A charming hotel located right next to the beach.

We had a sea view room which I would recommend. The other rooms face the street which appealed less to us. The rooms themselves are bright and beautifully furnished and included aircon, mini bar, tv and telephone, free wifi (we found the best signal in reception or by the pool). Safety deposit boxes are available to hire but these are not in the room and remain next to reception instead. There are cleaners everywhere and as a result the hotel is utterly spotless.

The pool area is small but is clean has plenty of sunbeds.

All of the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The bar staff and reception staff in particular.

The bar is open from about 11am until 11pm. There is an extensive cocktail list and the prices are in keeping with local bars (ie they don't overcharge because you are in the hotel)

We stayed on a half board basis. Breakfast is ok but a little repetitive. There are the usual pastries etc as per a continental breakfast, a toaster and many varieties of egg to choose from (scrambled, fried, boiled). Dinner was a bit hit and miss. Some nights were considerably better than others. This was disappointing as the restaurant is clearly capable of serving lovely food as demonstrated by its popularity with the local people. At the start of the our holiday the service in the restaurant was questionable - we weren't offered drinks, plates took a long time to be cleared whilst the waiters appeared to be tripping over themselves to help guests who had walked in for dinner off the street, we felt as hotel guests we were getting a raw deal. We took this up with the general manager and these issues were soon resolved. The restaurant has a lovely terrace which looks out to sea.

I had two treatments in the spa which were easy to book through reception, good value for money and very relaxing! I didn't use the fitness room but stuck my head round the door and saw a treadmill, rower, bike and several free weights.

The hotel is a short walk from both the old and new towns. We much preferred the character of the old town with is cobbled streets, Cliffside bars and quirky shops.

Had a really good holiday here after an inconvenient start - arrived midnight (or thereabouts) room not available - but upgraded to another room for the night - at no extra charge to us (WHAT ?) Room for us not available to us until after 1.30.p.m. The following day. We found this quite inconvenient. Told it was due to very bad weather conditions. Speaking to someone about this the same day and they said the same thing happened to them. Has anyone else had the same sort of experience ? Would love to hear from you if you have. Good holiday good Hotel but really would like to know if anyone else has experienced this. They don't seem to have anything in the middle of average and v good. The hotel was good but serious questions about the "room not ready" LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU ON THIS QUERY

Room Tip: We had a sea view - some people we spoke to had a street room and would go there again

Good hotel, service, location, fridge, a/c, good lift, no noise, free wi fi & 3 English TV channels.
Food good but cold & not much selection.
Restaurants & shops all inexpensive
Beach good & lots museums, churches 16 & 18 century architectures
Walking distance to harbour & boat taxis/trips.
Staff were nice but did not speak much English.
There was an open air youth festival every night which was very entertaining.
Not wheelchair or buggy friendly pavements. Lots uphill walks all over & cobbled streets.
This was our first time in Sozopol & it was a welcomed change from the busy area of Sunny Beach.
Would definitely go back to this Hotel.

Room Tip: Sea view room is perfect plus your overlooking pool.

We arrived around 1am on a Monday morning and the initial welcome was good. The hotel was asleep for the night! We were able to go out to buy milk even at this time so we could have a coffee in our room. It would be good if the hotel provided tea & coffee making facilities in the room but we brought a mini kettle.
Breakfast here allows plenty of choices. You can have a fry-up although as expected bacon is not on the menu but scrambled eggs, boiled eggs and fried eggs make appearances. The toaster is very effective and there are croissants and other pastries. All the usual fruits and cheeses etc. Coffee was fine but fruit juices are very watery and have not seen some real fruit for some time.
One small tip. Never leave your table to get a second helping and expect your plates, cutlery etc. to be there when you return. They clear up faster than a CIA hit squad!
Some of the staff had basic English but the restaurant manager is a really friendly guy and has spent several years in the UK. A real credit to the hotel.
We had a sea view room above the restaurant. There was entertainment in the restaurant every evening until around 11.30pm. A singing duo who were entertaining enough even though their lyrics suggest they have limited English. We had no problems with noise in our room from the restaurant area although this may be different in peak season.
Our room had a small balcony which is a good place to sit to read and admire the sea-view but it never sees the sun. The twin beds are comfortable, there is plenty of storage and the traditional lack of coat hangers. A great power shower and plenty of hot water. Super flush on the toilet as well. The wi-fi in the room was more than adequate and signal extended to the pool area too. The room was spacious enough and the air-con effective.
We didn't try the massage and spa treatments. The pool area was clean with plenty of sun loungers. There was a bar service and prices were low compared to UK. There was also an outside terrace for the restaurant which was ideal for al-fresco dining at breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Overall we were very happy with Hotel Selena. It is well located within a few minutes walk of the Old Town and right on the beach. The staff were always willing to help and were keen to keep the hotel clean and tidy. A great choice in Sozopol.

This hotel is very good - excellent location near the old town, so within easy walking distance of shops, cafes, park, harbour etc. and just a minute from the lovely beach. The rooms are spacious and very clean, and the shower was really excellent. We were staying on a bed and breakfast basis, and thought the breakfast was very good, with plenty of choice and variety. My only complaint was the endless 'music' being piped out; I did not enjoy listening to Whitney Houston/Chris de Burgh etc. warbling when I was eating and would have preferred the sound of the sea. I had a room with a balcony and excellent sea view, but suffered from the noise from downstairs and from a nearby bar at night - often the music was playing until 3 a.m. I had to resort to closing the door and using the air conditioning, but would have preferred to sleep to the sound of the waves.

Room Tip: Rooms with a sea view - and a view of the lights in the old town at night - are worth having, but, s...

We stayed at Selena Hotel in April 2014. The hotel is located right on the beach- only a few hotels have a direct beach access.

Very friendly staff and very knowledgeable.

The hotel has a restaurant which all the staff raved about. We had a meal there and I can say without a doubt that it was the best dinner we had during our entire trip in Bulgaria. The menu was varied and the quality of food was great with a reasonable price tag.

The hotel is located a few minutes walk from the old and new towns. No need for taxis.

On the downside......the hotel has a massage and spa centre. I had a massage done and thought that it was a waste of money. I had asked for a deep massage and ended up coming out soaked in oil only. It was just a session of having oil applied gently! Definitely not a deep tissue massage. Would have rather sat and soaked some sunshine.

My wife had a treatment done at the spa and was happy with it.

We would definitely stay at this hotel again.

I have stayed at this hotel multiple times and the quality of services has been consistently excellent. The location is hard to beat, with rooms offering stunning look at the Old City and the bay (obviously you have to pay a bit extra for the view, but it is well worth it!). The hotel is right on the beach, and only a 10 min walk from the OId City with its historic buildings, artistic cafes and traditional restaurants. All the good bars and nightclubs (though not as many in Sozopol as in other beach resort towns in Bulgaria) are also nearby, although I have never had to complain about noise, which is rare for Bulgarian resorts. The staff is friendly and helpful and rooms include free wireless internet. The restaurant of the hotel was actually better than most of the restaurants we have visited in the Sozopol area over the past 3-4 years. The pool is rather small, but the area surrounding it on the second floor of the hotel is rather nice and the sea is practically outside your doorstep. The last time I was there, my girlfriend actually had their chocolate massage at the spa and loved it. I am Bulgarian and have over the years stayed in many different hotels along the coast. There may be benefits of searching for a different hotel north of Burgas if you are more into the partying all night thing. However, overall, Hotel Selena is a magical place and I would highly recommend it for families and young couples.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view. The back side of the hotel offers rooms with view of the new city and is...
