“You will not find better in Santorini”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2013

This hotel, was absolutely brilliant, the view from this hotel is unbeatable, the pool area is something unseen at the other hotels and the service is not just brilliant, it's warm, real and honest.

We had an absolutely brilliant room, room 2, jacuzzi was prepared and snacks and drinks ready when we were checked in.

The breakfast was fantastic and the staff was absolutely wonderful, George at the bar, the reception staff, wish I could remember there names, and Electra at the restaurant are a real asset to this business, although not nearly as luxurious as Rocabella Mykonos, this hotel is so much better, because the people are real, friendly and passionate, they don't just provide service because you are paying, you really feel that they are great people who aim to just please no matter what the circumstance.

Breakfast and restaurant was great, we had the greatest meals all served at the room ,in the jacuzzi.

The only complaint I have, and I hope they can notice this is that the sheets used on the beds, are really cheap and uncomfortable, for a hotel of this standard, they really need to invest in luxury bedding especially in the luxury suites that we stayed in.

A shower in the room would have been nice, and a set heating unit would be great.

We will definitely be back, and if you are visiting Santorini do not stay anywhere else, this is the absolute best hotel.

Room Tip: Room 102 is absolutely great, the one next to us 101 is just as good, they have the best location, a...

This hotel offers 100% peace and relaxation. Perfect for honeymoons or romantic breaks. The views of Ioa in the sunset are breathtaking. Room sizes are generous, choice of pools varied and stunning with the view, breakfast - excellent selection (not quite as good as at the Grace with champagne however) and staff/service are wonderful especially George the barman whose ability to make a good cocktail was exemplary, his waitress who kindly gave me her mother's moussaka recipe and Anna at breakfast who always looked after us terribly well. We were upgraded to a large room with an indoor and outdoor jacuzzi. The coastal path from Fira to Oia is the only thing separating the hotel from the cliff face. We did walk one hour in one direction to Fira on the path and two hours (at dawn before the heat) in the other direction to reach Oia. Take good walking boots/shoes/trainers if you do this. In many ways this location is the perfect place to be on the island between these 2 places, but not if you stay for more than a few days due to restaurants not being on your doorstep (need to hire a car/book a taxi or use the bus - we never really found the bus stop, frequent but not terribly easy - sometimes drivers stop at Rocabella if you ask them to, other times they forget - buses can get v busy). The menu in the restaurant doesn't seem to change so after a couple of dinners there (despite the high quality of food) we were bored of the restaurant food (never the view). This is the reason I have awarded 4 stars, as I couldn't spend a week here due to lack of ease getting to other places to eat. The gym is fine but doesn't take advantage of the view. Definitely stay here if you can for the view, but have a car the whole time or don't stay for too long. Finally be aware that at this time of year the wind howls thru wind tunnels between the detached rooms at night. It truly can keep you awake, but this is a Greek island - so could happen anywhere.

Room Tip: Definitely worth paying for a view if you stay here. A few rooms seemed to be on the side with what...

Stayed seven days at this hotel left today. It is located on the top of the Caldera in Imerovigli a short walk from the village of Imerovigli, 10 mins drive from Fira and 15 mins drive from OIa. Location was perfect as very private, and not on top of other hotels like those in OIa and Imerovigli. Ideally you need a car but taxi to Fira were €10 and OIa €15.

Rooms: we stayed in no 20. room itself was small and functional, but clean and had everything we needed. Not luxurious but we spent such little time in the room except in the evening to have glass of wine on the balcony. Lovely balcony with great view of the Caldera. there was limited wardrobe hanging space as hanging rail.

Food: Breakfast was fab. Buffet with great selection of pastries, fruit, yoghurt, hot breakfast. Service was great and nothing was a problem. Restaurant had great location with amazing views of the Caldera and we really enjoyed it every morning. Only had dinner on the first night as we wanted to try different restaurants but it was really nice and reasonable price. We had lunch a few times served around the pool area. Lots of choice and very nice.

Drinks: Bar staff are great. Enjoyed the cocktails, expensive at €12 but very generous measures of alcohol. Enjoyed many drinks through the day and on return to hotel after dinner

Swimming pools: This is one of the main reasons I booked this hotel. Most hotels have small pools and small pool areas just for cooling off in not to swim length or get decent exercise. Rocabella had 4 pools, the main one was great perfect for swimming lengths, with fab view and pool bar. We spent most of our time here during the days we didn't go out. George was fab and regularly brought iced water. There could have been more sun beds as some days there weren't enough for everyone at the main pool but this was mainly as people used to disappear and leave their towels on the beds to prevent others from taking them. Really rude and irritating. Didn't really use the other pools as they were smaller but also all had great views over the caldera and good pool side area.

Rocabella also advertised a tennis court but it really was a concreted area with a net. No line markings and not the right size but we played a few rallies

Imerovigli: there is an amazing walk to the village along the cliff path. The views are out of this world. Along the way you can see many of the other hotels which are all on top of each other and lack privacy. A few nights we stopped off for predinner drink in an outside bar on the way to watch the sunset and it was so romantic and special. We had dinner two nights in a restaurant on the top with an amazing view and lovely food - called the Blue Note restaurant. Village doesn't have much else, no shopping a couple of supermarkets, pharmacy etc.

