“Music while you dine!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 September 2012

A guy playing guitar and singing in the early evening for the diners seated outside and closeness to our hotel was what attracted us. If you don't want music, he finished at about 8 p.m.
Good bistro food and fast, efficient service made this an enjoyable experience - despite the square not being at its best due to roadworks on the cobbles. Great fun a bit later when storm clouds rolled in, thunder and lightning began and then the heavens opened! Everyone picked up their plates and ran inside to find a seat - very communal!

Not gourmet dining but go for easy dining, good portions and well-priced food with good friendly service.

“We all had the Plat de Jour -”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 August 2012

and it was really delicious! A perfectly grilled white fish filet with a light Bearnaise, accompanied by white rice and a perfect French salad. We especially appreciated the lightness of the meal, as we had come from Germany via Freiburg that day and were lusting for a good French salad and marvelous French sauce. The wine list is excellent, and although we only sampled one dish offered, the place was very busy and all the customers we saw were certainly enjoying their selections. It is right on the city's main square (which was dotted with artists during a local art festival). Highly recommended.

“simple family restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 September 2011

wasn't going to eat here due to previous reviews, but was glad we ended up here. Typical French town centre cafe/restaurant quite old-fashioned, and will admit they seemed a little overwhelmed by a few groups coming in at once, but very accomodating friendly lady who put up with our poor French!! The entrecote Langres (steak with local cheese) was delicious, and they tried to accomodate our fussy eater. Food obviously home cooked and fresh, reasonably priced, glad we ate here. Just note that if you like your steak well done, make sure you explain, but this is common throughout France! Langres beautiful old walled town.

“Good food VERY slow service”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2009

I strongly suggest you eat at the downstairs a'la'carte terrace and avoid the upstairs restaurant. Why? Well the food is very good, but the service is the worst I have ever encountered in a French restaurant even when compared to the worst in Paris. The Maitre'D was the only one serving and he took his time with every thing he did. We were first in the restaurant and as we waited interminably for each course to arrive or be cleared we watch as other unsuspecting guests arrived. The wait before menu's were handed to guests was typically 15 minutes, and to clear our plates took 45 minutes. It was not very busy so I do not know what he did in between attending to guests. Perhaps he was also the cook?

We were sitting by a large open window so could see the guests on the Terrace who were attended by three waiters seemed to receive very attentive service.

Definitely one to avoid unless you like to wait a LONG time between courses.
