I stayed few days in the Tucan and had a good time. Very friendly and knowledge owner. Will tell you what to do and where to go. Offers sometimes free transport to the park and beach.
Small but nice and clean private rooms, very small dorms, left and right a communal area with hammocks, free coffee, good breakfast and restaurant. It's not real a hotel but a charming backpackers hub - and the only one in Uvita to meet other travellers.

I came to the Tucan with my boyfriend after spraining my foot and desperately needing a ground level room during high season! Elizabeth and her husband were able to accommodate us and went out of their way to make sure we were happy and to help me recover. This included helping me find a doctor, providing me with a cane and checking in on me to make sure I was okay and had everything I needed- all while preparing Holiday festivities. These are remarkable people and the atmosphere was relaxed, sociable and music friendly. The room was cute and with the Christmas dinner and pot-luck, this will be a Holiday and a hostel I will always remember.

Room Tip: We had a private room and private bath but they also have dorms available. Great rates for high seas...

Walking distance from bus stop north and south on Pacific Coast road.
A wide variety of ages and nationalities stop by here and there are several different types of rooms from private to four bed dorm. Restaurant, bar, and community kitchen, good sodas around and several inexpensive activities. Kid friendly, Free beach shuttles, Free Coffee..... hmmm, I think I'll go back

This hostel is really a nice and cozy place. The rooms are clean but still cheap, bathrooms have hot water showers. The italian owner is very friendly and helpful and helps wherever she can. On the weekends you can enjoy funny jam-sessions. It is definitely one of the best hostels in Costa Rica.

We were looking for a place to relax after a lot of traveling & were happy with the Tucan. We tried surfing for a day with "Rama" who was fun but very unreliable . The hostal has great internet connection and the restaurant food is good .

A clean, pleasant, interesting and helpful simple place to stay in Uvita. The owner, Trey and all staff are helpful and friendly. With rooms on the outside and a open covered area on the inside, it's perfect for rain or sun when you're not on the beach or hiking. Yes it has TV, hammocks including hmmocks strung so you can lay in them while you watch TV, a resturant, breakfast, rabbits, tables, a kitchen area for guests to cook and store their own food, and, while we were there, a baby opposum.
The staff is very helpful with all information and will book all your activities. The beach in this area is very nice.

What a groovy little hostel! From the hammocks and cd's hanging from the ceiling as lightcatchers/lamps, this is a happening little place. The rooms are relatively clean and the folks are nice. The air conditioners are a great change of pace from the other hostels we encountered in CR. The food was very good and the prices were reasonable--except for the laundry! We made the mistake of having them do our laundry (we were desparate and there are no coin laundries in Costa Rica) They charged us $15 for a load of laundry and everything came back smelling cleaner but looking dirtier than when we gave it to them. Not only did it look grey and grundgy, there were rust marks all over as if it had been hanged on a rusty pipe. And, of course, my favorite shirt was gone. I would have been better off throwing away my clothes and starting over. I had to anyway.
