“Perfect ending to our honeymoon!”
Reviewed 11 October 2010

After traveling through a number of hotels in Italy (Venice, Florence, Cinque Terre, Rome) and Athens staying at Remezzo Villas in Imerovigli managed to surpass them all...hands down. We stayed three nights but wished we could have stayed forever. Vassilis, the owner/operator, escorted us to our room on arrival and surprised us by upgrading our room to the honeymoon suite...OH MY GOD...we felt like we won the lottery or something. I've never taken so many pictures of a hotel room before, it was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! As beautiful as Santorini is we had a difficult time coercing ourselves to leave the room! When we finally did Vassilis provided us, not just with a map, but with a little guidebook for us to keep during our stay...it was packed with information on the history of the island, maps of the different areas, dining options, etc. He also gave us recommendations on just about everything...restaurants, hikes, ATV rentals (a must do!), planning our day, etc. Vassilis is a terrific host who felt more like a good friend than a hotel owner. The location of the hotel is situated perfectly as well...high on the mountain side with a spectacular view of the caldera and the sunset. Being born and raised in Hawaii, I'm normally pretty difficult to impress when it comes to sunsets but the view from our private patio area (complete with lounge chairs and a separate dining area) was spectacular. It is also within short (15-30 minutes) walking distance to Fira Stefani and Fira and a 2-2.5 hour hike (relatively easy) to Oia. We both felt that out of all our hotels Remezzo Villas made our honeymoon feel like a "Honeymoon"...it was the perfect ending to our honeymoon!

We stayed a total of 4 nights at Remezzo. Trust me, you will not want to leave. We wished we ended our trip at the villas because nothing else could compare to this place.
Vassilis is the most wonderful host. He takes great pride in his property and ensures that all of his guests are well taken care of. For ex. One night a couple on staying at the villas on their honeymoon, decided to stay in their room and watch a movie, Vassillis was so thoughtful and offered to make them popcorn.
When we wanted to some recommendations on what to see and do on the island, everything he suggested was superb.
The views from the hotel are out of this world. The beds are heavenly and the rooms are absolutely pristine.
Look no further for a hotel in Santorini.

Vassili is the greatest host, and his hotel is perfectly relaxing and beautiful. This hotel really does have the prettiest view on the island, and sitting on our balcony was like a dream. We are so happy we chose to stay here, and we hope to visit again later in life!

Remezzo Villas lives up to the ratings.....it is an excellent location to stay in Santorini if you like beautiful sunsets, and a little bit quieter atmosphere. It is located about a 20 minute walk north of Fira (which is considerably busier and full of hustle/bustle, shops and restaurants).

We found our accommodation (small one bed with bathroom) to be charming and good value and our host Vassilus to be friendly and helpful. With a small kitchenette, we were able to make our own meals which was a nice option. You can take the breakfast for 14 euro if you like.

If you're up for it, you can walk to Oia which is a 2 hr walk along the caldera.....which we did, then took the bus back.

Santorini is touristy but still has loads of charm, the architecture is so unique and Sept is a good time to visit, still steady with people but not so busy that you are elbow to elbow.

Pool area and courtyard area at this hotel are lovely, it is a bigger property than you think. A couple of observations - the pool is not heated, so is "refreshingly cold" and Santorini is fairly windy, perhaps due to Imerovigli's high location on the island....not a detraction though.

We would highly recommmend this hotel and this location.......enjoy!

I'll keep this short, the hotel is fantastic. The owner Vassilis makes you feel very welcome. He is quick with suggestions to make your stay on the island more enjoyable and they all pay off. We did something he suggested all 6 of the days we were there and never did or ate anything we didn't enjoy. His sister Calypso was also staying there helping out and she is equally wonderful. Our room was clean and beautiful, the morning breakfast was something to look forward too.

On an island where the hotels all kind of run into each other and look the same, the difference is that the other hotels don't have Vassilis and Calypso!!

