“Fantastic stay at the Senses”
Reviewed 13 July 2014 via mobile

We stayed here for 3 nights on a Groupon deal having spent the previous 3 nights in Kamari.

We found the hotel to be superbly designed and decorated. Located on the caldera, you can reach the livelier areas of Firostefani (5 minutes walk) and Fira (20 minutes walk) via the traditional path.

Our balcony had breathtaking views which really have to be seen to be believed!

Yannis was very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed and even hung around to make sure we got our transfer to the airport on the night we left.

I would say this is a bit more like a villa stay than a hotel as such. Breakfast was supplied by way of us providing a daily list of requests (tick box form) and delivered at our chosen time.

We used the pool facilities at the nearby Andromeda Hotel which also had fantastic views and lovely pools.

Travelled to Fira and Oia easily enough by bus although sunset views from Imerovigli and Firostefani are also superb and much less crowded as they are off the beaten path.

Very impressed and would definitely recommend staying here to anyone wanting to visit Imerovigli!

We visited Senses for a week from 10-17 June. Apart from the mix up with transfer from airport our stay at Senses was wonderful. We booked the Green Room but were upgraded to the Queen Suite which is a newish addition to the small Boutique Hotel. The suite is beautiful with twin showered luxurious bathroom, beautiful large bedroom with sumptuous bedding and pillows and tv (although never used it) lounge area with tv and drinks/fridge cupboard then own private jacuzzi and seating area ....
As previously reported Yannis is the perfect host, he supplied a mobile phone, recommended restaurants, booked our trips and always there if needed but never intrusive. The room was cleaned thoroughly each day to a very high standard and lovely treats left for us.... Turkish delights, chocolates, sweets.... This was a lovely touch! As stated breakfast is chosen and brought to your room which we found relaxing but got a bit repetitive, we certainly missed a hot option and are used to omelette or fresh eggs, but this is really being very picky. This hotel is well run and organised and in a very good location, in response to recent review below our outside seating area had beautiful views of the caldera and we didn't expect sunset views of Oia as had done our homework before arriving. Thank you Senses for all that you do.

Please note, most taxi drivers won't be familiar with Senses, and the website / booking confirmations only say "Imerovigli" for the address, so we actually said "near Chromata" (another hotel) which was more recognised.
Our room (Green room) was over booked - Yannis made alternative arrangements (1st night elsewhere then returned to Senses) but he didn't actually ever apologise for this.. Just explained that is difficult to keep track of online bookings when you're listed on multiple aggregator websites. In the end it wasn't a bad thing, as we were upgraded but it would have been nice to get an apology, as it was a bit inconvenient to stay in 2 different places during our short stay.
We were placed in the nearby Andromeda Villa hotel for our first night, which had an incredible view of the sunset over Oia (so the overbooking worked in our favour) then we returned to Senses for the next 2 nights, being upgraded to their new King Suite. It's a great room - very spacious with a view of the Caldera (but not of sunset). However, please note that although the dipping pool is private in the sense that it's only yours to use, it's situated right next to the main walkway between Fira and Oia so you get so many passers by and therefore is quite public (not really a good spot for a romantic moment).
I liked Yannis's idea to give us a basic mobile phone during our stay. Really handy for calling taxis. It's a nice touch.
Breakfast is delivered to your room each morning, so you make your choices the day before - and there a wide range of options. We missed having hot options but as there is no central communal / dining area in the small hotel, I understand that it's not possible to offer.
The room itself was very large and we loved the decor. We also loved the double shower - each side with handheld shower and overhead rain shower, with high pressure. Great for couples.
The room had its own WiFi router, so the was good signal throughout the suite Which is rare in Imerovigli hotels as most rooms are built into the Caldera earth so it's like being underground.
You can tell the hotel has been well thought through and its a lovely place to stay, but the overall service could be improved slightly. I think the Queen Suite might be the best option as its terrace and pool would really be private but I'm not sure if it has a good a view of the Caldera.

I know I will only repeat all the positive reviews here but they deserve the credit and my positive review. I always believe the people is one of the main factor that can make hotel stay an enjoyable experience. Yannis and staff were just great. They were not over the top but they were always courteous. They value customer privacy but at the same time they are responsive to their need. I really wish them well in running their business.

The hotel itself is great. Great value for the money and the location is perfect. I think Imerovigli is the perfect place to stay in Santorini, it is close to Fira but much more quiet. There are nice restaurant and groceries store nearby. We got an upgrade to one of the new room with private jacuzzi. It has also a private balcony with fantastic view of the volcano.

I don't think I repeat what the other reviewers' comment so I will just say that I'd recommend this place in a heartbeat.

We booked the blue room initially but was upgraded to the purple room which is really so sweet and beautiful. A good view of the caldera sea view. The whole room was decorated and painted in purple, a romantic kind of feel. Having to read many good reviews of Yannis, i finally met him and its really what the reviews are saying. Yannis is very helpful and friendly, always smiling and offered to help us in any other way that he could. He even gave us his mobile number and a phone for spare use if we need help. Location was excellent, in the heart of Imerovigli. Bus stop was within walking distance, travelling to fira town or oia is very convenient or if you love walking, you will need 20-30 mins walk to fira town. There are shops, restaurants and mini marts around the area too. All in all, thumbs up for senses boutique hotel and Yannis who managed it so well. I will definitely stay at Senses again the next time i visit Santorini. Cheers!

Ditto to the other recent reviews. Yiannis is very friendly and really cares about making your stay the best possible. It give such a personal touch to the holiday which you could not get in larger establishments. Telling us the best restaurants to eat in on the map. He was always smiling and laughing especially at my Greek with a welsh accent! The location of this hotel could not be better. Right on the cliff with fantastic views of the bay (Caldera). We had the blue room but next time we might try the green room with its heated Jacuzzi!

Room Tip: well ask for the green room with the Jacuzzi!

Ditto to all of the other positive reviews. We got a very good deal through Orbitz. Due to airline cancellations, we ended up arriving a full day late for our reservation. When we did get there, we were upgraded to the yellow room, and Yannis, the owner, brought us breakfast promptly. He was a very useful resource throughout the trip (gave us a map and suggestions on where to go, arranged for transport to the port for us, etc), and even gave us a cell phone to call him if we needed anything. Our room included lots of goodies (games, chocolates, turkish delights, cereals). Breakfast was fresh and brought to our door every morning made to order (bread, cheese, spanakopitas, fresh milk etc.). Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay. On a side note, we really enjoyed going to Santorini in April, before the crowds. Weather was a bit on the cooler side but perfect for hiking, sightseeing.

Room Tip: We loved staying in the yellow room. Only downside was the bathroom is a little small. The balcony...
