We stayed a week at this beautiful villa. The views were stunning. The grounds are covered in natural flora and fauna. We stayed in the 1 bedroom villa. Each floor had its own AC unit. The villa really captured the tropical setting inside and out. There was a fantastic view of the river from the porch and upstairs bedroom.
One morning we followed the river up to the secluded waterfall and swimming hole. We spent the afternoon swimming in cool mountain waters under the hot sun.
Paul and Sara the owners are fantastic. They helped us by booking tours, giving site seeing and dining suggestions. Thanks to them we had a superb time.

We were looking for a totally memorable holiday and found it in this hidden jewel in the jungle. The house was brilliant, it had spacious rooms to a very high standard and a fabulous kitchen dining area. The level of comfort and attention to detail was amazing. The owners were very helpfull and friendly and helped us choose trips to great places of interest.
There is a lovely pool and deck area from where you can look down the valley to the river and over the jungle. In the morning we could listen to the parrots and monkeys close by which was a unique experience for us. We absolutely loved it.
The Pacific coast is 5 minutes away with beaches and little restaurants. There are excellent excursions on the river and through the jungle to see the wildlife
One of the best holidays I have ever had. Our hosts Pauli and Sarah were brilliant.

Room Tip: There are 2 houses to hire. One sleeps 10, the other sleeps 2. Both are to a very high stardard, a...

Our party of 8 had a great stay here. Lots of room and comfort. We made good use of the pool and deck. Very Clean and well maintained. Our hosts were friendly and very helpful. While staying there we a boat trip to Corcovado - wonderful and several of our part went zip-lining at Baru. The birding was excellent.

Our family searched for the perfect place for us to spend several months away - we found it! It could not have been any better! Everything was perfect - STAFF FOOD PONDS POOL RIVER ACCOMODATIONS PEOPLE BEACH! We rented both villas and our whole family (and friends on occasion) had plenty of room. The owners have rennovated both villas and the main house and even started building a treehouse. Waterfalls down the river are beautiful as well. We are planning and looking forward to our next visit to Villas de las Aves - it is truly heaven!

My husband and I stayed at Villa Paloma for 2 nights in February, 2011.
The villa is charming. Sarah and Paul went out of their way to make our visit special. They have built beautiful villas which are quite unique. There were all sorts of lovely little touches, including champagne in the fridge when we arrived. The jacuzzi is a great addition. We also spent lots of time in the hammock. My husband did lots of birdwatching - from the comfy wicker armchair on the veranda as well as on walks around the property, along the river and up the road.
Although the villa had everything in it for us to make our own meals, we had heard so much about the wonderful food here that we decided to be decadent and take advantage of that. We requested a home-made pizza the night we arrived (it was great), as well as breakfast each morning (also fantastic) . Then the second night, we decided to treat ourselves to the full meal. It was a highlight for us - what a wonderful night! Sarah designed the menu in consultation with us, drove into town to pick up fresh fish from the local dock, and made an absolutely fabulous meal for us. Paul and Sarah lit the lights of the restaurant just for us - it was quite magical. Paul served us and entertained us with many interesting stories about living in Costa Rica (and much else besides). All in all, it was the best meal we have ever had!
Paul and Sarah are a delightful couple - both very interesting and generous. They really catered to our every need.
The two villas are fairly close to each other but are quite private. We never saw the other family who was staying there.
We would have been happy to have stayed longer.
We did not have a vehicle when we stayed at Villa Paloma. We arrived and left by cab. Because it is quite remote, it is probably a better idea to come with a rented vehicle unless you are happy planting yourself here for a few days of relaxation and solitude. It worked for us!!
Thanks so much, Sarah and Paul!!

We are very happy with our spontaneous decision to stay here. We had spent 2 weeks up in dusty Santa Teresa/Mal Pais and needed to breathe some fresh air and see some wildlife. Found this place on trip advisor and we're very happy we did. Only spent 2 nights in Villa La Paloma, but it was spotless clean (unlike our other stays in costa rica), Paul was a great host, and we saw amazing birds. The hot tub was great, we had the utmost privacy and the view of the river below was soothing. I've enclosed some great pic's of the villa itself. It's about 2.5km off the main hwy through Uvita and the road isn't in perfect shape, but they were working on it when we were there and we'd stay there again in a heartbeat. We did not take advantage of the restaurant which is there as they are only doing private reservations at this time.
