“Total Luxury without KIDS! A totally unique experience.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 September 2012

Stayed June 2011 , for 4 Nights . We were with large group and landed here after Mykonos. This was the best Hotel we had stayed at in Greece. Not for total luxury but just total bliss , views and intamicy. The Hotel is basically set into the side of a Mountain the views are simply the best I have ever seen. The rooms are basically cut out cave like rooms but with all the luxuries, Ipod ,Plasma , Spa Bath , Walkin robe etc. All have private balcony. There is no restuarant at this hotel so Breakfast was brought to your room and ate on your balcony over looking the views.
Neer by there isnt much but we hired Quad bike from outside for only 16 euros a day and me and my wife explored Santorini by Quad. A break form the Kids it was simply magic. I would love to return one day. Santorini is a great a fantastic greek isle. Great shopping and beaches.

We especially loved the infinity pool at this Hotel.

Stayed here with my husband on our honeymoon. We deliberated about splurging on the Chromata quite a bit, given the priceyness of the hotel. In the end, I think it was a good, solid hotel--and I have no real complaints. The view is magnificent, the fact that it has a pool is great (lots of Santorini hotels we looked into didn't), the menu is fairly good and very reasonably priced (lunch was great, breakfast so-so). But, given the price (about $600 USD/night), I was expecting more. The service was good (nothing to write home about), the pool was fairly small and you can't use it after sun down, and the rooms are fairly straightforward--not nearly as impressive as one would expect. That said, after spending time in Fira and Oia, I think that the Chromata is probably on the nicer end of hotels in Santorini, and Santorini in general is fairly pricey. But when deliberating extensively over whether to pick this hotel or another slightly cheaper hotel, I would have loved to know to not get swept away in the glamour of the online photos. It's a good hotel, but maybe not worth the price.

Room Tip: Make sure to ask for a room that ISN'T adjacent to the pool (you'll share a wall with the po...

Just book, don't think!! You will have a fantastic, romantic time staying here. The views are unmatched. The rooms are brand new with modern designs and a lot of space. You cannot find a hotel like this anywhere else. The rooms are tucked within the cliff which provide total privacy. It is paradise found.

Staff was great. View was...unbelievably amazing. I had to pinch myself every time I walked out to our balcony. I couldn't believe I was so lucky to even being able see what I was seeing. Wow. Still in awe of that view. We had dinner on our balcony the first evening and it was delicious and the breakfast (that was included in our stay) was plentiful and prepared perfectly. First class all around!

Room Tip: You can not go wrong with this hotel. We were in room 6 and we like that no one could really look...

My wife and I stayed at Chromata from July30-Aug3 2012. The hotel is top notch. True five-star experience from the service down to the food. It is very well staffed and at no point did I ever find myself waiting for assistance with anything. A la carte breakfasts are served on your balcony (or inside your room). Every morning, we called the kitchen, put our orders in and the food was brought to our room within 10-15 minutes. Over the course of 4 days there we tried just about everything on the breakfast menu and everything we had was great.

We laid out at the pool for a few hrs every day and it was never once crowded despite the hotel being full. There were always had nice loungers available for us. There is an additional area with sunbeds/lounge chairs and a hot tub but we did not utilize it. Looked nice. There is also a communal balcony with two large sofa beds that guests can utilize. The main pool area has a full service bar from which you can order food/drinks. Throughout the hotel, at no point did the service feel forced but it was always prompt.

Location- Chromata is located kind of between Firostefani and Imerovigli (closer to Imerovigli). We were considering staying in Oia or Imerovigli and in the end we're glad we stayed in Imerovigli, main reason being... We rented an ATV for 3 of the 4 days and the central location of Imerovigli afforded us the ability to easily get pretty much anywhere on the island in a reasonable drive on the four wheeler. The first day, we visited Oia. It was nice (a quainter, more tasteful version of Fira, but still much more crowded than Imerovigli. Had we stayed in Oia, we would have had much longer drives to the villages we visited on the south end of the island, as the drive from Imerovigli to Oia is probably 15 minutes or so.

My best advice for Santorini is to rent the ATV. It allowed is to explore and see almost all of the island. There are some really cool towns on the southern end of the island that are worth seeing (Megalochori, Exo Gonia, Pyrgos, Kamari, Perivolos). As i mentioned, had we stayed in Oia, it would have been a bit of a stretch to get around the way we did. Most of the unique crafts and art can be found off the beaten path and around the smaller, towns on the non-caldera side.

Chromata's location was close enough to Firostefani where we could take a 10 minute walk to the handful of great restaurants in Firostefani, and a 5-10 minute walk north put us in Imerovigli. The view of the caldera from the hotel is great, as others have said, but there is really no bad view anywhere on the caldera side of the island. We saw sunsets from Oia, Imerovigli, Fira, and Megalochori and they were all spectacular with different foregrounds. Our favorite sunset was from a gravel spot off the roadside just north of Megalochori.

All of the restaurant recommendations the chromata concierges recommended were spot on.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 19 for two nights, and in room 5 for two nights. Room 19 is very private, as it...

I can say that I've been lucky enough to get a room in such a fantastic place at an affordable price thanks to Tripadvisor and Booking.com. In fact it wouldn't have been possible for me to get a room at the regular august price of something like 2000 euro per night. With Booking.com I paid 1600 euro for 4 nights: and this is really paradise! From the relaxing atmosphere to the fast wifi connection, the astonishing view, the modern white rooms, the large bathroom, the restaurant tables around the swimming pool, the food, the kindness of everybody working here .... what else? Questo è un paradiso davvero!

Room Tip: room n.1 is the highest, next to the top entrance: not too many steps!

My husband and I stayed in Chromata Hotel in May this year. It was our first time in Santorini and this started our holiday off in style - First Class hotel. From the moment we were greeted and shown to our amazing room we were in heaven. All the staff were incredible, it felt as though we were just with friends. Amazing attention to detail and superb, friendly service. The cocktails were the best that I have had in a long time and the view was breath taking. The food and presentation was first class and we loved every moment that we stayed in this hotel. Special mention to George who looked after us from day one and really made our holiday. George was great and looking forward to coming back soon for a long weekend. Thank you all for a great time. Laura & Simon
