“Amazing honeymoon - perfect place to stay!”
Reviewed 2 August 2011

We stayed in Artemis Villas in Santorini for 4 days in July after getting married in Rhodes the previous week. We were picked up by a private transfer and when we arrived at the Villas the owner Chris was there to welcome us.

Artemis villas is relatively small with about 10 villas and pool with sun deck, most villas (if not all Im not sure) have a jacuzzi on deck which was amazing to watch the sunset from. Chris welcomed us and showed us around and offered us a complimentary drink. There were always complimentary drinks or snacks around the time of sunset which was really nice to have and everytime we went to the pool we got free ice cold water brought up to us.

Our rooms were cleaned out everyday and everything put away neatly which was a real treat coming home to with differnt towel designs and flower petals on our bed - made it really special.

We went around the island on one of the days and visited Oia but as a honeymoon couple where we were situated was just so perfect we really didnt need to move!

There was also a lovely restaurant - so reasonable just behind the villas which we ended up going to 3 times the food was so good and service so lovely!

Overall I think the Artemis Villas was much better than we could expect and no photos do the sunset or the views justice - breathtaking!!

My husband and I booked the Superior Studio with Jacuzzi for four nights and loved every second of it. After checking in to our room, we were greeted with some snacks and white wine. While we had planned on exploring the island for the day the weather, view and wine kept us sitting and reading on our deck all day. The view is simply amazing.

The room was very clean and we slept well – the bed wasn’t the most comfortable I’ve ever had, but it sufficed. Breakfast was great. We loved being served each morning on our balcony – the view never gets old! We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful when we needed help with directions or car rental.

I would highly recommend staying in Imerovigli. We found Fira to be too crowded and full of cruisers. Oia is a nice place as well (hike from Imerovigli to Oia one day!), but we liked the central location of Imerovigli the best.

We have been travelling around the world for the better part of forty years and without
question Santorini is one of the most beautiful places we have ever visited. There are two main towns in which to stay- Oia and Imerovigli. We chose Imerovigli which is the quieter of the two. Artemis villas is situated on the top of the Caldera-(extinct volcano) which offers amazing views of the bay below , the rest of the island and the neighboring island of
Thirassia. The villas are top notch with respect to location, price, accomodation and service. The resort comprised of ten rooms is run by a local- "Angela" and her Australian
born husband Chris. The two could not be more accomodating and hospitable. When we arrived we were met with a large plate of fresh fruit . The room was immaculately clean,
and offers the modern conveniences of satellite tv and dvd. Each room has a terrace
and there is a small pool available for use at the top of the resort. Service was provided by
Gazi, Eddie and Juliette who couldnt have been nicer and more helpful. Also important to consider was that the price was considerably less than resorts literally several feet away offering the same services. We will definitely be going back.

My wife and I stayed at Artemis on our honeymoon in June. We had been offered a larger room with a small balcony or a smaller room with a large balcony - we picked the latter and were very happy with our choice.
Yes, the room was a little on the small size if you are used to large hotel rooms, but the bed was a good quality and size and very comfortable and although a bit short on storage space the room had everything we needed.
The balcony was fabulous! Lots of space, a table with 4 chairs and a parasol and a large hot tub. I don't think we could have picked a better view - our balcony looked right out over the Caldera and we could sit there just looking out over the sea and the Sun.
At night the sunsets were amazing. You can see the Sun set right down over the horizon without having to leave your balcony and the wonderful change of colours that fill the sky resulted in some great photographs.
There is a pool deck right at the top of Artemis for guests only (your key fob unlocks the gate). The pool is too small for swimming but nice to dip into if you want a break from the heat and there are around 15-20 very nice sunbeds up there and even more amazing views. There are only about 8 studios at Artemis so plenty of sunbeds and I don't think we ever saw it more than half full up there.
It would be very remiss to review Artemis without mentioning the amazing level of service from Chris, Angela and the staff. On our first day they gave us a complimentary breakfast and on our last day we were given another complimentary breakfast (far too much lovely food to finish) with a bottle of bubbly!
Throughout the week, someone would appear at our balcony at random with free cocktails or cakes and all were delicious!
The maid was lovely and we would often return to our room to find our towels on the bed surrounded by petals or made into animal creations (see photo)!
On our last day, we checked out at noon but, due to the Greek strikes, our flight wasn't until midnight. Angela gave us the key to another studio that wasn't occupied and told us to use it as our own until we left at 9:30pm and she wouldn't accept anything for it. This made our last day a much better experience than the norm where you usually end up simply dumping your cases and wasting part of your day.
If you have trouble with walking up and down steps Artemis will not be for you - nor will many of the other properties in Imerovigli - they are almost all perched on the hillside - great for views but plenty of up and down from the roadside to your room!
Local restaurants and tavernas are a gentle 5 minute walk away. You can also walk to Thira in about 25 minutes, it's a nice walk with lots of coastal views and photo opportunities - takes a little longer walking back as it's mostly uphill but don't let that put you off, we did it most days or evenings at some point and you can always break up the walk by stopping for a drink at one of the many tavernas en route.
We are so glad we chose Artemis for our honeymoon. We will definitely be back and are happy to recommend both the location and the wonderful service.

Room Tip: All rooms have good views but the ones higher up the hillside were better (although possibly more ex...

