No wonder this b&b scores so highly. Even though our flight from Bari was 2 hrs late and we arrived in darkness, we were welcomed warmly by Dominico who ran here! Being a local he is passionate about Polignano and we appreciated his excellent advice as to places and restaurants to visit. As well as being the perfect b&b host, he provides an excellent buffet breakfast with a range of delicious home baked cakes/tarts. It's always interesting to meet fellow travellers while gazing out to the Adriatric! We stayed in the Verde Room on the ground floor for 4N and were always happy to climb the steep narrow stairs to breakfast! We enjoyed being in the historical centre and once we got our bearings within the myriad of alleyways we were away running and walking. It's a gem of a place and we loved our stay here. Grazie to Dominico and Monica.

Had two B&B rooms at this quant yet stylish B&B in May 2014. The accommodation consists of several en-suite rooms (fridge, air-conditioning), and a self contained apartment. Breakfast was a continental buffet served on the roof terrace overlooking the see. The property is a converted town house in the middle of the picturesque 'old town.' Though I would say that it would not be suitable for anyone with mobility problems, as several flights of stairs. Thought no road access to the property, Domenico and staff arrange for a rickshaw to get you and your luggage from a secured car-park just outside of the old town for 5 EUR per day.

Domenico and staff were so helpful and friendly (nothing was too much trouble). He recommended places to eat etc. Also suggested places to visit; Matera, Ostuni, The Trulli in Alberobello, and Lecche. Where you will certainly see the uniqueness of Puglia.

Note: There are coves with pebbles to leading to the sea. For sandy beaches you will need to travel to Monopli and beyond. One such lengthy beach was in Torre Cannes Sud. For 5 EUR you can park your car for the day at any of the LIDO's, though we found that Lido Bizzarro was the best with changing facilities, showers, Cafe and restaurant. You can just take your beach towels or hire a sunbed and umbrella if so inclined.

Lived up to all our expectations, from the moment we were met at the train station with a red rickshaw to eating breakfast on the rooftop terrace with its stunning views over the ocean. Stairs are a challenge for those of us with mobility problems - but persevere, it's worth the effort! Domenico is the perfect host - animated, welcoming and full of suggestions for where to go and where to eat. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Request a room on the ground floor if climbing stairs is a problem.

Santo Stefano is close to the sea in the oldest part of town. We had a charming room - Azzuro - up one flight of stairs. The whole property is misleading, it appears tiny but there are 12 rooms tucked away in this very old building. Very well run with enormous energy, Santo Stefano deserves its' glowing reports. However, we would advise that as the breakfast room is at the top of the house, (fantastic views), one is up and down very steep stairs and as a rather more mature guest, I should not have liked to have stayed there too long. Our bags were willingly carried up and doiwn, however.

Having arranged a meeting point near the railway station by phone, we were met by the charming Monica who led us in our car to a secure car park (cars can't go into the old town) and we were transferred with our bags to the B & B.

We much enjoyed our stay at Santo Stefano, and the one note of caution aside, we were delighted we chose to stay there.

We stayed in this B&B for 4 nights in the Corella room. We were picked up at the station by the wonderful Vittoria with the rickshaw of Polignano Made in Love, a service of the b&b! At the b&b we were warmly welcomed by Domenico who gave us a fantastic explanation of what to do, what to see and where to eat! The b&b has a typical Italian breakfast and it's offered on the roof terrace with a wonderful sea view! The room is very clean and comfortable. We would really recommend this place! We felt that the region is full of wonderful, friendly and helpful people! Really unique! We visited San Vito, Bari, Lecce, all worth to visit!

This was a charming place to stay. We stayed one night in the Grottino room! It was small, but cute and had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable and everything was cozy. The host Domenico was very cheerful, friendly and upbeat. He treated us very well. Breakfast was fabulous. We were happy to have the chance to eat breakfast with a spectacular seaview. There was too much to eat. I wanted to eat everything, but then felt guilty that I couldn't finish it all! I wished I had that tasty chocolate cake and ricotta cake when I got home to my apartment! Wish we could stay longer and hope we can come back some time!

BB Santo Stefano is superb! The location in the old town is very nice. But the kindness and service is amazing! Everything is well organised, from arrival to departure. Breakfast is wonderfull, and when the weather is good you can take it on the terrace. Domenico does it all with the smile and nothing is too much. We want to thank him for our nice stay and hope we can return next year!
