“Wonderful views”

We had a great holiday here. Our room - 35 - was super with a great outdoor space. But do be aware that no matter what you pay the terraces, plunge pools etc are not private - most are actually pretty public. Even the Villa is very overlooked. Yes there are lots of steps but that actually is part of the charm. The parasols in the hotel could be bigger and more effective - it is actually quite difficult to get any shade at the hottest parts of the day. We ended up climbing up to Spiliotica in the afternoons to sit on their beautifully shaded terrace to enjoy wondeful drinks - much cheaper than those at Grace too!! Drinks and food were very expensive but you didn't have to go far to find alternatives.
Breakfast was very good, plenty champagne, excellent smoothies, some of the main course combinations were a bit odd though.
One complaint we did have was that our room was sometimes not made up till well into the afternoon which was annoying and make down in the evening was rather hot or miss.
So while we loved the location there is lots of room for improvement.

Stayed here for 5 nights at the end of June with my wife and couldn't have been happier. The views were breathtaking, services exceptional and food was top notch. Special thanks to Manos and Georgia who made our trip very special. Rooms were sparkling clean and serviced twice a day. Make sure to eat breakfast each day, its delicious. Lunch and Dinner were also fantastic! Only issue we had was a electrical outage in the room, which was immediately resolved by staff (thanks Michael). We stayed in a Jr. Suite with Plunge pool and the size of the room was good. Bathroom and showers were well appointed. Bed and pillows were SO comfortable. We actually bought a couple of pillow that the Grace uses when we got home. I could go on and on but you get the point, stay here!

People had mentioned there are a lot of stairs, which there are. However, I literally had a broken foot and still thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Don't let the stairs discourage you, just take it slow and enjoy!

We highly recommend the Grace and look forward to returning ourselves.

Overall this hotel was a pleasant stay. The views from the hotel are amazing and undoubtedly the best you will see in a Greek island. Well located for scenery in the middle of the Calderia to be able to see brilliant sunsets, good views of Oia and Fira.

The experience started off really well, with an efficient pick up in an air conditioned mini bus just for the two of us. We were offered a very welcomed cool towel and a bottle of water. The short journey of 15 minutes was very pleasant. The driver took the bags down the 70 odd steps down to reception in the heat, no mean feat.

Welcomed well in reception with nice glass of bubbly although felt bit rushed to get to our room.

Room 45 was ours down another 45 steps from reception, the room was immaculately clean and the most amazing view with fantastic sunsets and not overlooked.

From our room it was a minimum of 180 steps to the road which is where the tavernas and shops started. Fira is a 45 minute walk and has a pretty view with steps and the road which is less pretty but no steps. The walk back is quite tough so prepare yourself with cold water. The views on the way are however spectacular.

The room had nespresso coffee, some fruit, nuts and pringles. We thought wow nice start to the holiday. Later on we found out the nepresso coffee is 12 Euros, 4.50 for nuts and 3 Euros for the pringles. A number of the things in the room were not free so I would suggest you check and do not assume. The items that we free were limited to nescafe sachets and a kettle very poor for a five star establishment.

The second day was our anniversary, despite advising the hotel and during our stay but nothing was done, which was disappointing.

Turnover service was two bottles of water and three pieces of fruit every day. Water was appreciated but three pieces was poor and little variety.

Whilst receptionists are friendly, we found the information incorrect.

We asked about transport to the beaches and getting around the island and whether any buses could get us there, told no and we should go for a sailing trip and hire a car. The answer should have been yes, 1 euro 60c per person to get to Oia from our location. Most beaches are 2 Euros 50c from Fira and you can get a bus from the location to Fira. A further note is that the timetable for the buses from the hotel is incorrect.

We then decided to book a car hire from the hotel, whose full insurance (paid a premium) had a 500 euro excess, The car was an automatic despite not asking for one, and the car's performance was poor in the hilly areas. We returned it back after day 1 and asked the reception to ring the car hire company. This was not done as the car was still there the following afternoon. If you are booking a car, suggest you try Jimmys as they are cheaper ,better cars, less insurance excess and easier to collect and return.

The sailing trip recommended was excellent except for the transfer to the port, but you cannot blame the hotel for that. The receptionist did ring the company to complaint about the transfer. This trip is good as we only had four on our trips had up to 60 people one them. Check with whoever you book with before setting sail.

The breakfasts were of high quality food wise, but the variety was poor, it was always a smoothie, variety of breads, a pie of the day, yoghurt and then a choice of savoury or sweet dish. We only stayed for 7 days and yet the sweet dish was repeated during that time. The food is served by pleasant staff but they struggle if you want something that is not on the menu and the service is adequate. My preference would have been a self service option.

The bar and pool staff provided a much better service, The bar prices are more expensive than anywhere at 5 euros 50 per diet coke and 12 euros for a cocktail.

Overall I thought the hotel has one of the most beautiful views in the world and with some staff training, better information at reception, better facilities in the room would make this is an excellent hotel.

Room Tip: Check the room is not overlooked as a number are, ours was not.

My husband and I stayed from the 5th to the 12th June 12. Returning to a place where you've had sucha perfect stay before is always a bit of a risk, will it be as good as you remembered, will the staff have changed for the worse etc? But, as ever, the Grace exceeded our expectations and gave us another memorable, totally relaxing week setting the pitch perfectly for instant "chill!" It was so lovely to see Iphigenia, Ben and the culinary genius that is Spiros again. And the new additions to the team fit in perfectly, Manos has become the "conductor" of the bar in his own special way and Nikos leads the restaurant with humour and efficiency, mastering English irony as he does so.. not an easy task.
Spiros cooked us our "special" meal, sea bass in a salt bread crust, has to be tried!! We relied on Iphigenia as always for our recommended restaurants and fell in love with Anogi again plus discovered the joys of Selene in Pyrgos. Breakfast still the best we've ever had!
Our one critcism, we feel the construction of the villa has taken away valuable communal areas such as the second pool and the gym, a mistake!
But please do go and experience, as you begin that walk down the path to the caldera you can feel the weight lifting off your shoulders, relax and let them do what they do best, give you the holiday you've long anticipated and dreamt of...

Room Tip: We had the Caldera Suite, room 16, lovely suite with own sunbathing area and plunge pool although a...

We just came back from Grace Santorini today, stayed from 5th to 12th Jun '12.What an amazing view and best sunset ever.
We stayed in room 55, junior suite without a plunge pool, room with excellent view of caldera and best sunset ever. Room is spacious with large patio, very clean and can not fault the daily cleaning service. Patio is large enough to have double bed(sunbed) , table and chairs. Daily sunset at 8:30 pm from our patio is something not to be missed.
Food was very good too, start with champagne breakfast everyday .We had 3 meals a day for 5 days of our stay at hotel restaurant. The service at the restaurant was excellent . When we did not fancy what's on the menu, we requested what we wanted and chef did his best to satisfy our request. Service we received at the restaurant was second to none, staff are very attentive and polite, especialy Michael, Ben , Nikos ans Manos (barman) looked after us very well.
Manager Joseph and reception staff are very helpful too.
We would like to go back there again.

Room Tip: We had to climb 53 steps to get to the restaurant , 88 steps to the reception and 128 steps to the h...