We stayed at Remezzo on the last part of our honeymoon. It was an amazing place with the most incredible views. We knew as soon as we walked down the stairs and viewed the hotel that this was going to be our favorite part of the trip. The owner, Vassilis, is one of those people who becomes an instant friend. He knows the island in and out and gave us so many wonderful recommendations on places to visit and things to try. The location was perfect for us. You are within walking distance to Fira which has so many great restaurants and shops, but you also get to enjoy the slower pace of Imerovigli. I highly recommend Remezzo, it was the highlight of our trip.

Our group of four friends had the pleasure of staying at the gorgeous and wonderful Remezzo Villas in late August. It is located in Imerovigli, a quiet and non-touristy town north of Fira and Firostefani. The cab drops off in a small parking lot, where the villa itself isn't so obvious to locate (no sign). You need to walk a short distance down a stone path (going past Galaxy Suites) before reaching Remezzo's gate. From the gate, there are several flights of stairs to reach the reception area (where the veranda with tables and chairs are located), and more to reach the rooms (which are located on different levels, some with their own paths). Their staff will help with carrying luggage for arrival/departure.

Vassilis was not there the day we arrived but his sister, Calypso, gave us a warm welcome, tour of our suite, and recommendations for dinner at the lovely Imerovigli tavern just 10 minutes walk away. Vassilis and his staff were helpful throughout the stay.

We stayed in the Master Suite, which opens directly into a high-ceiling living room with sofa, television, and kitchenette (countertop, stove top, sink, fridge). Accessible fom the living room is a small bathroom, the cavernous queen bed bedroom, and a smaller room with two single beds. From the queen bedroom is a very large bathroom with two sinks and a huge jacuzzi. Up the stairs is the loft bedroom with a king bed. The curved walls and a few tunnel skylights evoke a cavernous feel. The space is very generous, furnishings simply but beautifully appointed, beds comfortable, and was just lovely to stay in. The kitchen facilities were great and we cooked breakfast every morning we were here, and dined just outside our suite on the tables and chairs there.

The master suite does not have a private veranda/sea view, but just a few steps out the door is the small, immaculate pool area overseeing the caldera. The view here is breathtaking. Actually, the view from most anywhere in this villa is spectacular; you can see the curve of the caldera from both sides and a wide view of the caldera center. We had a perfect sunset from this balcony.

Remezzo Villas has a great location if you want to be away from hordes of tourists. Its less than 5 minutes walk from two nearby food markets and a small taverna. Less than 10 minutes walk away is the Imerovigli tavern where we had two great dinners with caldera views. The stone walkway just outside the restaurant winds its way along the caldera coast south through Firostefani and to Fira. It takes about 30 minutes to walk to Fira, a mostly downward walk; the walk back to Imerovigli is a slight uphill. At night, be warned that parts of the walk can be quite dark, some through fairly isolated areas, and some sections of the road is rough. I never felt unsafe, but probably better not to travel alone. The walk is filled with gorgeous views of the caldera, and you can see Oia far to the north, and Firostefani and Fira as you approach south. Along the way are interesting buildings, a church, restaurants, cafes, galleries, and stores. Until you pass through Firostefani and upon reaching Fira, it is not very commercial or touristy.

It is difficult to hail a cab on your own from Remezzo; better to have Remezzo call a cab although depending on the time of day, there may be none available. Car and ATV rentals are easily available, although the traffic on the western side of Santorini can be quite intimidating (we did not rent). The nearest bus stop to Remezzo is less than a 10 minute walk but buses do not come frequently; we took one to go to Oia and waited nearly an hour for it (one bus passed through b/c it was too full to take passengers). Transfers to and from the port are available if arranged ahead of time but there is a fee.

Overall, we loved our stay at Remezzo. The combination of location, quality of the facility, and service was extraordinary. This was not a cheap stay, but it was certainly well worth the cost in just about every way. I look forward to staying again in the future.
