a cake and truly made it the most special day. It was so thoughtful and something I will always remember.
Don't hesitate planning a trip to Rancho Pacifico. We give it the absolute highest of recommendations. Enjoy!

My husband and I came to Rancho at the end of October for our honeymoon. We were greeted by the friendliest man who was so kind to drive us 4 hours from San Jose to our lovely treehouse! Miss you Fabian! When we arrived at Rancho, we were greeted by the rest of the staff (fresh squeezed juice in hand) who were nothing short of perfect to us the rest of the week.
It rained for most of our stay because of a tropical storm nearby, but it ended up being a blessing in disguise. We got to know the staff REALLY well and ended up making some life-long friends who were also staying there. Garrison (the owner) was always coming up with cool ideas for us to experience so we could get the full effect of Costa Rica even if it was raining! He's awesome!!!

We couldn't have asked for a more better staff and service and we will DEFINITELY be back!

Miss you guys so much!

We went for our Anniversary and it was everything we could ever have hoped. Beautiful location, great experiences, and staff that only goal is to please you. Oh and did I mention the food - fantastic.
It is a small hotel with a first class attitude. You feel like more of a family friend than a guest.

Recently returned from a visit to Rancho Pacifico, and can say it was one of the best vacations possible. The intimate nature of the design of the resort, coupled with its secluded location, make this the ideal location for a magical vacation. The service and accomodations are first rate, and all of the staff were professional and prompt in arranging for any and all off property excursions.

We went to Rancho Pacifico on our honeymoon and just returned. All we can say is AMAZING! The views, the rooms, the staff (OMG - the best EVER!), the food, we could go on forever. We just arrived home and we already miss it! The staff could not have been any lovelier. I seriously feel like we made friends for a lifetime in a few of them. We definitely have a whole new family in Costa Rica now, that is for sure! And the food?! Everything we ate was absolutely delicious. From the homemade muffins, to the sushi, the wraps with homemade tortillas, the fish and dessert. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. The spa therapists were out of this world. So friendly, knowledgeable and relaxing. I wanted to bring them home with us! The location is one of a kind and we could sit outside for hours and just watch the wildlife all around. We will definitely be recommending RP to all our friends and have already put it on our "must do again" list.

We haven't uploaded our pics yet, but will do so ASAP!
