“Fantastic Gran Canaria Hotel Suites”
Reviewed 4 December 2013

My Wife, 2 Daughters and I stayed at Terrazamar SunSuite on 21st November for a Lovely weeks Holiday in the Gorgeous Spanish Sunshine.
We had a great holiday in one of the 4 bed Studio Rooms, the room was very spacious, comfortable and spotless with numerous facilities included, Kettle, Hotplates, Pots Pans and Utensils with a microwave and large fridge/freezer also a flat screen TV which you need a card to watch English channels (not too good but who watches it anyway on holiday).
The Beds were clean and changed regularly with adequate wardrobe space.
Bathroom was tidy and clean with Shower and Clean Towels.
The Balcony was Huge at least 16 x 25 foot of space with two sunbeds and table with four chairs and parasol to use perfect for those lazy sunbathing days.
The Hotel boasts two Pool Areas one over the road at their twin hotel and one on the 10th Floor which both have a Pool Bar area for meals and drinks in beautiful surroundings with fabulous views................. ALL Floors easily accessed by several lifts........................
They have a Lovely Panoramic Restaurant and Bar Area on the 11th Floor too with Awesome Views.
The Local Beach is a 10 minute walk away and well worth it, and the local Town has Plenty to offer for Shoppers, Diners and with Restaurants and Bars catering for all tastes accessed by the hotels ground floor via lifts then through an exit gate with a door cardlock (take your room card for access coming back).
There is a Great Adventure Park "Angry Birds Theme" for the Kids on the way to the beach 5 mins walk.
We as a Family of 4 were very comfortable and will definately be back.
The Thomas Cook Rep for the resort was Dan and gave us good tips and where to go guidance who also took us back to the airport on the coach for our return flight.
The only SERIOUS DOWNSIDE was a second rep (Not Thomas Cook i think "Not in Uniform") called Aly who was promoting a place called ANFI ( We think she must be involved with ANFI) which was a "Time Share Place" where you go in a free taxi to "Enjoy" the facilities of their resort with "No Obligation" and you receive forty five euros for the priveledge when you get a card stamped and you return to Terramazar, we endured 4 yes 4 hours of constant hard sell and shown around the Site including the Beach, Great Rooms and Pools (Which we couldnt use as we were not Members) when we got there we had a coffee after an hour, then a snack after 3hours, ( then asked for a deposit of £1000 there and then, with a chance to sign up for a finance deal to become a priveledged member for a further £10,000 Absolutely NO CHANCE).
After 4 Hours we just wanted to go back to our hotel.
So Beware People DO NOT GO THERE but enjoy the Fabulous Terrazamar !!!!!!

i have stayed here 3 times before and i am always happy to return. we never get tranfers to and from the airport as the local bus #91 will take you there in about 35 minutes with only 3 stops for about 6 euro per person, when you arrive go up to departures and just outside to the right is the bus stop. The apartments are spotless with huge balcones and sun loungers so if you want some privacy you can stay on your balcony. One of the best restaurants is the Miami Steak House where Ali and the rest of the staff will take great care of you, i cant wait to go back next year

We stayed here the last week of October 2013. The apts were recommended by work colleagues and we were not disappointed. The rooms were cleaned by friendly staff on a daily basis except for Sunday. Our apt was on the 3rd level and we had no problems with local insects. The complex has 3 pools including a childrens pool and play area. The Balconys are huge with sunbeds with mattresses, tables & chairs and a Parasol. All you needed for a self catering holiday was available although the food n drink within the hotel & town bars & restaurants is so reasonably priced there is no need for you to prepare your own.Our only fault eating out was the Gigantic sized portions we were given in all the restaurants . Never enough room left for dessert. Its only a 10 min walk to the Town Centre where there is an abundance of Shops,Restaurants and Bars. A further 5 min walk takes you to the Bus Station,Harbour and Beach and more Restaurants and Bars.. There's plenty to do in the area for both Children & Adults. We are already planning a return visit with the Grandchildren next year.

Room Tip: Lower level floors are best.

It was our first trip to Gran Canaria for our wedding anniversary and we went to these apartments after reading all the positive reviews. The staff weren't at all friendly but they gave us the key and we went to our room which wasn't that clean but it was ok. Not what I would have rated 4 star. Anyway we went to Peurto Rico for some food and came back to the apartment about 8.30 I went to the toilet to find the first cockroach which we caught and threw out the door. Then an hour or so later we found the second cockroach and a third in the toilet we couldn't catch these as they do move rather fast and ran under the shower. By this time we were very uneasy about sleeping in this apartment so I went to the reception and told them about the cockroaches and the lady on reception never uttered a word and walked away from me and then came back with a key messed about on the computer and put the key on the counter with a piece of paper with the room number on it, again without uttering a word. I asked is this was for a new room and she looked and nodded and I asked have we to move tonight and she nodded and looked back at the computer. I felt this was just ignorance. When we got to the next room my wife pulled back the cover on the bed and there was stains which looked like blood on the white sheet. We are very laid back people but this was just unacceptable and no point in going back to the ignorant woman on the desk so the next day we decided to move to another resort. I have attached some of the photo's.

Stayed here for the second time in 3 years with my wife and two children. First time self catering as we normally go all inclusive so you know where you stand! Will never go AI again in this town as its sooooo cheap to eat out.

