Description: A charming place, a restaurant with all the features to become "historical", since it stands where the first stones of Neapolis were placed in the far Middle Ages, today Polignano a Mare. Antiche Mura Restaurant is like the "Rotonde", the enchanting restaurant of the monumental Hotel Negresco in Nice, the place preferred by the most renowned people. Our idea is to realize an attractive corner of the Apulian cuisine, combining simplicity and refinement of choice. What strikes, apart from our good cuisine, is the refinement of our restaurant and the attention paid to every single detail. Finally, natural politeness and professionality will make the atmosphere pleasant and harmonious, for an unforgettable moment to spend together with other people.

The settings and surroundings of the restaurant are delightful. The service was immaculate and the food was absolutely delicious. It was more expensive than other restaurants in the village, but I did not feel cheated. A fish dish was 32 euro, but it was delicious. There were nice touches like the waiter filleting the fish at the table and chocolate being sliced from a block with coffee. Was it the best value, well probably not, but it was the best food.

We visited Polignano a Mare for only a day & night for "Il Falo di San Giuseppe". The owners of our B&B recommended this restaurant. The head waiter was somehow cold with us, even from his look. He didn't even told us their specialities. We ordered 2 types of pasta as a starter. After only 5 mins, we had the pasta on our table. It was obvious that it was pre cooked, half of it was even cold! While we were there, 3 italians came in. They were treated very different! The owner came telling their speciality! For the price you pay its nothing special!

I have spent one week travelling in Puglia and trying all the most recommended restaurants in tripadvisor and the best one is Antiche Mura a Polignano. The service is perfect, the food is amazing, the wine list is full of great local wines, the restaurant is located in the old city center with an amazing dining room, the prices are really reasonable for the quality of food and wines. The owner is kind and very precise...you deserve all the fame you have!

The reason 8 of us went to this restaurant one night is because one of our group had passed by the place as Fabio, the owner, was locking up. "Is the food any good?" she asked. "Mama's in the kitchen," Fabio said. That did it. We made a reservation. What an experience! Although decor is not a major concern of mine, the restaurant is simply gorgeous. The name of it translates to "Old Wall," and indeed there is a 1500-year-old wall in a deep and high, white-washed grotto-like setting, with stunning light fixtures. More important, the quality of the food! The menu is printed in both Italian and English, and among us, we were trying to decide among the numerous selections. Fabio came by, listened to our thoughts, and then made suggestions that turned out to be simply—divine. We started with a mix of starters—grilled sardines, breaded mussels, mussels with risotto, stracciatella (or something very like it) to die for, and more. We picked out a fish from a beautiful display on ice in the front of the restaurant—a good-sized sea bass that Fabio suggested would be ample for us; he also suggested roasting it with olives (as opposed to having it with zucchini and potatoes). Fabio expertly removed the skin and all the bones, table-side. The fish was perfectly done. Although we were very full (and satisfied) we had to sample some desserts: tiramisu, dirty-mouth (a puff pastry filled with cream) and, our favorite, dark chocolate ice cream in one-inch high cones. The cost of all this food was unbelievably small. Fabio is passionate about food, a gracious and charming host. Two nights later we returned to the restaurant. If you are in Polignano, make a reservation and go. And be sure to shake hands with Mama who will come out of the kitchen to greet you!
