I went and read other reviews before I wrote mine and I can't believe I stayed at the same place. The room was fine, we actually had a beautiful terrace. The air conditioning was kind of pathetic but upon staying at other locations with air we realized this is common.
The reason our stay at this hotel was awful was the service. The woman who checked us in and out again did not smile once. My husband had the same opinion of her, cold and angry. I'm Canadian, we don't do cold and angry. I tried smiling and speaking in my friendliest tone but it seemed like everything we did rubbed her the wrong way. So, I didn't ask her much and just tried to avoid the need for assistance. Unfortunately for Burgas, this is the feeling we walked around with so we didn't really enjoy it very much.
There was a gentleman working overnight and he smiled and seemed very friendly but it couldn't erase the feeling we got from the woman who checked us in and out. I actually laughed as we drove away, as I said to my husband that I felt like she was happier having us leave than having us stay. Can't say I've ever felt that before.
For those of you who might wonder if it was something we did, I don't think so. I was speaking English as my Bulgarian is awful and she spoke some English. I would have been fine if I had to try out my use of our language guide. We asked for nothing during our stay. Maybe she was just having a bad day or something was going on personally, am not sure.
On a 2 1/2 week trip to 4 countries in Europe, on which we took 1600 pictures, we felt so awful staying here that we have no pictures at all.
