I have stayed here several times, maybe even five times over the years and I don't think I've reviewed it yet. If I have it is long overdue for an update.

We went for a very spontaneous Friday night, staying in a superior, balcony room. These are by far the best.
Room is bright, comfortable and very clean, good modern bathrooms, excellent wifi and awaiting the hungry traveller downstairs, a really good restaurant. See separate review.

They also take dogs which always cheers me up!

Helpful reception and generally very well run establishment. It gets extremely busy and justifiably so, in the ski season. I think the older part of the hotel where I've stayed in the past is a tad tired, and definitely more traditional but not unpleasant. But aim for the new building and you won't be disappointed.

If staying on Friday there is a charming market on Saturday morning in the square just a short stroll down the hill.

Room Tip: There is a fitness room and jacuzzi I think but I didn't try it. Aim for a superior room 18,19...

During our 2-day getaway to Ax-les-thermes we stayed for 1 night in a suprerior room with a balcony and the view on the river and mountains. The room was very cosy with comfortable bed, extra pillows. I was surprised to discover nice bathroom amenities as soaps and shampoo/shower gels. The bathroom also had a balcony, which is rare.
Reception staff was very friendly and helpful. We were able check in before noon and on departure leave our luggage for the day.
The hotel is about 5 min walk to the center and 8 min to the thermes Le Bains du Couloubret.

Great hotel in a beautiful location. The staff were helpful and friendly. The room was clean and pleasant (looked as though it had recently been renovated) with two balconies and fabulous views. Will definitely visit again. Highly recommended.

Traveled with. friends. Granted it is the "off" season and things have quieted down until ski season. Some amenities were not available in the hotel and the town. We had a fine time. Staff were very helpful in arranging some transportation. Our room was clean, comfortable and met our needs.

Room Tip: Be sure to inquire how the room faces . and which section of the hotel the room is in.

The hotel is well situated, and with a bit of luck it is possible to find a parking place not too far off. However, we were disagreeably surprised by the big difference between the rooms in the old part of the hotel and the new part. Rooms in the new part, though expensive, are comfortable enough. In the old part, rooms are of another age altogether and seem to belong to a much lower category: in want of painting and repair, not soundproof at all, with bad lighting, too small beds, insufficient furniture, and so on. We would never have thought the same hotel could offer such different quality levels, and at not so different prices! Finally, as for breakfast, it's rather unlike the much-praised restaurant: little choice, tables not set, in a room serving as a passageway for clients and personnel.

Room Tip: Avoid the old part of the hotel.

Traditional type place. Our room suffered from a bit of paint missing here and there but otherwise as expected. Parking was on road outside hotel. All staff seemed friendly enough and the hotel is close to the main town.

We travelled in a large family group and had a perfect time. Not everyone did ski but Ax is great with pool, shopping, bars, proximity to Andorra...etc and the hotel itself has a Jacuzzi and massages are also available! For skying, just put your boots on and hop on the telepherique just a few hundred meters down to get right on the slopes! I very much recommend half board as the evening meals were simply amazing. Extremely varied, surprising (in a very nice way!), perfectly served yet in a relaxed atmosphere. To top it all, management and staff were very friendly, accommodated varied requirements (including two small kids) and in general made it an extremely comfortable place. We had a most relaxing time and will definitely come back.

Room Tip: Ask for the river if you like nature sounds to put you to slip. The windows are very efficient and w...
