Our family recently stayed in the Gorizia Palace Hotel for two nights. Our room was large and comfortable. Convenient to the hotel were several pizzeria, gellateria, and cafes. We may have to travel to Gorizia again in the future, and will definitely stay here again.

The International Festival of History booked our accommodation and picked up the tab but even if we had been paying with our own money we would have been pleased with this hotel. We arrived for our two night stay at about 2:00pm on May 24 and were checked in without hassle and given the keys to Room #510. Our room was on the top floor and had some lovely views from the balcony of Gorizia's main street, Corso Italia, below and the mountains in the distance. The room was clean and well presented with two twin beds, a safe in the closet and a mini-bar with plenty of space to store our own water and snacks. The bathroom was spotless with a nice selection of amenities and the towels were decent quality. We appreciated the free Wi-Fi. The breakfast was ample with a nice range of continental-style cold items along with scrambled eggs and bacon. The hot chocolate was particularly good. The service from all the staff was friendly, professional and helpful. The train station is less than a five minute cab ride just down the Corso Italia. We enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front of the hotel if a view is important.

This nice hotel, in the main street of the town, is a short bus ride (or 20 minute walk) from Gorizia railway station. The hotel was particularly helpful in providing special pillows for us.

A good breakfast is served in an attractive dining room (which, as far as we could tell, is no longer used as a restaurant). There are restaurants nearby; we had a good meal at Tre Soldi.

Gorizia is on the border with Slovenia and forms one conurbation with Nova Gorica on the Slovenian side (which has its own railway station - also linked by bus to the hotel). One evening we walked through the centre of Gorizia and on into Nova Gorica for a nice (and very reasonably priced) dinner at Gostilna Metulj, returning by taxi.

My husband and I spent 3 nights in Gorizia. We found the Gorizia Palace centrally located, very comfortable and quiet-a real find. My husband was interested in seeing the area where many battles of the First World War were fought. The hotel staff was very helpful in giving us all the necessary information to visit the places he wanted to see. They even indicated a bookstore nearby that had publications on the subject. We had a wonderful stay.

Best Western Gorizia Palace is on the main street of downtown Gorizia. The hotel provides a very clean, comfortable stay, including a large breakfast buffet each morning. We have stayed here many times over the past two years while visiting family in Friuli. It is consistently good. There is parking on site. During Christmastime, when you step out of the hotel, the streets are beautifully decorated with festive lights, store windows, local merchants and crafts people selling items in small kiosks. The lobby of this hotel has a lovely big Christmas Tree and decorations. There are a variety of shops, restaurants, bars, bakeries, all within steps away from the hotel. The Slovenian border is within minutes of driving time.
We have also stayed at this hotel in very warm weather in the summer, and the air conditioning works well. If you want to be in the center of downtown Gorizia, this is the place to stay.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms overlooking the street can be a little noisy at Christmastime due to people "in the holiday spirit" at the local bars, across the street. But it's also fun if you want to join them.
