Rated on lonely planet as a must visit, it is indeed an experience. We entered the butcher shop to have a glass thrust into our hands, filled with Chianti, and an invitation to taste the treats on offer. Then to the sudden load beat of ACDC Highway to Hell, the shop was invaded by a busload of young tourists and the show began hosted by Dario. All we wanted to do was make a booking for dinner and we got involved in the showmanship of Dario for about 20 minutes.
We had the 30euro meal and after 6 courses of meat, 3 of vegetables, wine, coffee and cake we could hardy make it up the stairs and outside. If that wasn't enough, there was a Turkish film crew filming a documentary involving Dario and the free Chianti flowed again.
Do visit and do book a meal. It is an experience.

We went to Mac Dario for lunch and our only regret is that we didn't go more hungry! The butcher shop itself was a very cool experience as we were given wine and a toasted crostini with a spread of lard and rosemary - it was so delicious and we probably ate too much of that prior to lunch! We sat outside above the shop and ordered the Super Dario and the Accoglienza. Super Dario included a delicious burger that they recommend being rare; the meat itself tasted very fresh with a nice char on the outside. The meal included a tomato stew that did not have much flavor but the garlic/sage roasted potatoes (in the form of steak fries) made up for the stew and were very good. The Accoglienza included Chianti sushi, Chianti tuna, pork roasted with herbs/garlic and meatloaf with bell pepper sauce. I'd never had beef tartare (Chianti sushi) and while the texture was different the strips of lemon zest made it taste good overall. The Chianti tuna was a delicious pulled pork served with fresh tomatoes (similar visually to a pulled pork for tacos) and the meatloaf was also very good despite having a different texture than what is considered meatloaf in America. Finally the roasted pork was absolutely wonderful and cooked to perfection with a near perfect herb/garlic flavor. The meal also included carrots, onions and celery to dip in olive oil and a herb blend that was a bit salty. Another good component to the meal were the sauces that were served. There was a "mustard" was actually a red color and named "mostardo Mediterranean" and was very good on the meatloaf and pork. The next suave was called senape and was actually a yellowish color - it too tasted very good and was great on the roasted pork. There was also a "ketchup" that was the least appetizing in our opinion. Overall Mac Dario was a great experience due to the food (we left very full) and staff and would definitely recommend going to the actually butcher portion to get the whole experience.

As if Cecchini requires any more great recommendations! But I'll throw in my two cents worth! We have been visiting Dario's Macelleria and restaurants since 2007 and can only say that it's worth the trip! Our last visit was a couple of months ago where we met a friend for lunch. We opted for sharing a platter of Chianti "sushi" (actually meat), Chianti 'tuna" a cooked pork preparation, porchetta, "meatloaf" with red pepper jelly and assorted raw veggies with EVOO and Dario's herb salt for dipping. Everything was incredibly good, as usual and how could you go to Panzano in Chianti without going here or the other two restaurants. If you are up for a fabulous steak, the Bistecca is for you!

Had a great lunch at this place, great staff, brilliant atmosphere and although I'm not into fast food the best hamburger I've ever had.
Would certainly recommend a visit!

Amazing 5 course meat only dining "to beef or not to beef". Loved this 3 hr plus experience at a communal table. Free flowing meats, wines and grappa! Loved this place. It was everything plus more that Anthony Hourdian spoke of on his show. 50 euro/pp