OIa: was an amazing place. Full of cobbled streets, little shops and restaurants. OIa is all about the views and the sunset. Had dinner there twice once in the Red Bicycle - not great, fish uncooked and had to send it back, and another night in Pervoilas - great food and service. Another night we went to Amoudi Bay right down by the harbour. Had dinner at Katina which is all about freshly cooked fish. Really lovely but got quite windy.
We took the cliff path walk to OIa which was worth it but hard work and took 90 mins. Do it early morning or after 6pm in evening as tough hike in midday heat and not for faint hearted

Fira:
Went to Fira one night. Very different vibe to OIa. Capital city with lots of bars and restaurants and crowded. Wouldn't have wanted to stay here.

Overall Santorini is amazing, OIa is beautiful but the Rocabella given its privacy, views, location in Imerovigli, swimming pools, food and staff was perfect for us. Nothing was a problem whether booking taxis, restaurants, etc We would definitely go back. Better if you have a car to explore island otherwise it's taxis. One last tip it's definitely not the place to go in high heels. Couldn't wear any of my 10 pairs of sandals as everywhere is cobble stone and uneven surfaces

Room Tip: Rooms with sea view definitely worth it

This place was exactly what you want it to be! Beautiful views, beautiful pools, and a beautiful, Greek look! We showed up and were pleasantly surprised that our room had been upgraded since we were on our honeymoon. It was beautiful and had an awesome view of the sea! We really could have spent every minute of our trip at this hotel, but we decided to take the bus into town once a day. We spent the rest of our trip lounging by any of the four pools or in our private Jacuzzi. Also, the food at the restaurant was so amazing that we ate at least one meal there a day!

The only two downsides about this place were that the spa left much to be desired. We left it feeling oily and unsatisfied. Also, at night it can get very windy so pack some earplugs! Nothing that can't be lived with but just know that you are on the top of a mountain in the middle of the sea. Windy at night but absolutely beautiful during the day and at sunset! Every single member of the staff was overly friendly and helpful and just amazing in every way possible! I would definitely stay there again!

This resort is about a 5-10 minute walk from the Imerovigli village. You can walk to Fira in about 30 minutes or so, and Oia - I would recommend taking the bus.

There are not many restaurants within the vicinity of this area, but the resort itself is just beautiful. The view of the sea is gorgeous, and in my opinion, the sunset from here is better than the overrated Sunset in Oia. Their restaurant is also not bad, and their breakfast features different greek foods everyday.

Upon check-in you are given much detailed information about the resort, the location, and the island itself. You're given a welcome drink while your luggage is being taken to your room for you. We also received a complimentary bottle of wine, which we enjoyed the first night while watching the sunset.

We spent some time by their infinity pool, and their service is wonderful. Someone came by to check on us, brought us towels and water, chatted with us and took pictures for us.

There really wasn't anything this hotel was not willing to assist you with. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and family, and would always consider when I come back to Santorini.

After staying at rocabella Mykonos, totally amazing! We could not wait to stay at rocabella santorini and it did not disappoint! INCREDIBLE! Upon arrival one of their friendly reception team sit you down and run through all the amazing this to do in santorini, you meet Sophie who hands you a glass of champagne with a big smile! They then take you on a guided tour to showcase their unbelievable hotel and all that is has to offer. With 4 pools, restaurant, bar and the most beautiful view. The hotel sits on top of a high cliff and you can sit and watch the most gorgeous sunset every night!

The rooms! I suggest the windmill suite as it is 2 stories and a beautiful bedroom plus an outdoor heated jacuzzi, which they also have heated and ready to go for you! the heated jacuzzi is the best spot to watch the sunset from.

The food. WOW! We ate at the hotel for every meal! As they use local produce and their menu selection is better then eating anywhere else.

The bar team! You must go meet George and George junior! Kings of the jungle! Tell them Peter and tennielle say hi! Top guys that you will become great friends with!

Breakfast! The girls that look after you at breakfast time are so sweet! Electra is warm and wonderful, nothing is ever to much!

Rocabella is #1! Both Mykonos and santorini! We will be back every year!

Room Tip: Windmill suite or any with a sea view room

Stayed here for 6 nights early July. Slick, warm professional service from first correspondence until check-out. The hotels' web-site photographs are accurate. All-white, soft (no sharp edges anywhere) decor and buildings ensure a peaceful relaxing stay. Rooms are compact with spacious showers, and very little storage space: one bare rail and a small 2-shelf cupboard forced us to stack our clothing on top of our suitcases...I know they pride themselves on the 'minimal' aspect, but another shelf or two would've been helpful. The staff here are what sets this hotel apart from a lot of other hotels we've stayed in; to repeat another TA reviewer - they WANT you to have a good time. Anna, Elektra in the dining room and the barstaff were outstanding. Anna and Elektra always asked about our plans and had wonderful suggestions of things to do and beaches to go to. I must also say that the food was superb; the first night we had slow-cooked lamb-shanks (best I've ever had). Breakfasts were fabulously fresh with loads of delightful local specialities. Arris the chef and his team are to be commended on the quality of their world-class skills. We ate there every night but one, and even then we reluctantly dragged ourselves into Fira (we felt Fira at least deserved that, lol). Had a good meal at Argo, but nothing to compare with Rocabella. We had a serious laundry problem (they shrank my husband's expensive new shirts), but the manager was most apologetic, and immediately compensated us for them. Not only that, but the next day,in our room we found 3 similar new shirts the manager had personally chosen, so that my husband had something to wear! Very impressive. We rented a car to get around, which I would suggest. It was great to retreat here after a hot day filled with cruise-shippers in narrow village streets climbing and shuffling. Which also make this place great - I felt sorry for the porters and tourist forced to abuse their poor wheelie bags on the cobbled climbs...none of that here. If you're coming to Santorini...come here...you won't be sorry!

Room Tip: Caldera view are great
