“Stunning views over breakfast!”
Reviewed 26 June 2014

We dropped into this B&B on a whim and were rewarded by Monica's lovely smile and a warm Irish welcome. This part of Ireland is stunning and we were so lucky to have had the weather with us.
The rooms at Portmagee Heights are modern, super comfortable and provide a high quality of comfort and cleanliness to the weary traveller. We slept like logs! The breakfast was truly delicious and set us up well for the day.
Monica is a lovely host and we were very much at home here. A great base for seeing Valentia Island and the extraordinary beautiful coast around it.

Room Tip: We had a room on the road side of the house but it is so quiet here that wasn't a problem.( Only...

The building is 8 years old, custom build for the purpose, with local valencia slate facings. Not your typical old irish building, but very well done. Views are magnificent. Just far enough out of town to be very peaceful. Monica can organise boat trips to the skelligs. Does not accept credit cards, so you will need to organise some cash. (Also need cash for the boat trip).

This is a great B&B -- perfect location, quiet, great breakfast and lovely rooms. Best Shower ever! We loved it and would stay again. Local pubs are nice, Trip to Skellig Michael was amazing and also checked out Cliffs of Kerry right around the corner -- beautiful, worth the LONG drive out there. We also recommend Valentia Island across the river and the tiny ferry.

My husband and I recently stayed here hoping to visit Skellig Michael, however the weather was very poor for our entire visit. Portmagee Heights is exceptionally clean and comfortable as far as B&Bs go. We had a great nights sleep and our host was very helpful with recommendations for other things to do being that we didn't get out on the boat. Breakfast was lovely. My only complaint would be the shower- very poor pressure and luke warm water at best.

If you are visiting the south of Kerry and in need of a place to stay then look no further than this great B&B! We were welcomed very warmly by Monica when we arrived and shown to our beautiful room! Not a speck of dirt to be found anywhere, beautiful bed with bright while linen on the bed! We had a great nights sleep and we had the best breakfast of pancakes and fresh fruit in the morning... I'm going to miss that breakfast now I'm home! Monica was very helpful and gave us maps highlighting what to see on Valentia and the surrounding area. Each day when we return from our adventures we arrived back to a freshly made bed, clean bathroom and fresh towels! Monica checked in with us to make sure everything was ok. One evening she even left us in wine glasses and chocolates, brilliant personal touch and showed how well she knew our needs!

It's ideally located for visiting so many places in the south of Kerry! Great value for money and a warm and welcoming place to be! Look forward to returning again some day!

Monica could not have been more helpful, making restaurant reservations and boat trip reservations.
The rooms were spotless and the bed is the most comfortable I have ever come across in a B&B, this has made me re-think using B&Bs in the future.
Do not hesitate to book.

We stayed here twice: In 2010 and again in 2013.
We wanted to go out to Skellig Michael in both stays, but didn't in the first try as the weather did not permit. We were more lucky the 2nd time around, it was less windy in the morning. But later it became rainy and windy, which made the trip an unbelievable experience.
The host and Portmagee Heights are the perfect stay for a trip to the Skelligs!
