I have stayed at The Moorings every year for the past five years and would not dream of missing this annual treat. Portmagee is one of the most attractive Irish fishing villages and the love and care lavished on it by its residents is clearly apparent - beautiful flowers, clean, litter-free sea front and wonderful people. The Moorings is by far the finest place to stay where guests want for nothing - superb food whether you eat in the Restaurant or the Bar, splendid rooms, particularly those with sea views, great Irish Music Nights in the Bar and an outstanding staff.
A visit is highly recommended!

This was my second stay at The Moorings. I had a beautiful sea view room that was clean and spacious. The breakfast was very good and the staff were all excellent. I would like to give a special thank you to Ailish and Colleen. They both went above and beyond in their customer service. I highly recommend The Moorings.

I stayed at The Moorings hotel when I was on a guided tour through Ireland. The room was clean and spacious, although it was near the garbage in the back, so it was completely fresh smelling. The hotel also arranged for us to have a packed lunch on our trip to the Skelling Islands for 8 EUR. Overall, the experience that I had was really good and would definitely recommend a visit.

Room Tip: Just ask for one not near the trash.

We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a sea view room which was definitely worth it and I would book one of these if I went to the Moorings again. Very comfortable bed, good bathroom and a little seating area. The room appeared to be recently refurbished. We had a warm welcome from all the staff. There is an extensive menu for dinner in the pub downstairs. Large portions of good quality pub fayre. The seafood platter is to be recommended. Breakfast was lovely and it was nice to sit in the window and watch the harbour while we lingered over our pot of tea. We went down towards the end of the breakfast sitting and did not feel rushed at all, which was very nice. Would stay again.

My husband and I stayed here for one night while doing the ring of Kerry. The staff are very friendly, we ate in the bar and had breakfast in the restaurant. The food was good, far better than what I expected for such a small establishment. Parking is a bit higgeldy piggeldy but we found a spot in the street. Peaceful, relaxing spot with very clean bed linen and bathroom.

Portmagee is really lovely and a great place to stop along the Ring of Kerry. There aren't many options and Moorings works just fine. I was a little surprised the rooms were pretty shabby. The carpet was kind of gross to be honest. It worked for a one night stop, but not the greatest. I thought 100 euro for the cheapest room (in the back by the parking lot with no view) is pretty expensive. The breakfast buffet set up is nice- croissants were amazing.
The restaurant attached is fabulous-- amazing seafood and the staff was very nice and helpful!

Portmagee is a charming seaside village that serves as the launching point for trips to Skelling Michel. The Moorings is a wonderful guesthouse - the rooms are large, clean, comfortable; the breakfast is fresh, delicious and served with a smile, the the pub and restaurant have a wonderful atmosphere with great food. We had the cold seafood platter - excellent! and mussels (fantastic).
