“Simply perfect...and amazing!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 May 2010

I stayed there with my wife and we had an amazing time.
The Hotel is beautiful, and brand new (we were told it was built one year ago), the location because outside of the two closest town and secluded. The view is breathtaking (all the pictures you see are correct) and the rooms are simply outstanding. The restaurant and its food is delightful and refined.
The staff is helpful, friendly and discreet, yet very efficient. there is no question, why someone would pay the price of this small luxury hotel. Everything and everyone is paying attention to guests satisfaction, and it was much appreciated.
We will come back for sure.
A & S. from France.

We were upgraded to San Antonio Suites by Hotel Sunrocks for our anniversary. It truly is a luxury hotel. SAS is located at the skinniest part of the island, between Firostefani and Oia. It's literally carved right through the rock, you'll see this as you enter the hotel and pass through reception to rooms and facilities. Because of this location, it's absolutely secluded, tucked right into a bay away from the rest of the coast. In front of the hotel is extremely windy because of the location, but the actual hotel itself is tucked into the bay so weather out back is perfect. You'll only experience this crazy wind when waiting for a bus or taxi out front. Views from rooms and poolside are exquisite. Complimentary bottle of local wine and fruit were a nice touch.

Our room, which I believe was their basic suite, was gigantic with a sitting room, king size bed, and terrace by the pool overlooking the view. Other, higher grade, suites had private balconies w/ sun chairs and some w/ private hot tubs. The infinity pool was amazing with very comfy lounge charis and sun umbrellas. Buffet breakfast was the best we had during our whole trip to Greece.

If you exit the hotel and walk about 50m along the road to the left, you'll find a great hiking path. This winds up above the hotel and around the cliffs. Some other hikers we ran into said the path goes all the way from Fira to Oia, but takes about 3 hours.

Our flight back to Athens wasn't until many hours after check out, so they allowed us to stay at the pool all day and reserve the spa area to clean up before heading to the airport. This was very convenient.

Our stay was amazing. However, I find the need to point out the few 'cons' as well.

While all food at the hotel was fantastic, especially the included breakfast, the rates were unbelievable. My husband ordered a 19Euro club sandwich our first afternoon there, the cheapest thing on the menu aside from the 12Euro side greek salad. I suppose most people booking this hotel can afford such an expensive lunch, but to those of us who were upgraded to the facility this 45Euro simple lunch was a big shock. Needless to say, we did not purchase any other meals at the hotel (and they prohibit outside food/drink). This proved to be a big challange since it is so secluded.

Onto my next con, this hotel is walking distance to NOTHING. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel, and the hotel can provide a bus schedule. Aside from the whipping winds, it's no problem to wait for the bus either into Fira or Oia from this spot (about 15 minutes either way). The problem arises, however, when you try to get off the bus at the hotel. Because of it's secluded spot, the bus does not automatically stop here. You have to let the driver know you'll be getting off there before the trip starts. If you happen to get on the bus at a busy time, such as after a famous Oia sunset, and it's so packed you can't get to the driver or sit anywhere near the front you're in trouble. On multiple occasions, we had the whole bus yelling at the driver to stop so we could get off. When he finally stopped, it was about 150m down the winding, cliff lined road. We said a prayer and trecked back. Needless to say, we paid the 10 Euro taxi fare to get home from Oia the next night.

Aside from the dificulty getting off at our stop when returning to the hotel, the bus system is inexpensive (1,40-2,10/ride) and a great way to get around Santorini. Just be prepared to notify the driver of your stop.

Well we got this Hotel as an special promotion from our Traveloffice. Read a lot of reviews. Hide out place, very relaxing atmosphere "Santorini Style", we dont think that you get something bettter on THIS island, looking for cave style hotel overviewing the the sea from above location. THIS is unique and JUST the best place. We were spending our honeymoon there 7 nights. It's a little outside the hot spot villages, but great located. We recommend to rent a quad-bike to travel between the villages. It's fun. and you can get close to the restaurants... i.e. 1800 in Oia (you must go there, reservation required). But anyhow the restaurant at the hotel serves delicious food as well ...

Like others we were initially at Sun Rocks hotel. For our last night in Santorini - they asked us if we wanted to upgrade to the San Antonio. We did and fell in love with the hotel/views. Before I go on with the positives - there were three negatives. When we made the transfer over from Sun Rocks - it took forever to get into our room - which kind of ruined our last day in Santorini. The location, although gorgeous, is not near anything. Finally - we did not have a shower. Now on to the good stuff - so quiet and absolutely stunning. The views were amazing. Service at the restaurant was alright but who is in a rush when you can sit and look at those views. Our room was huge and spacious - but the TV didn't work. Our room's outside jacuzzi was so awesome and the hotel's infinity pool - don't have the words to describe. Our trip to Santorini was perfect - at Sun Rocks for two nights and was able to walk around and be social and our last night was quiet - in the caldera at the San Antonio.

This may be one of the most beautiful hotels we've ever stayed at. It is brand new, so remarkably clean. The rooms are generous in size with remarkable views. The pool is amazing. Staff is incredibly helpful and friendly - even if a little slow on occasion, but this is Greece, so who really cares.

Simply put, it was 4 of the most relaxing nights we've ever spent somewhere - even if it did rain a couple of times.

Without a doubt, I would recommend this hotel to anyone. That being said, it may not be for everyone. It is secluded from the other towns and may be a 12 euro cab ride to Oia, but that's what's wonderful about it. You don't have to fight the crowds, you can still go to the towns if you like, and your view is out to the caldera, not at cruise ships. So, if you want to enjoy the nightlife, be around hundreds of other people, and be able to walk to all the restaurants, etc, then this is not for you. For relaxation and seclusion, this is the place.

Outside of laying by the pool, the only thing we did was go to Oia for dinner - both 1800 and Sunset Taverna in Amoudi are highly recommended - and go on a trip with Santorini Sailing - expensive, but you're not with a ton of other people and the food is amazing.

Definitely one of the great new hotels around.

I read and read and read and read reviews - but somehow missed this one. We got sent here for one night when its sister hotel (Carpe Diem) was overbooked for our first night. The hotel is hands down, just, perfectly beautiful. It sits on this perfect cliff and has these wonderfully perfect rooms and is clean and new and fresh and mmm... just nice. We got a honeymoon suite and wished we never had to leave.

As with many posh, stuck-up places - especially new and boutique ones - the staff become a bit cranky and snooty. We ran into a bit of that, and its our only gripe - otherwise its perfect. It is not in a town, but its a 10 minute drive from Oia - so if you are planning on having a car, bike or moped - have no fears.

The room and the hotel and the view are just perfect.

Our breath is taken away when we arrive at the unbelivably Beautiful San Antonio Suites.

The location, the solitude, and so much much more.

Our Suite was Heaven the Pool was sensational and the Staff went aboveand beyond their duty of care.

We were treated like Royalty and had the most marvelous week staying at this sensational property.

Our Thanks to the Gorgeous Chrysa / Maria and staff for a very memorable stay.

We have spoken with and referred All to your magnificent property, and we miss you.

We have both travelled to many destinations all over the world but the charm of this property has truly won our hearts.

In fact this must be one of the Top ten must see properties in the world.

Do yourself a favour and spoil yourself by staying at the San Antonio Suites and be pampered by a stunning location / 10 star accommodation and truly hosptable gracious staff.

Cannot wait to return
