We’ve just spent 4 nights at the Astra Suites and have been absolutely delighted with our choice of hotel for our stay in Santorini. The views from our Senior Suite at the Astra was magnificent and the sunset view especially...pure magic! The hotel’s staffs are to be commended and we have nothing but praise for the level of service we experienced. The staff went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and really made us feel welcomed and well looked after. Breakfast (served to the room daily) was delicious and plentiful and included a choice of hot breakfast dishes along with all the more standard continental breakfast type options. While not located in the capital of Santorini (Fira) or the more popular Oia, we found the Astra’s location in Imerovigli to be excellent and much more relaxed as we didn’t have the crowds of visitors coming off cruise ships that stop off for the day in Fira and Oia. Fira is well within walking distance, if you felt the inclination to get there. In any case, the cliff-side walk between Fira and Imerovigli is something of “a must” as the views along this walk are truly amazing. We really have no negatives with regards to the Astra Suites. The service was great, the room was very comfortable, the pool and pool bar perfect for lazing away a few hours and the course, the views breathtaking. The only cautionary note, and this would apply not only to the Astra Suites but to many of the hotels along the cliffs of Santorini - is that if you do had trouble walking or are carrying significant knee injuries, you might just want to enquire with the hotel prior to booking as to how many steps (or sets of steps!) you’ll need to navigate to get to your room! If this cautionary note applies to you, depending on the location and lay out of your hotel, actually getting to your room could pose something of a challenge. If this is not a concern to you, highly recommend the Astra Suites if your “must have” list includes… wonderful boutique hotel for couples, great service, wonderful views and a truly enjoyable stay.

We've just returned from our fourth visit to this amazing hotel. George and his staff were as friendly and hospitable as ever, seeing to every need and ensuring that our stay was relaxing. Unfortunately, we only had four nights on Santoini this year but, as before, we were not disappointed. With Santorini becoming more and more popular, Astra remains a calm haven from the bustle around. The views from the balconies of our room had to be amongst the best on the island. Perched on the cliff edge at the highest point on the Caldera, with Thira on the left, Oia on the right, and the volcano right in front, what more could you ask for! People scramble to Oia for the sunset, but we know it is much better from the balconies of Astra, with Oia and the sail boats in the foreground, chilled wine in hand, and the sun setting in the channel between Oia and Therasia. A fantastic way to begin or end a Greek island holiday!

Room Tip: The bedroom balcony of Senior Suite room 106 is fantastic, overlooking the pool, and clear views in...

We had the most relaxing, and amazing time. There for 4 days, but wish it was longer. George and the rest of the staff are the example of fine hospitality service. Our breakfast on our porch each morning overlooking the caldera was perfection. We loved the pool so much on our first morning that we just stayed there all day and skipped the other sights. It was that nice.

Room Tip: All rooms are great, but all are different sizes, so just state your preference. There is no spa or...

Stayed here for 4 nights after a busy stay in Italy. The island and setting are idyllic. The staff were all wonderful, from the mountain goat-like guys who carry the bags and breakfast trays up and down the stairs, to the front desk staff, to George. My bag got lost by the airline and they took it upon themselves to take care of doing all the leg work to make the necessary phone calls to track it, kept me informed of the progress, and sent their own car to get it instead of waiting for the airline to deliver it.
The place is small enough where they seem to know every guest, and treat you like family. They understand that you're on vacation, and try to make everything hassle-free.
The pool is a bit small, but there was always a place to sit.
The rooms were a bit spartan, and the lighting could have been better, but we spent very little time in the room. Beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was clean and the water pressure was good.

We stayed at Astra Suites for 6 nights for our honeymoon, I can not rate this hotel highly enough. The location is brilliant with amazing views over the Caldera, you can walk to Fira and if you are really keen to Oia. We stayed in a junior suite which was clean and comfortable. We loved having our breakfast on our balcony every morning while still in your dressing robe overlooking the gorgeous view.

The staff really make this hotel, they are so helpful and welcoming and really make you feel special for your stay. They made our honeymoon so memorable offering wine, fruit and roses in our room on arrival, the second day they brought a bottle of bubbles and chocolates to our room to watch the sunset, they even made me special ginger drinks to help with pregnancy nausea!

The hardest part of this trip was having to leave! I would love to come back one day and would highly recommend the Astra Suites for a relaxing getaway. Thanks so much to George and his team for a wonderful stay.

We stayed at the Astra on our honeymoon, and it was the most beautiful, serene place I have ever been to in my life. Another review mentioned how great the staff was, and my first thought was, "there was staff?" breakfast arrived on our balcony ever morning, our room was always clean, but it seemed like it all happened without ever seeing an employee. In my mind, this place cannot be beat!

I saw the glowing reviews and awards for Astra before booking, and so had very high expectations for our time with them. In short, we were not disappointed. The hotel itself is amazing (better than the pictures for once!), but I think it is the service that really makes Astra special and sets it apart. From the moment we stepped foot in the hotel, we felt that the staff was truly intent on making sure our stay in Santorini was special. On arrival, George and Valentina gave us a personalized island orientation, explained our options for activities, and made all arrangements for us. Even when we weren't in the hotel, they served as our safety net in a few situations (sending taxis for us at difficult spots to get picked up). With everyone on the staff, we noticed a positive attitude that any wish we had would be fulfilled. When we returned back to the room too late for dessert to be served in our room, they sent us some of the desserts the staff was testing to satisfy our sweet tooths.
As we had a late departure, they offered immediately to allow us to stay in our room until nearly 5 pm. If our room had been booked, they still have a hospitality suite with showers, etc at our disposal. They really don't miss any details to make you feel comfortable and valued as a guest.
On to the food - the kitchen and chef is truly exceptional. Everything we ate at the hotel, from our daily breakfast served on our balcony, to sandwiches and salads from room service, to our fantastic dinner in the restaraunt was amazing. All special orders are accommodated without question (I wrote in a special egg white omelette for my breakfast and it was made perfectly to order and was delicious). If you stay here, take advantage of this wonderful asset at the hotel. We actually wished we ate at the hotel more than we did. I loved their Mediterranean sandwich so much, I asked that they prepare another one to take on the ferry.
Another detail we found to be very nice was that the mini-bar items were actually very reasonably priced, as opposed to most luxury hotels that gouge you for every item. Again, everything is set up to make you feel comfortable - you don't need to think twice about grabbing something from the mini-bar if you are hungry or thirsty.
Lastly, the room. We stayed in one of the pool suites, which was very generously sized and of course had a breath-taking view. The room was beautifully decorated with local art (it was fun to walk around Fira and Oia and see the same art from your room in the nicer galleries on the island). We had an amazing perch on a double lounger for watching the sunset. As it does get cool at night in Santorini, there were blankets available in the room, and we used them each night to watch the moon light up the sea.
Needless to say, we were quite sad to leave, and have every intention of coming back again. We couldn't have had a more enjoyable and memorable stay!
