Excellent hosts who made interesting conversation and instantly make guests feel at home. High quality and spacious rooms - would recommend those overlooking the sea. Incredible variety and volume of fresh bread and croissants for breakfast and interesting evening meals which are well worth trying. Location is perfect and was a pleasant change despite being such a short journey from the UK. Constant supply of free bottled water and sweets a nice touch

Room Tip: Blue and yellow rooms overlooking the sea

We LOVED it. From the minute I walk through the door my breath was taken away at the beauty and Frenchness of the hotel. Our room (the Bleu room) overlooked the promenade and was decorated in a french style with an eclectic twist. Thoughtfulness showed in every aspect of the room. Nespresso machine, kettle, a small bottle of delightful red wine, chocolates on the pillows of course, chairs and chaise lounge to relax in and look out over the sea, shutters to close out the sunlight if you want to sleep in, a bijou bathroom but modern and very clean. I loved it and am thrilled to have discovered such a treasure. Breakfast was amazing and I really could have stayed and eaten and eaten and eaten. Our hosts featured some local cheeses which were divine and it was nice to see that they supported local businesses. Even though they had their own little restaurant our host immediately asked if he could help us with dinner recommendations and even made a reservation for us at a lovely little restaurant just down the way. Our hosts were very welcoming and friendly and you immediately feel like you are a treasured guest. I just can't say enough good things about this place and am already looking forward to our next sojourn over there. Thank you La Goelette for a brief but memorable evening.

La Goelette is a delightful B & B in the best location in Wimereux, on the seafront. We have only stayed in the rooms overlooking the promenade and these are spacious and beautifully decorated. The house is full of character, the breakfasts are superb and the hosts are extremely welcoming and friendly and only too happy to help. I can only reiterate the positive comments that have already been made. It is so refreshing to find somewhere that is original and not a carbon copy of the usual run of the mill 'boutique' B & B', and a couple who enjoy their work. I can also highly recommend the restaurant.

Room Tip: The blue and yellow rooms are both excellent and both have sea views. I haven't stayed in the o...

We've been going to Wimereux, a seaside town that feels as though it's pleasantly stuck in the 60s, for the best part of 15 years now. Having stayed in many B&Bs over the years, La Goelette has become a benchmark.

Our preferred rooms are the blue and yellow rooms, both of which afford superb views over the promenade and sea.

The rooms have recently been tastefully and elegantly refurbished and provide a haven of peace and tranquillity from the hustle and bustle of activity on the seafront. The rooms are very comfortable and it's relaxing to sit with a glass of wine and watch the world go by, or to watch one of the many DVDs provided or to read a book.

The hosts, Mary and Franck, provide a fantastic breakfast to set you up for the day, including a wide range of fruits, cereals, charcuterie, cheese and seasonal products. There is also the possibility of dinner and Franck is a great cook!

Mary and Franck are happy to provide guest with information on where to visit, what to see and are more than happy to make restaurant reservations. In short, they will do their best to make sure that all guests have a most enjoyable stay.

The welcome at La Goelette is second to none and it is very popular, so sometimes you have to book well in advance. However, it really is an opportunity not to be missed! We're recently home from our latest visit and already planning our next one.

Room Tip: Blue or yellow rooms for the view.

No matter how good somewhere is, there always seem to be reviewers who delight in awarding the lowest rating possible. Perhaps that's the nature of internet reviewing. Anyway, do yourself a favour and ignore the nay-sayers below. We've stayed here on three or four occasions, and will continue to do so whenever passing through, if we can get a booking (it is very popular)!

The "Blue" and "Yellow" rooms have been tastefully re-furbished. Both provide a panoramic view over the sea-front at Wimereux. The rooms are large and comfortable, and a half-bottle of red wine was provided (and gratefully consumed). Electronic blinds closed out the light at night and provided a very restful night's sleep.

Breakfast was of a very high standard - a huge basket of croissants, pain-au-chocolat, lovely fresh bread, and a fine buffet selection, with freshly-squeezed orange juice and an excellent selection of cheeses and charcuterie.

This is a guest-house, not an hotel. So the owners may be out when you arrive, but if you call their number (on the door) they will admit you. If you don't like this, stay in an hotel.

We booked this hotel on the basis of Trip Adviser reviews written during 2011 and although not all were complementary the majority were OK and better than some of the other hotels in Wimereux.
However, if we had seen the reviews by Visitor09 and bobbieblue we could have avoided the disappointment of our stay.
We too arrived in gales and torrential rain to find the hotel completely closed up and if it hadn't been for the fact that we had guaranteed our booking with my credit card we would have just given up and moved on to another hotel.
Eventually the owner appeared an approached our car to say he would open up for us !
It was soon apparent that we were the only booking they had and we were shown a couple of different rooms that we could choose from. We were then told that we would have to go out for dinner as their restaurant was not open.
We looked forward to breakfast the next morning because of the reviews we had read but on seeing it could not see what the fuss was about. It was simply a cold buffet so it's hard to understand how any review could regard it as "gourmet".
That night their restaurant was open as they had some friends coming in so we decided to "eat in". We ate from the "menu" and it was good but in reality it would be difficult to see how it was worth £85.
We checked out the next morning and were shocked to find we had been charged £130 per night even though every other room was empty.
Yes, I agree with "bobbieblue" that the owners are delightful and hospitable but that doesn't really make up for poor value for money. We like French eccentricity in the hotels we stay at in France otherwise we would stay at one of their chains such as Novotel but "eccentricity" needs to be reflected in the price and the room we stayed in at La Goelette was certainly not worth more than £70-£80 in a low season.

We had reserved a room at an agreed price by email, yet when we arrived the place was completely shut up. It didn't help that there was a gale blowing and it was pouring with rain. When we phoned to try and get in, they said we didn't have a reservation and it was clear they couldn't have cared less. When we got back home and complained they showed no concern or regret for what had happened.

This seems like the sort of upside-down place which is run for the benefit of the owners, rather than the guests. Everything is fine as long as the guests do as the owners want them to.
