We stayed at andromeda for our wedding anniversary on the recommendation of friends. It was excellent! The cliffside location does mean lots of stairs, but that's normal for hotels on the cliff. Pool and several jacuzzis on multiple terraces provide plenty of places to relax and absorb the stunning views. Easy walk to Fira, but removed enough that evenings are quiet and serene. Breakfast is fresh and varied, with fruits and breads and meats/cheeses. Kyriaka, the attendant at reception, ensured our every need was met - she even arranged a bottle of wine in our room to welcome us! We'll definitely return.

We stay at the Andromeda villas over the Easter break.
Before choosing the hotel, we read the review in Tripadvisor: at the time of booking, this was rated as an hotel However it is but now listed as a B&B, which is a surprise to us!

We booked at the Andromeda Gold suites…not sure why we then were moved to Andromeda villas.
The experience was not positive. The room is OK, but nothing special (note that we paid 200 euros a night). The towel is old and tired, no robe and toiletries of poor qualities. The bathroom is very dump that the floor was never dry (and they clean the room only late in the afternoon, say after 3PM!). There are no towel heaters, which I would expect for a hotel of that price.
The Jacuzzi in the balcony was filthy.
The breakfast was expensive (14 euro per person) and lacked of quality and variety (everyday the same food). For example the fruit salad was taken straight from the can !
On the first day, we arrived late for breakfast - we were told that the restaurant would not serve breakfast any longer. We said “OK, we will pay for a croissant or something similar”. We were sent out in the cold in the bar and there we were told they would not serve food. This was very poor service.
At lunch time there is a distinctive septic smell from the bathroom…aaahhh!

Other comments: Imerovigli is nice, close (30min walk) from Fira. I would stay close to Fira (e.g Firostefani), in a luxury hotel. There is nothing in Imerovigli. As per Oia, it is nice, but there is no life as compared to Fira.

We stayed here right at the end of the season, so service was probably not such an issue with small numbers of guests - we encountered no problems. Some things go with the location on the cliff - fabulous view and lots of stairs. Complaining about stairs seems a bit unrealistic if you choose to stay on a cliff, provided you are warned in advance. We arrived very late at night after a delayed flight when the night porter was on, and the travel agent had rung ahead, so he met us at the top and helped carry the bags to the room. This was certainly very helpful, as finding our way down to reception late at night may have been difficult.
We were in a superior room which was very nice, including a kitchenette. We had our own terrace with a lovely view. However there were a few things that could be improved with a bit more attention to detail: the jacuzzi bath was good, but why not an attachment on the wall to hang the shower hose on for people who want to shower rather than bath? In addition, one of the bedside lamps was unusable as the powerpoint was behind the bedhead and it could not be moved to plug it in.
The other thing I would have liked to see in the hotel information and maybe a sign in the bathroom as well was a note informing us that the tap water was not drinkable. Having just come from Athens where the tap water is fine, and having been advised in guidebooks that tap water is generally drinkable in Greece, we did not know not to drink the tap water. The receptionist informed us the next morning, but because of our late arrival we had not seen her the night before when we went straight to our room.
Breakfast was fine - not one of the great breakfasts of our time in Greece, but we had no complaints.
Overall our experience there was fine and we loved sitting gazing at the view, although given the large number of rooms, I can imagine the experience might be different at busy times.

If you pay 250€ per night in Imerovigli for a room you are bound to have a GREAT view of the Caldera and Volcano. This review is NOT about the views from Imerovigli but about a Hotel and its service, which totally spoiled this heavenly place and turned it into an experience to FORGET!!!! Here is why:

** The reception area is located 150 steps down from the street ( our room an extra 28 steps down). We heard complaints from other guests about this when we checked, at breakfast, and when we checked out. They do not care about providing convenience to their customers rather they pray on people who only come to Santorini once in their lifetime.

** We arrived at 2:00PM right at check-in time but had to wait over an hour to get our rooms

** The breakfast lacked variety, quality and the products used were cheap

** Our room had ABOSULTELY NOTHING to do with what is advertised on the website. Our small fridge was rusted on the door and on the top (huge stains and decay). The bathroom was so small that to close the door I had to climb over the toilet and shove myself into the bathtub. The TV was from the 80's, nothing to do with the nice flat screen TV advertised

** The smell coming out of the bathroom, OMG!!!! septic, awful odor that would not leave

** We immediately raised our concerns to the front desk but the staff is absolutely oblivious to take care of ANYTHING in this place. The Lady at the front desk with the unmistakable voice is absolutely worthless from flat out lying to us to completely ignoring our concerns and situation. This is what you get when you pay in advance. Beware!!!

** There was NO private balcony but a terrace. We had to pass in front of two other rooms' terraces to get to our room.

** The pool is more suitable to be at someone's home not at a hotel with 60 plus rooms!!!!!!

** Conclusion: A total rip-off!!!!!

We went there hoping that the reviews referring to bad service are just exagerations.
Unfortunately they weren't...

Still, I will start with the good points:
1. amaizing view of the caldera
2. superior rooms quite nice: coffee maker, 2 sunbeds on our terrace, jacuzzi in the bathroom with view directly to caldera;
3. easy access to transport - both taxi and bus;
4. cozy hotel, intimacy respected;
5. helpful ladies at the reception desk - they booked us a cruise, taxis etc, the service was prompt.

Downsides:
1. poor service - you have to wait half an hour for something to eat by the pool (food is not so good actually);
2. only international music played at the pool - we are in Greece, we requested Greek music - IT WAS NOT POSSIBLE!!!
3. same food everyday at breakfast, and not lot of selections (and I am not a picky eater, neither is my husband).

Overall the trip was enjoyable due to the location of the hotel and the amazing island!
Must do's:
1. cruise to the volcano and around the island;
2. visits at least half a day in Thira and half a day in Oia;
3. sunset in Thira and Oia - both amazing;
4. sunbathing at black beach (Perissa) and red beach (Akrotiri).

Very good restaurants: Imerovigli taverna in Imerovigli (excellent service and food!!!), Kyprida tavern in Oia, Sphinx restaurant in Thira (for the view and food - quite expensive).

I wouldn't go back to this hotel, but I would definitely go back to Santorini, it's magic!
Enjoy it!
Catalina

This is a wonderful hotel. From the moment we got out of the taxi and saw the view we knew we were in for something special! Yes there are a lot of steps down to reception, but you get that when you book a hotel on the side of a cliff. We arrived early and our room wasn't ready but that was fine with us. We sat by the side of the pool taking in the beautiful view. We were initially very disappointed with the family apartment that was first allocated to us which was kind of tucked away and didn't have a balcony with a view. However after pushing the point about our disappointment we were offered another room with a much better view. We found the rest of the staff friendly and full of information. The hotel was great for older children and being school holidays there was a good mix of kids from Australia, Greece and France which added to the fun for our children. The food at the pool bar and restaurant was sensational. The only downside is that lmerovigli is a little out of the way and the buses don't run late at night and taxis can be hard to get, however we were only there for two nights so it wasn't a big deal, but something to consider if you like to be in the thick of the action. The rooms were lovely and the kitchenette was great for stocking up for breakfast and 'happy hour''. There was a convenince store across the road which stocked basic grocery items, wine and beer and souveniers. And the finally the view.....I can't imagine you could find a better view anywhere else in Santorini! We would definately recommend this hotel for a wonderful Santorini experience. It's not cheap, but we're glad we splurged this time.
