Owner description: Come! Sail away with us on a memorable voyage. You will board our authentic Brigantine Thalassa at the picturesque old port of Fira.We will set sail for the small port of the volcano. When we arrive your guide will lead you up to the rim of the volcanic crater where smoke rises up and the stones are hot to the touch. Remember to bring good walking shoes and a hat to protect you from the sun.Leaving the volcano, our ship heads for the “hot springs”. There you can bathe in the warm waters (don’t forget your bathing suite and towel) . During the remainder of our voyage, we pass by Thirassia, where you have the chance to swim again in the blue crystal cleal waters while the captain and his crew prepare plenty of traditional Greek meze (appetizers) and you’ll have the chance to taste the renowned wine from Santorini. Next we come to the northern tip of Santorini and the town of Ia with its two small seaports Ammoudi and Armeni. From our sailing boat we have a unique vantage point for viewing the lovely traditional settlement of Ia. Here you can relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Then we will set the sails and head back to Fira enjoying the wine and live saxophone music as the sun magically sets into the sea.

“Incredible Breathtaking Experience!!!”
Reviewed 26 October 2013 via mobile

My husband and I are here in Santorini on our honeymoon. We researched several of the sunset cruise options that are available. We definitely believe that this was the best priced complete package. You will get the best bang for your buck on this ship!!! The boat reminds me of the "Black Pearl" from the Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

First, we sailed over to the volcano, walked/ hiked to the highest point while our tour guide (Christina) provided a very well rounded and informative historical backgound of the surrounding islands. (Bring sneakers) After the walk up the volcano, we sailed over to the hot springs. The water had patches of warm pockets...as you moved closer toward the center of the area it got warmer. (Bring a black bathing suite because the red mud from the hot springs can easily stain your swimwear.)

After the swim in the hot springs we sailed over to another area where the water was a transparent crystal blue. You had the option of jumping into the water for a second dip. During this time the crew served various types of appetizers along with white wine for everyone to eat. It is served buffet style. Everything was absolutely delicious!!!!

Once the sun began to set, one of the crew members (Bennie) played the saxaphone. He was great!!! It set the tone for the perfect ending to a very romantic experience.

Earlier in the day I was talking to one of the crew members (Miro). I explained to him that my husband and I were on our honeymoon. Before the end of the evening Miro asked Bennie to play the Bridal Chorus for is. It was a sweet surprise!!!! :-)

Christina, Miro and Bennie are awesome!!! They truly enjoy making sure the guests have a memorable experience.

“Thalassa 6-hr. cruise of Caldera a top event of the week!!”
Reviewed 25 October 2013

Booked a 6-hr. sailing online on The Thalassa through Santorini_Cruises.com. A 3-mast "tall ship" picked us up at Old Port in Fira at 2:30 pm. Sailed over to Nea Kameni (the new volcano). Walked to top of volcano with guide--very interesting. Views of caldera, Palea Kameni (old volcano), Aspronissi (white island), and Thirasia were great.
Sailed next to swim in Hot Springs. You jump off of the ship (or use the ladder) and swim to the Hot Springs. Water is warm and red from iron oxide. Neat experience.
Back onboard, the two crew mates are very entertaining. Sail to Thirasia where you could swim again. Buffet dinner served aboard ship is included in price--Greek meatballs, stuffed grape leaves, chicken, spanakipita, tomatoes cucumbers, etc. and Greek white wine--all very good.
Sail toward Armeni and Ammoundi (at base of Oia) for sunset. Shipmate plays saxophone while passengers sip wine and take in the sunset--beautiful!!!
Sail back to Fira as darkness descends at 8:30 pm, enabling views of the towns of Santorini lit up. A fabulous trip, well worth the 52 euro price. Highly recommend!!

“Experience of a lifetime and priceless memories!!”
Reviewed 14 October 2013

Fantastic crew!! They deserve all the credit they are getting. Christine was an excellent guide and the 2 gentlemen on the boat were extremely friendly. Our trip wasn't very crowded and as Christine said it was almost like a private cruise. The ship looked majestic specially when the sails were opened and it was fun to hear the Pirates of the Caribbean movie's soundtrack when the guy was opening the sails (the ship is supposed to be a replica of a pirate ship:), the acrobatics of the one guy climbing up and opening all the sails was really cool. After the trek up the volcano with stops for Christine to tell us more about the place we got back to our ship and stopped at the hot springs. Some passengers who jumped in said it wasn't very warm though. After the swim, we had some wine and snacks which was quiet filling. As we sailed towards Oia we thought we would miss the sunset as the clouds seemed to cover it but we were still enjoying the live music, a sax being played by Beni the crew member and after a few moments the sun broke out of the clouds and we witnessed a gorgeous view of the sun setting into the horizon. I had just told my husband earlier in the day that it would be great if there was some Greek dancing and lo and behold while we were sailing back to port Christine put on a greek song and a few of us tried our best to keep up with the 2 greeks but as the song gets faster its tough to keep up, phew!! All in all one of the most romantic experiences for us and we are really grateful to the crew to have made it so enjoyable!!

“Very worthwhile”
Reviewed 12 October 2013

While staying in Santorini, Astra Suites recommended a sunset cruise on the Thalassa. It was an old-school type pirate ship that sailed over to the active part of the volcano, around to hot springs, and up near the town of Oia for a fantastic sunset viewing. Despite being one of the hottest days of the year in Santorini, Christine (our tour guide) made the hike informative and interesting - and it was a good break away from the relaxation that often comes along with a trip to the islands. On the trip to Oia, the crew served traditional Greek snacks and wine, which was a great touch. The sunset, accompanied by a musician playing a sax, was breath-taking. If you are in town for a few days, I would highly recommend this excursion.
