“A Gastronomic Delight”
Reviewed 20 November 2013

On Saturday 16th November, on a day trip to Boulogne, we took a taxi (15 euroe) up to the Hotel Du Centre to re-live a lunch I had had some fifteen or so years previously. The Hotel restaurant had had a beautiful re-fit since that time and, although it had lost some of its 'old world charm', the welcome was still as warm. We hadn't booked for lunch, and, despite us being only two, were seated, in the window on a table for four where we partook of a delicious, three course, lunch, the sole meniere being utterly delicious and filleted at the table by lovely young chap who showed no shock at being asked if we could take our coffee out into the garden where we would like our bill to be delivered. Under 80 euros for three, very good, courses, wine and coffee. The hotel then were kind enough to order a taxi for us to return us to Boulogne. We will return again.....and again. I am unable to comment on the rooms, as didn't stay, but the Reception Staff (? the owners) were very pleasant and accommodating.

Did a spur of the moment trip across the channel and stayed one night in the Hotel du Centre. Very good location with parking. Room adequate and a good bed and great shower. Didn't book the restaurant ahead of arrival so had to scour Wimereux for somewhere to eat. Lots of choice but very, very popular. Really recommend booking ahead and sad not to try out the hotel's own brasserie. The hotel does not have a bar but luckily there is a super bar across the road. Hotel du Centre is really OK, if a little basic, as is the breakfast. Would use the hotel again and would like to give Wimereux more time in better weather.

Room Tip: Our room, no 30, was a decent double and overlooked the main street. No noise from outside. There...

It's not a good first impression when you walk into a hotel and the receptionist doesn't even bother to look your way, but just carries on with the conversation she was having with another group of guests. Fortunately the waiter in the restaurant noticed us standing there and fetched the patron. When we went up to our room, she was still talking.

Room was at the front of the hotel and extremely hot (this is October). Walls are paper thin, so you can hear everything from the next door room. The curtain didn't fit the window, so had to bundle it up on the windowsill to cut out some light. Too noisy to have the window open all night, too hot to have it closed.

Shower fitting on the wall broken, so had to have a bath instead.

On the plus side, the food in the restaurant was very good and I'd be happy to eat there again. Breakfast is self-service in a side room with plastic tables and chairs and a very strange blue light, but at least the coffee is good and not out of a machine.

We go to Wimereux fairly regularly, but wouldn't rush back to stay here.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back, overlooking the car park. Much quieter.

Lovely seaside town about 30 minutes drive south from Calais. It was ideal for us to stay over the night before returning to the UK. The hotel is on a busy street but the double glazing kept most of the noise out. Would not I think be good in very hot weather. And the bar opposite had very loud karaoke until past midnight. The room was basic but reasonably comfortable for one night. The manager and his family were great - so helpful looking up information for us. The restaurant surpassed the hotel - food was great both in the evening and breakfast. One very rude waiter who obviously did not like any foreigners and pretended not to understand anything at all that was said to him. It is what it is - a convenient stop with private car parking close to Calais.

I chose the hotel as a one night stop at the end of a holiday in France as a convenient place for the Eurotunnel. It was central (good for restaurants) and had private parking which was a bonus as the car was laden with Champagne and other expensive goodies.

The room (no.29) over looked the front street and had a small corner bath and sink in one area and a loo in another. The loo smelt of stale urine was was just big enough to do what you have to do with no ventilation and no sink!!

The flooring throughout the bedroom was plastic and there was not a single picture on the wall nor any form of decoration other than a few cushion on a sofa. Soulless doesn't begin to describe it.

I had requested a twin room for myself and female friend and the host was adamant the room was a twin, despite two single beds being pushed together with a shared duvet.

Breakfast was serve yourself to coffee from an urn, croissants, bread, cereal (I am gluten free and had advised the hotel in advance) sliced cheese and ham, which were not appetising. It was poor compared to other breakfasts in France and at 9 euros, the cafe opposite would have been a better option.

I wouldn't stay again or recommend it. The private parking wasn't worth the 89 Euro price.

There was a restaurant which seemed popular although we didn't eat there.

Room Tip: ask questions before you book so you aren't disappointed

Central location on main street - very busy in the day but quiet at night. The front bedroom was too small and the rubber sheet was not conducive to a good nights sleep. Moreover, the drains are due for an overhaul as our bathroom was smelly.
The Food was excellent, wonderful fish, freshly cooked.
We knew about the car park at the rear and found this without difficulty.
The absence of an elevator means that we shall not return, as the staircase is not "shallow" as the proprietor pretends.

Room Tip: Getting the rubber sheet removed would be a good start!
