“Quaint hotel de charme”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 October 2013

My wife and I spent part of our 40th anniversary staying at the quaint but pleasant, Hotel Le Siecle in the heart of old Mazan. The hotel has a very relaxed atmosphere. The room we stayed in was dated but very clean and well maintained. The couple who own and manage the hotel are very pleasant and Mme. is extremely gracious and helpful. The breakfast buffet is simple, but hearty. Old Mazan is a realistic medieval village with a marvellous cathedral, an interesting museum, and great walking opportunities. We had good meals at the pizza place down the hill, and had two marvellous meals at higher end restaurants within walking distance. Mazan is in striking distance of the vineyards of Cote de Rhone, views from Mt. Ventoux, and the amazing gorge nearby. The gorge road is not for the faint of heart...narrow gauge, twisty and enormous drops off the edge of the cliffside...but breathtaking views. Its a cyclists' paradise.

Room Tip: The road into the hotel is really a tight, twisty set of medieval lanes. You wonder if you are goin...

I was there with 3 friends of mine and we were on an excursion to see the famous lavender fields of Provence. It was my first time there. The village itself is quite small and picturesque and the hotel is part of the quaintness. It is run by a very hospitable couple who were very accommodating and friendly. The rooms were immaculate and quiet, even though the bathroom was small. Breakfast was self serving, and the weather being excellent we used the front terrace to enjoy it. Tea was offered and brewed fresh. We very much felt at home. I definitely will go back if I'm in the area.

My wife son and I spent three nights here using Mazan as our base to explore the countryside and surrounding towns. The hotel is in a quiet location facing a large church and far enough above the main road to avoid the noise and bustle of car traffic. The rooms are nicely decorated and pleasantly appointed. Very agreeable and we will return.

Stayed for two nights to tour CdeR region for my favourite wines. Hotel is in the old part of Mazan and within walking distance of several restaurants and bars. Use your sat-nav to find it and believe the instructions! I used the chinese and the pizza place down the hill - both good. Hotel recently refurbished and rooms individually decorated. Facilities in room adequate to good. No air-con. Hotel is real B&B - no bar and no evening food. I passed on breakfast, so no comment there. Owners hospitable and willing to please. I'm not sure that Mazan would hold its spell on me for more than two nights, but it made an excellent stop-over this time around.

Visitors from Australia.
The hotel is an impeccably well-run establishment. It is unpretentious but charming and, though situated centrally in Mazan, offers the peace and serenity of a bygone age.

Mazan itself is an authentic provencal village so much the better for being off the beaten tourist track.

Mme. is gracious and friendly, always keen to help and to keep her guests happy but never obtrusive.

I would definitely return and thoroughly recommend this hotel.

WE turned up to this hotel desperate one night with no where to stay after a long drive. Although I rang the door bell two hours after reception officially closed, Isabelle answered the door and gave us a room despite the inconvenience. The room was gorgeous. Spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. Definitely good value for a hotel of this calibre in Provence. I would definitely stay here again. I was surprised and dissapointed to read a negative review of this place, I really can´t imagine it. The service was great and the hosts friendly and interested in their guests.

This hotel was advertised as being peaceful and tranquil, it was anything but the church clock strikes every hour on the hour and then just for good measure every half an hour, This is not quaint as previously described if you want to sleep, The other french guests sat outside the front windows shouting and talking all night and the square it over looks is very noisy with traffic until the early hours. The hotel had no air conditioning and it was 40 degrees the room was hot and stuffy even with the windows open, alot of the hotels we stayed in on this trip even though they didin't have air con gave us a large fan, at Le Siecle it was not offered. The bathroom is in a cupboard, the toilet has a pump like a chemical toilet very noisy. The room was in desperate need of redecoration it was very shabby. The hotel owner Isabelle was very rude. We booked for three nights and only stayed one it was that bad, we complained to the owner about the noise and the heat in the room but she wasn't interested. Had a great holiday and stayed in some great french hotels but this wasn't one of them.