Rooms were quite basic, but clean. Balcolnies are enormous. You want to be on the fifth floor upwards and a lower number so for example 1503 would be good, we were 1518 which is quite a walk backwards and forwards to the lift. Swimming pool very clean and no fighting for sun beds! You can go to the pool at the top of this hotel or the one across the road which is a little quieter.

4-5 is happy hour at the upstairs pool bar, 6-8 is happy hour in the bar in the hotel reception so no end of cheap booze! In the evenings we went to the commercial centre which is right out of the hotel and 200yds approx on the left are some blue steps going down which takes you straight down into the commercial centre. We used Tiffanys bar as they are very nice in there and have the football on and beer is €1.50 a pint all the time and they made a fuss of the kids, it is as you come in from the steps turn right and go to the main entrance towards Mcdonalds and it is upstairs on the left, you need to take the stairs on the right and walk round though. They show pretty much all games and if it is not on ask them and they will put it on for you. They do food next door in Tiffanys cafe which is cheap at €5.50 for their specials, however, it is lovely we had curry and rice and hot chilli and rice and could not eat it all.

All restaurants in the commercial centre are very similar in respect of steaks, mexican, sea food etc and we did not have a bad meal all the time we were there. The Chinese Buffett can be quite salty though. There is a spar in the commercial centre where you can buy bread, butter, meats, beer, coke etc etc so we filled up on this sort of stuff to keep costs down and left it in our fridge.

You can go to Aqualand near Maspolomas for about €30 each way in a taxi and €80ish to get in which we did in 2011, but when you get there you have to pay extra for sunbeds, floats for certain rides, food is ridiculously priced and the queues were huge for all the main rides. We go told about a smaller sea water park at Taurito. We went one day and it was €12 in a cab each way, €12 to get in for adults, €5 for kids and there are enough slides and no queues! I much prefered it to Aqualand as it cost loads less and felt more relaxed when there rather than standing in queues all day for 10 seconds of slide every 30 minutes. I guess it would be a personal preference kind of thing.

Do not get caught out by "tour guides" offering you free taxis to the beautiful beach near Amardoras as it is a time share load of crap, so avoid you have been warned.

Transfer by taxi is 40 minutes from the airport not the advertised 1 hour 20 minutes some places say as it is dual carriage way all the way and not M25 style!

One other thing to say about the bar in the reception is that it is also a bakery and does rolls, loafs, hot dogs, pizzas etc and they are all fresh so in the morning we would have croissants and at lunch time a baguette filled with Salami, Ham or whatever we purchased from Spar which was lovely.

All in all I wish I was still there now and will be going back next year.

The 1 and only small complaint I would have is the room did not have an oven, only a two burner hob. But its so cheap to eat out who wants to cook anyway?!!?

Hope you have as good a time as we did.

Room Tip: 5th Floor upwards and a low number, so 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 and then 01-05 on the end! example: 1501...

I stayed here in July of 2012 and really enjoyed my stay. I stayed in a one bedroom and the room was huge. Not to mention the balcony, which was just as big as the apartment! The beds were comfy bathroom was spacious and the kitchen was great for cooking little lunch and breakfast meals. My room had quite a lot of cockroaches, however my friend's stayed next door and didn't have any. I think it was just my room! Try and get a room on the first to the fourth floor, other wise you'll have to get to elevators each time up to your room, and at four in the morning after a few sangrias, that's the last thing you want! It's only a five minute walk to the Centro Commercial which is the main point in Puerto Rico. The CC is filled with restaurants, knicky knack shops, perfumeries and bars. It comes to life after 11 :)
The hotel is then about a fifteen minute walk to the beach but the walk is quite nice and you get to see what Puerto Rico has to offer a long the way.
I would definitely stay in this hotel again, It's cheap and cheerful, and the location is perfect - not too high, and not too low as you hear the nightclubs. Perfect!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 1st - 4th floor, otherwise you'll have to get two elevators to your room.

Firstly I must point out that it has been many years since we have had a self catering holiday, we have tended to go AI, but the family we went with prefer this option so we decided to give it a go. I've given the rating a very good as I thought that average rating was a bit harsh, especially as I haven't really stayed in that many self catering apartments to compare them with.

If I am being honest I was a little bit worried about the accommodation as the reviews had been very mixed. However, we stayed in the sun suites, they were very basic, 2 single beds in the bedroom, a settee that had a pull out bed underneath for the children, I wasn't very keen on this as the pull out bed was on the floor and I was a bit worried about what was crawling around as we did see a couple of cockroaches. The apartment had a huge balcony which was great as the living area was quite small.

Like other reviews I would say that the whole place needs a refurb, especially the bathroom. Saying that though the apartments were clean.

The pool area was good, never had a problem getting a sunbed.

The pool bar was very reasonably priced, the food was good and the staff very friendly. There was a bakery and a supermarket in reception, the bakery did lovely freshly baked cakes & baguettes.

Apart from missing the comforts of a hotel these apartments were ok and a week was enough as the beds were not ver comfortable. Not sure I would go again, unless they had a bit of a spruce up. The location was good as you were out of the hustle & bustle and quite noisy night life of Puerto Rico.