My wife and I stayed at Artemis villas this past June and know we'll definitely return. There are so many little towns in Santorini, it's hard to tell where you really want to stay on the island. First, definitely stay on the western side for amazing sunsets. If you don't plan to explore the island, Oia is probably a great pick. It's a nice little town with a lot of restaurants and shopping. However, if you plan to explore Ancient Thera, the red sand beach and the black sand beaches, you probably want to stay somewhere more central. When we were looking at hotels we were a little hesitant to pick Imerovigli because I couldn't tell how much of our view would be blocked by Skaros rock. After being all over the island, we wouldn't stay anywhere but Imerovigli. During all hours of the day and night it is extremely quite since there are very few roads that go through it and no big attractions other than Skaros rock to bring tourists staying in other towns to it.

When we finally narrowed our Santorini stay down to Imerovigli, we were looking for a small hotel with a pool and romantic room. Artemis villas has a small pool, and sun deck which is perfect for the 8(?) rooms it has. Our room also had it's own Jacuzzi which probably wasn't necessary considering how hot it was some days, but it was nice to use a few times. Our room had two rooms, the bedroom and then a kitchen with a electric burner, sink, and small fridge. We only used the fridge as it would have been hard to do much cooking in there. The bedroom was very romantic (see pictures) and had great air conditioning. There is also a TV, but why would you use that in paradise? They do have wireless internet. We had problems getting reception so Angela let us borrow a signal booster, but we still had to sit out on the patio to get signal. The bathroom was definitely the smallest I've ever had in a hotel room, but considering it was half the price of most other hotels in this area, we dealt with it.

Upon arrival Chris and Angela met us with welcome drinks and fresh fruit. We also enjoyed the american breakfast which was enough for four people. Every day Angela would make afternoon snacks for all of the rooms. She is a great cook! We she found out we were celebrating our anniversary, she gave us breakfast for free that day and she made a delicious strawberry cake and brought us champagne. You couldn't ask for a more friendly staff.

The one thing we wish we would have found out earlier is that laundry service is available for free. All you have to do is tip the maid!

We will definitely be back!

I chose to stay at Artemis after looking through dozens of Santorini hotels.
Imerovigli seemed the ideal location and Artemis villas the ideal place for our family. We had a large 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom villa with living room which was quite traditional in its style. It was not trendy and cool as many of the surrounding hotels. Simply a beautiful place to stay, clean, neat and very comfortable. We could not have been happier.
Breakfast was our favourite part of the day sitting up high on our large verandah with a view to die for. Yoghurt with masses of fresh fruit, muesli, boiled eggs, huge bakery basket, orange juice, tea and freshly baked cake!
We felt so welcome and at home after meeting Chris and Angela and the villas were a total reflection of them. They often dropped delicious snacks to us of fruit, cakes or nibbles which were a great treat.
They were absolutely wonderful hosts and were an incredible help with all the strikes on in Athens at the time reorganising flights and hotel bookings. They took control and organised everything so quickly.
Thankyou Chris and Angela

My wife and I just got back from a six night stay on Santorini for our honeymoon. We booked at Artemis Villas based on the reviews we found here on tripadvisor and our stay definitely exceeded our expectations.

Service
What really sets Artemis apart is the service. Angela, Chris and the rest of the staff really make you feel special. We checked in on July 5 just in time for sunset. Angela and Chris came to greet us with a chilled bottle of champagne and fresh banana and nutella crepes for us to enjoy. After 14 hours or travel, it really hit the spot.

When we mentioned that Aegean air lost one of our bags coming in, Chris and Angela asked for our claim form and told us not to worry about the rest. The next morning they had our bag waiting for us.

Other touches were really nice as well. At the pool, staff would bring cold bottles of water, each night during sunset, there would be additional special surprises and every day after the room was made up, we would always have new fresh flowers and herbs around the room.

Our Room
Our room was really well appointed. Nice Grecian-style furnishings with white marble coutertops, flat screen tv, comfy king-size bed and a kitchenette with refrigerator. Like all the rooms at Artemis, ours had stunning views of the caldera. Sunsets were absolutely amazing and having your own jacuzzi on your patio was an additional bonus.

Our jacuzzi wasn't in an ideal position for watching out over the caldera, half of it was tucked under a set of stairs that led up to the next set of rooms, but we only ended up using it one night.

Before the trip, I was a bit worried about how private the porches would be, given the photos I saw. While they weren't as private as other hotels I've been to, I was pleasantly surprised to find that there wasn't much noise or distraction from ours. Sitting on our porch was quiet and relaxing, and we never felt like other folks were around us.

Food
Definitely order breakfast from Artemis. It's delivered right to your patio at exactly the time you ask for it, has a great variety and is very generous in terms of portion size. We went to breakfast elsewhere one morning, and ended up waiting 30 minutes for our meal and spending just as much money for half the amount of food. For lunch and dinners, Chris and Angela have excellent restaurant recommendations and made several reservations for us during our stay, each time getting us fantastic seats for sunset views.

Location
Artemis is in Imerovigli, which is situated between Fira and Oia. While Imerovigli itself doesn't have the same density of shops and restaurants of the two towns it sits between, its an ideal location to set up base on Santorini. You're a 30 minute walk to Fira and a 15 minute bus ride to Oia. You can even hike the caldera trail to Oia if you're up for it, but it's about 2 hours. The caldera views at Artemis are fantastic. The sunsets are better than what we saw in Oia. In addition, you're within a 5 minute walk of several tavernas and open air bars. We enjoyed getting a night cap several nights at the nearby Spilotica cafe, which is lit by candlelight, had fantastic caldera views, great mellow music and a good selection of drinks.

All in all, The whole Artemis experience was fantastic. Our honeymoon memories will last a lifetime.
