“Chic but regrettably shabby”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 September 2013

The phrase style over substance sums up this hotel and restaurant. Staff were clearly uninvolved at what was the end of the summer season and took a while to warm up which they did so the basics are there, they just need re-energising! The style of this hotel is simply fantastic. If only the standard that must have once existed could be recovered. Where are the owners and managers because their absence is clearly affecting standards? Maintenance and cleanliness were largely absent with no sign of a vacuum Hoover in evidence throughout our stay. Attention to detail was sadly lacking although immediately rectified once an awareness was created. Could things not just happen?
Further evidence of declining standards was the potager. Money had clearly been spent but again little or no subsequent care taken so that now it is pretty much dilapidated.
In summary, owners please get a grip and restore the wonderful bare bones back to their original glory!

Room Tip: Make sure that you book the larger houses and avoid the two smaller houses, Maison des Amoreux and M...

A marvelous hideout in the Provence, hidden and simply beautiful.
A designers dream, perfectly styled.
Superb service by a friendly staff.
Luxury, but without overdoing it.
You have a choice of ten houses.
The only minus is the restaurant, check it out, we preferred to eat out.
On 2014 the chef will change.

I have been at Domaine des Andeols in July 2013 for a week, and I enjoyed this accommodation so much.I was in an Honey-Moon trip, and I really suggest to a young couple an experience in this Hotel. Wonderful location, a unique culinary proof and the best relax I have ever tried,
and last but not least the price is affordable.
Regards Marco & Martina.

Room Tip: Of course I was sleeping in "La Chambre des Amoreux."

This was out third stay, and we went again despite the really bad reviews on trip advisor.
When we first went, the restaurants and the service were not as bad as described.
We though they would have addressed the issues in the meantime....
In all fairness, the service has improved, everybody is much helpful and friendly.
The quality of the restaurants though is still very mediocre, particularly for the price they charge!
And then there are annoying things like the fact that one has to pay the room rate for the full stay at arrival (despite the fact that it was 9:30pm and we were tired and quite hungry!), that only 4 coffee capsules per room are free of charge (can you believe it???), that they do not allow late check out (despite the hotel being quite empty), and that the cleaning of the room was very very poor.
The prices of the room are very high, but while one can justify the price because the domain is wonderful and the decoration of the room is outstanding, if they ask to pay food and service as a 5 stars luxury hotel, they should delivery food and service of a 5 stars luxury hotel, which is definitely not the case.
What a shame!
Paradise lost.....

Thanks for your feed back regarding the staff.
Regarding payment at the arrival I'm sorry but it's our policy and for memory we didn't charge anything at the Reservation, if you book in a sister hotel you need to pay at the booking...

My wife and I spent two nights at this wonderful property. The decor is a certainly non traditional but all the rooms seem to be very spacious, ours was a two level suite, the garden suite, complete with a lavender garden and a beautiful patio.. Our only complaint was a tired air conditioning system that needs a complete updating to handle he expanses of the suite. It was loud and noisy at night and cooled; but not adequately .
This small problem was more than offset by an incredible pool that is perfectly situated to provide sun and shade as needed. Pool side delivery of bowls of cherries from the estate provided a somewhat Bacchanalian at atmosphere that was very nice indeed.
We had intended to have only one dinner on the property but our first night was so good, fresh sea bream covered in sea salt that we returned for a second night that included a warm red mullet and local cheese type of tureen followed by some house made pasta and a great use of local fruits and vegetables. Wonderful local wines made it great fun. Breakfast each morning was also very well done with amazing breads, the best eggs in all of France and coffee that wants to make you linger.
Improve the air conditioning and we will be back to this serene, understated but beautiful property that is about 45 minutes from the Avignon airport.

I was initially very reluctant to go to this hotel. I had seen this hotel on Mr and Mrs Smith as well as Design Hotel website and days before our trip decided to look on tripadvisor. I could not believe how many bad reviews this hotel got. We, 2 adults and 3 kids, just came back from 4 nights at this hotel and had a lovely time. The rooms were wonderful, the beds were fabulous, and I am a VERY fussy sleeper. My 2 complaints about the hotel, and one is relatively minor, in our room there wasnt a comfortable couch to sit on. The one that was in there you could not sprawl out on and read a book. It was very modern and not comfortable- pity. My biggest fault with the hotel, and the reason I couldnt give it 5 stars, would be the restaurant. The food is Italian and is good/fine, but not great. The staff were absolutely lovely and extremely friendly and kind. We explored all the surrounding villages and markets and had a lovely time. Would certainly go back.

Room Tip: We are a family of 5 and stayed in the Cascade Room- has a private dipping pool and great views of t...

We spent a weekend a the domaine des Andeols with our 2 young daughters. The staff was very kind and helpful. It's not always easy to travel with children but they were very aware and supportive. We stayed in the room "la maison des amis" and we were very impressed by their understanding to put an extra bed for our oldest daughter and a baby cot for our youngest. They could have easily tried to sell us a bigger room!
We had dinner at the restaurant with our daughters as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Again the waiters were very kind with us and made sure that our little girls were well looked after. The food is correct. I am sure that some improvements can be made but as someone pointed out it's not a star michelin restaurant.
I can only say that we had a good time and we would definitely go back.
