“Good hotel!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 September 2013

Stayed here for one week on an all inclusive basis!
The hotel looks as if it has recently been decorated and rooms were quite modern, clean and spacious! Views from the balcony were brilliant!
The hotel is situated right at the top of a hill and it is not even worth trying to walk to the beach or the main center. The Europa center is a 2 min walk out of the hotel and there is a taxi rank there which will take you to the bottom of the hill!
The food at the hotel was buffet style and very good. The drinks at the hotel were also very good, and they offered cocktails to all inclusive guests for 1 euro!
The hotel had good facilities; very large pool, and another smaller and quieter pool, entertainment, free WIFI at reception etc.
There was no air con in the room, however we didn't feel this was needed at any point as the room was very shaded.
All in all it was a good stay. I don't think I would return to Puerto Rico, however I would recommend the hotel to anyone who was visiting Gran Canaria.

Rather late but we stayed in July 2013. Very good value for money, food ok, drinks served with a smile and humor. Good family atmosphere and a wide Age range. Entertainment not too good.

My Son had his aftershave stolen from his room and only staff had access. Reports to reception (unhelpful guy with attitude) and the so called 'customer relations mngr' who was no use whatsoever and refused to call the police or accept they had a thief working for them.

Not a bad place to go. Make sure all valuables, including toiletries are in safety deposit box cos the staff are unhelpful and couldn't care less.

got back on the 15th of september after a weeks holiday. It was everything we expected ,staff were all very pleasant and Anna was very helpfull. we went all inclusive the apartments were very clean comfortable . food was good sometimes you had to try hard to make up a proper meal but what was there was good.Drinks are stronger there than other all inclusives ive been to.The entertainment wasnt fantastic but oscar tried his best and some nights were better than others.plenty of sun beds ,not too crowded in pool .Easy to make friends with other guests , all i can say is it should be a four star not two and i would recomend a holiday here to anyone , was brill all i can say is try it you wont be disapointed .plenty to do like boat trips , the europa shopping center just over the road .quite a walk into peurto rica but a nice one .advised to get a taxi back they are only bout 3.25 -3.50 euros .Amadores beech is a lovely place to visit , we walked the coast road there and a taxi back . brill holliday

Room Tip: rooms overlooking small pool quieter , we had 92 good room .higher up better view.

Just got back from a weeks holiday. My daughter (24 just to give you an idea of ages, but i wont put my age on)and i went self catering and we actually ate out all week so i cannot comment on the food but everything else was fine.Rooms, pool and whole accomodation were kept very clean.Towels were changed 3 times in the week.Reception were very helpful but to be honest we only really went to reception the day we arrived and the day we left. The bar staff were really nice(especially the man at the small pool bar-always singing and smiling). The blonde lady(didnt get her name)was very pleasant.
We didn't see any of the entertainment so i cannot comment on it(what was advertised didn't really interest us).
It was really a base for our holiday(been to Puerto Rico several times)to go out and about but we couldn't fault it.Stopped at the Altamar and Riosol before and Colina Mar we thought was the best.Would deffo stay there again and probally will.
Would recommend The turbo bar for a good night out and the little italian restaurant in the top shopping centre.

Room Tip: We were on floor 2 room 225 and it was fine .Did hear resort noise at night if you left the patio w...

A big thank you to the staff, especially the younger guy on the front desk and Anna, the Swedish lady. My father-in-law left his Samsung Galaxy S4 mobile phone in the hotel room and didn't realise until we were at the hotel. I called the guy on the front desk who said that the cleaning staff had handed it in and he could get a taxi to deliver it to the airport for us, but unfortunately we did not have enough time to wait for it to arrive due to our flight time.

After arriving back in England I sent an email explaining the situation and Anna arranged for a courier to collect it from the hotel and post it back to us. Thank you all so much for your help and the trustworthiness of all your staff as the phone was worth over £400!

We spent 10 days all-inclusive at the Colina Mar at the end of August and had a fantastic time. The food was great and the accommodation was clean and my children loved the smaller pool - they were never out of it. All the bar staff were friendly, especially Ellen and Jonjo at the small pool and we would definitely book again. I can highly recommend the dolphin boat trip. We were lucky to see over twenty of them riding the waves in front of the boat.

Don't get drawn into a conversation with the timeshare reps that are near the Europa Shopping Centre. They give you scratch cards with one of them being the star prize and use the patter of saying that they have to get their boss over to stamp the card and then try to get you to go in a free taxi to collect the prize. Unlike a previous review we didn't waste 5 hours of holiday listening to the sales pitch thankfully!

Room Tip: Rooms nearer the smaller pool are quieter

My husband and I have just returned from spending two weeks self catering at Colina Mar from 26/08 to 09/09

Where shouldi start? We had a afternoon flight and arrived at the hotel approximately 7pm. Check in was simple and no fuss. Our travel agents had requested a low level room for us as I'm disabled and this was given to us.

The room was more than a room. It had a living room / kitchen area with a dining table to sit 4. Also a large comfortable sofa which turned into a sofa bed, plus a large chair.

The kitchen area was simply furnished with a microwave, fridge ( with a complementary bottle of water) two ring electric hob and kettle. Simple utilities and basic cups, plates etc.

The bedroom was simply decorated bit looked clean and fresh. There were two single beds, one bedside table, and a large vanity table with huge mirror for us ladies. The beds were lovely and comfortable which I was wary about with my disability.

We found a fan in the living room which was a god send as there is no air con in the apartments.

The hotel is set into the cliff side and has 5 floors, the top floor ( level 5) been the one you exit the hotel complex through.

The pool, pool bar, restaurant and evening bars are all on level 0

Unfortunately the entertainment was a little bit on the dire side the first few days. The regular entertainer, Oscar was on holiday and they had a full in called Larry. He was far too loud and not much good to be honest. Various rumours started floating around that the police had been to the hotel and closed his entertainment down for been to noisy after complaints from the local residents. This doesn't surprise me at all. Due to this we had no entrainment for 3 maybe 4 nights until Oscar returned. There were the typical animal and reptile, parrot shows which if you have seen once, you have seen them all.

Oscar is a lovely young man, who by himself runs all the entertainment. During the day ( when he returned) we had water gym, killer pool, and there is a large indoor mini club room for the children which Oscar opened daily.
Evening entertainment then consisted of Bingo, a Elvis Tribute, pub quiz, and a terrible Boy George tribute artist who couldn't sing a note in tune or even sing Boy Geroge or Culture Club hits.

The hotel was very clean and tidy. Rooms are cleaned 5 times a week. And communal areas are kept spotless. The pool guy can be seen nightly and every morning cleaning the pool.

The staff were lovely, but it wouldn't be right for me not to mention Michelle who works evenings in the entertainment bar. She is a super star, and makes you feel so welcome, and is incredibly warm and welcoming.

The blond Irish lady on the restaurant bar in the day time can appear to be a little stand offish, however she is very warm and pleasant once you start talking to her.

As we were self catering we ate out and seemed to stick to the same three or four places.

At the Europa centre which is a ten minute walk down the hill has a mixture of restaurants, bars, shops and super market. I highly recommend The Lord Byron restaurant. They are lovely people and the Chicken Fgjitas are a must try.

There is also a take away with sit down eating area towards the back of the centre on the lower floor by the steps which has lovely food and resonably priced.

The supermarket is very handy and you will find all your much needed times for your apartment.

For around 4 Euros you can take a cab down in to Puerto Rico's busy centre - just ask the can driver to drop you at McDonald's. There you will find a similar centre to the Europa but much , much bigger. There is one restaurant I must tell you about. It's called The Greedy Pig and can be found by the taxi rank and down some stairs. Their food is AMAZING. And they do a "Super 6" Six different meals for 6€ which is great, and they do not skimp on portions!

All in all Colina Mar ticked all the boxes bar one. There is no toilet on the pool and restaurant level and you need to go downstairs to ind one. As a disabled guest this wasn't very easy and they have plenty of space to put a disabled loo on that's level.

We loved it, we will be back and see you all soon!
